Pizzaria Della Piazza on the Hill. Only open Thursday thru Sunday. Call ahead (314-762-9100) for the Chicago style, it takes and hour to cook. They also have hand tossed and a thin which is super amazing. And they use real cheese!
^Which is why these polls are useless. It was predictable that Imo's would be #1, even thought they are nowhere close to being the best. These are the same people who would pick McDonald's as the best hamburger.
Ever use Yelp? It's a great guide: http://www.yelp.com/c/saint-louis-mo/pizza. I know I'm leaving out some great pizzerias, but below are just some that I consider to be among the best.
Top Pizza Places
- Pizzeria della Piazza: The best Chicago-style pizza in St. Louis, hands down.
- Pi: Gets consistently rave reviews. I must visit soon.
- Dewey's: I have enjoyed coming here with friends. The pizza is extremely tasty.
- Vito's - Scrumptious gourmet pizza
- Il Vicino: Tasty, wood oven pizza.
- Joanies: Great thin crust
- Fortel's: Amazing mom and pop pizza joint
Best place to get pizza-by-the-slice?
B&T Pizza (I enjoy it and it's conveniently located! I love being able to enjoy pizza without having to buy a whole pie and end up overeating in the process!)
Unfortunately, it's not in the city, but the pizza I grew up on is my favorite -- Faraci Pizza in North County. It's St. Louis-style with thin crust and provel cheese. Love it!
No one mentioned Lemmons/BlackThorn pizza. I like their pizza, especially when it's free on Monday nights!
Someone told me about a place called Palladora's, has anyone every heard of it?
What's the catch on free pizza on Monday night? And I'm gonna have to try the Della place, last time I had Chicago style pizza was when I was in Chicago about 10 years ago.

No catch on free pizza night -- that's what makes it so great! Lemmons does Monday night "feastivals" where you can eat as much pizza as you want, along with wings and meatballs. It's great. During football season they show the games, and on the off season they show two feature movies. I always buy a couple pitchers of beer to make up for the fact that they're feeding me for FREE!

Except for leaving out Feraros.

Racanellis sucks. I ended up with muddbutt the last three times I ate there. I'd rather eat a cup of lukewarm ramen noodles than a slice of their pizza.
Domino's and Pizza Hut hardly qualify as "Best Pizza" in StL! Good Heavens!
I would have to say that w/in the city limits Louie's is a top contender, as is St. Louis Chicken & Wings (downtown location only) and Vito's. I personally like Blackthorn, but I know plenty of people who think it's too thick & saucy. I say, "what could be better than thick and saucy." ;^D Tulayna's can be good, depending on the maker. I like the Tulayna's on Gravois near Kingshighway but have gotten both decent and disgusting pizza from the Skinker-DeBaliviere location.
Dewey's is good, but I'm not sure about best, I honestly haven't had enough to determine that. Pizza World is OK (though world's better than Dom & PieHut.) People rave about Joanie's in Soulard, but I thought it was about as good as Dewey's, though, again, I've only eaten there once. Racanelli's Loop location is good NY style, but their CWE location never really drew me back.
There are a lot of places that have great pizza that aren't pizza places, too. I'm thinking of 3Monkeys on Morganford, in particular.
I'll second Sybergs - granted, I've only eaten at the Affton location, and I've only ever gotten the Brett's Monster (I think it's called Brett's Conglomeration now) but that is some fantastic thin crust pizza.
I honestly never got the love for Fortell's, and I live around the corner from there. I do like their Philly Cheesesteak Pizza, but I think that's because there's something I don't care for about their pizza sauce and it's one of the few pizzas that doesn't have pizza sauce on it.
