If the flashing "No Parking On This Side of The Street Beginning June 16th" traffic control signs are to be believed, June 16th is the start date.

^has anyone seen the work on the south side at Magnolia/Tower Grove Ave... it looks like there is a pile of street car rail ties sitting in a pile. Wasn't 100% sure if that's what I saw but it looked like thats what was there?

Live right by there and pass it just about every day. Might be the granite curb-stones you were seeing? Theyve been pulling them out as they go northward ( I'm hoping they'll be reusing them at the outer curb). Saw this morning they've already completed a big section of the new sidewalk and removed the forms (I suppose it also could have been a stack of forms?)pattimagee wrote: ↑Jun 23, 2025^has anyone seen the work on the south side at Magnolia/Tower Grove Ave... it looks like there is a pile of street car rail ties sitting in a pile. They have finished the connector from Tower Grove Park all the way to the overpass at I44 and are working their way up and into Vandeventer (NE) already. Looks so good, and man... when I see stuff like this I just wonder why this shouldn't just be the way things are done from here on out, imagine and entire system connected like this - so nice. Can't wait to ride my bike up to STLCity games.

If this project is as successful as everyone hopes, this corner of Botanical Heights is going to become a real estate hit very quickly. I predict two big residential announcements for the Vandeventer corridor this year.
It would become a lot more transit oriented for one. Will be far easier to bike to the Metro.addxb2 wrote:If this project is as successful as everyone hopes, this corner of Botanical Heights is going to become a real estate hit very quickly. This segment of the Brickline (and partner connectors) may be the most frequented by locals. Forest Park-ers biking to Tower Grove Land, and vice versa.
It looks like from the construction along Tower Grove Ave that the bike path will switch from the west to east side of the street to connect w Vandeventer. I'm wondering how that'll look.

I would also add for anyone listening here that the Paul Kohl Memorial Garden that is not a public park and is owned by the Botanical Gardens should be relinquished back to city to develop as it would be an amazing spot for some apartments.addxb2 wrote: ↑5:12 AM - Jan 03If this project is as successful as everyone hopes, this corner of Botanical Heights is going to become a real estate hit very quickly. I wouldn't be surprised if that "garden" is just a placeholder for future overflow parking capacity.

Every time I drive/bike around here I am so pleased with how they've done. That, I think, is in contrast so how the new "bike lanes" look on South Kingshighway. It seems like a shame and a missed opportunity to have made bike lanes on south kingshighway that are not grade separated and not well connected with much else. I don't think I would feel particularly safe on such a busy street with the only thing that keeps me from getting hit is a thin line of paint and the hope that whatever St. Louis drive next to me isn't on their phone.pattimagee wrote: ↑9:30 PM - Jan 02They have finished the connector from Tower Grove Park all the way to the overpass at I44 and are working their way up and into Vandeventer (NE) already. Reminds me of the high traffic/high pedestrian crossing where traffic will get green lights, then red lights followed by pedestrian getting greenlight to cross in all directions including diagonllypattimagee wrote: ↑5:29 PM - Jan 05Its in the link provided upthread - here ya go! https://www.forestparksoutheast.com/wp- ... 5-2021.pdfPeterXCV wrote: ↑5:07 PM - Jan 05It looks like from the construction along Tower Grove Ave that the bike path will switch from the west to east side of the street to connect w Vandeventer. Phase two is out to bid. If it works out, construction could possibly continue somewhat seamlessly between phase one and two.
I was surprised to see how far north the Sarah improvements are going, up to Forest Park Parkway developed in engineering at least. Not sure if the full scale is moving forward in Phase 2 or later phase. Welcome news to those in the area I am sure.
It makes me so happy to finally see this! Can't wait for the Vandeventer segment to finish up.
