Was on a cruise (and really miss the 85 degrees). Back in town. Civitas agreed to go out of their way and show me the loft on Sunday. So far, my experience with them is positive.

CLOSING ON the 5th of Feb......YAY

Does anyone know how it works with upgrading your Charter package? I know we are being given basic expanded cable as part of our condo association fees....but how do we upgrade to get high def channels, movies channels, digital boxes, etc.?

There should be a POC with Charter for your condo association. If not, just call Charter and go through the automated system for 5 minutes until you get really angry. Once you are angry start hitting buttons and you might find a representative that is actually a real person.

I upgraded over my basic cable to HDTV w/ Moxi and I pay about $35-40 a month.

This website has saved me countless hours of frustration trying to find a real human on automated phone systems. They have Charter in their database.

Checked out my loft. Looks cool. apart from some minor paint issues, things looked great.

Civitas seems to have extremely helpful people. Will keep updates posted as more of us get into the building.

I heard that Brad was going to be the "first" official owner to move in. CONGRATS. :)

Yup, I close and move in on Thursday. Can't wait. And Civitas has been great so far. They demonstrated a keen eye on my part during my walk through by identfying some small errors in my unit. It was refreshing to see concern on my behalf by a neutral party; their experience (Meridan) was apparent.

I agree. Elaine from Civitas is a true professional and saw several "issues" that I would have missed completely.

Jacob Dev. had also seen some minor issues before the walk through and marked them for fixing. All in all, it looked great. Can't wait. My cruise postponed my closing :(

I will most probably be in the building on the 6th, moving some stuff in. Let's see who all are in the building that evening and try to plan a before and after Mardi Gras party :hyper:

I work out at Solera in the Westin Hotel. I really like it. It is close by, small clean and the staff is very friendly. You shoudl try it. They give free three day tryout memberships.

last spring and through the summer I thought a storage unit came with the lofts- was i incorrect in assuming this?? Did the parking eat up the storage space?

also, assuming we dont get one what do ppl do with their items such as a bike or whatever?

Not sure about storage, however, I know our parking spaces are deeded so you can build a bike rack above your parking spot.

we move in Monday, my understanding is that parking is deeded as well and we are planning on putting our bikes in our parking space...

ditto about the parking space.

I also confirmed that the electric cart is gifted by Jacob to the homeowners association. It needs 4 hours charging for the battery, and has a 4 hour charge in it (I guess it means 4 hours running time????) That will come in VERY handy for short trips by us residents.

I am thinking about creating a yahoo or google group for the residents of the ventana...do you guys think this would be useful. The building we live in now has one, and it is a good place for people to communicate about building issues...

I think that would be valuable. Start it up.

I created the group through google groups and sent invites to all of the people on the e-mail list from jacob/civitas. Hopefully this will be a valuable tool for the residents.

Everything went smoothly for us as well. Bob, Elaine, Rich from Paric...they have all been really helpful. I can't wait to meet everyone as they start moving in.

Hi, all.

I'm taking this Friday (2/9) off from work to do a partial move-in for a good chunk of the morning. Anyone going to be in their units during that time? Perhaps this would be a great opportunity to meet the neighbors and perhaps get their helping hand if so willing. I guess I don't really have too much to move, but it would be great to meet some of my neighbors. I know I'm looking forward to meeting all of you.

Brian

I will be moving some stuff in Friday evening. I will have my brats (9 and 10) with me to help :). I can certainly lend a helping hand after 5 pm on Friday, if so needed.

The big move for me is Sat.

Hi Brian and Bob and anyone else,

I will be around Saturday (waiting for delivery of my kitchen tables), so if you need some help feel free to stop by and I would be glad to assist. I am at 505. Bob, I actually went and knocked on your door last night (609 right?) to see if you needed any help. It was about 8PM but I do not think you were there.

whats going on with the westgate development auctioning off about 30% of their building? what prompted this? I hope this isn't going to be the norm...

I think that's doubtful. That's really making a lot of people unhappy, and I don't think too many developers want to create that reputation for themselves.

At this point, other developments and developers are doing so well that it makes Westgate look like they're doing something very wrong. I sure wouldn't want to deal with them after this. I wouldn't take the chance that it would happen in my building.

Remember that's the McGowan Brothers. No further business connection to McGowan/Walsh, who's put out some good product in Windows Lofts, MikE Shannons, and soon to be Packard and ballpark Lofts.

Anyone know the reason for the split? Maybe Kevin figured out his brothers were knuckleheads and decided to bail and hook up with Nat Walsh?
