Shame on you innov8ion for forgetting the lively discussion on whether Lafayette Square is "urban" or not.

i just noticed the new lights installed in front of the building while walking my dog the other night. the lights and new renovation just totally transform that strip of washAve at night. definitely not the the shady stretch of washington it once was. i really hope someone opens a biz in there soon... coffee shop? blockbuster? hardware store?

Saw that the corner of Wash and 20th(?) will be one of the starting points for the loft tour. Should be interesting to see how they look at that time.

When is the loft tour? (I have been out of town the last couple of years and I have been anxious to go on it).

I like the lights too, but just out of curiousity, why didn't they use the same fixtures that were installed up the street (closer to Tucker)?

Dueling authorities. Clearly the Urban Design West of 18th Street Committee wanted to outdo the Urban Design East of 18th Street Committee.

Welcome City Pet Supply! Can I assume you're opening a business in the Tudor building? Perhaps some kind of coffee shop or a night club? When, if I may ask, will you be ready to open?

Just really checked out this stretch for the first time the other day. What a great transformation! And I personally love the angled parking. It invites you to pull in and see what is going on. This is the kind of development needed to connect one area to the next. Nice job. Now hopefully they will get some decent businesses in.

If only we had some clue...

Seriously, congrats. That's an area of need downtown, so I'm sure it'll do well.

A music store would be nice here too, as in musical instruments, as opposed to CD's and such...

The Tudor building seems to be one of the few rational landlords on Wash Ave. They spaces are renting at a very attractive and reasonable rate, so they should fill the spaces quicker than most on Wash Ave. I was talking with one of the leasing agents for the residential units and she told me they have very generous build-out allowances and $12/sq ft leasing rates for the retail space. Good for them!

I went ahead and started a new thread so I don't have to take this one off-topic.

I do know many of the other tenants, but they will make their business plans known when they are ready. I can tell you that the landlords are leaning heavily towards filling service needs for the downtown population as this strip's primary clients. They are turning spaces over to business owners on July 1, so look for the place to start filling in around August.

So why are there so many white stripes next to all of the angled parking spots? Is this where future landscaping is going? I hope so :)
