2-Post Parking Lift, PL7 for $3360: http://www.e-autolifts.com/pl/pl.html. Even if installation cost as much as the lift, total price would be less than 7k -- less than half the Meridian price. Perhaps this lift isn't as robust as one the Meridian may choose but the price difference doesn't seem at all close. Am I missing something here?

Yes. I don't know. No and no. But if it's anything like I envision a lift would be, $15K doesn't sound outrageous. I could be wrong, of course. And remember, it's not just the lift - the electric has to be run, it has to be anchored (I would assume), etc...

I don't know if you are missing anything. It is worth investigating. Do you know the make and model they are installing?

I am in Chicago for the next four days. When I get back, I think I'll pursue it further. Maybe us lift buyers could band together and get to the bottom of this?

One way to approach it might be to say "Hey, I'm seeing lifts online for less than $5K. And yet yours is $15K. What's up"?

I wonder if installing your own lift is even an option? I know we have rights to our assigned parking space but I am not sure if we can materially alter the space after the fact since we don't actually own it? Also, since there is only a limited number of spots that can accomodate a lift so it seems like you'd have to secure one of those spots in order to install a lift. As spots were assigned by unit cost/size, and have yet to be released/assigned, there is some uncertainity as to who will have spots that can accomodate a lift but did not exercise that option at the time of sale. I'm guessing that these spots will be retained for the remaining more 'expensive' units, such as the penthouses, and/or be retained to rent/sell until the building is sold out to keep the options open but who knows???

It's interesting to note that the closing/title work did not define a certain spot as most parking spaces are deeded with the property. That makes me wonder if you can swap spaces amongst unitowners? I am just throwing out thoughts...seems like there are several outstanding questions but are worth looking into further for clarification.

Took this night shot from the southwest corner up in the Meridian. It will give you an idea of what the views will look like from the units on that side of the building. Must say it looks pretty cool from up there!

According to Google Maps, the building is 4 blocks south of the Meridian. Does that make Park Pacific the building with the red dot in the picture about 8 floors up? Hopefully that description isn't too vague.

Looking forward to that building's development in addition to the Jefferson Arms. Hopefully that cinema in the Arms is still a go. Last time I heard, development on the Arms was delayed.

Park Pacific is the building with the big banner on it and four spotlights in a row.

Nice. I'll take a closer look at that one. I'm doing a walk-thru on my loft in the Meridian this Thursday and will be closing within 10 days. Soon I'll be moving in. I tell ya what, work has been a bit stressful lately. With some uncertainties, the loft process has also contributed to the stress level. Ok, end of whining. I'm pretty sure things will be better after I've moved in and adjusted. There'll be some kinks to work out with construction still going on but that shall pass and I'm looking forward to the change of lifestyle in living downtown.

This forum has been a great asset to me and many others during this process. I'm glad it's around... Thanks...

Congrats innov8ion! I'm so jealous! The last time we were there (almost 2 weeks ago) we didn't even have walls. I'm hoping to see some progress this weekend.

I closed on my loft and have to say that the entire process went very smooothly. The stained floors are amazing! The punch list process was put on hold while the floors were being stained, but now hopefully they can get through everything fairly quickly. I'll be moving in soon. I've heard that more than 15 units are occupied now. We definitely need to have a get together of some kind for everyone to meet.

I'm moving in this Saturday. As soon as my place is "public-ready," (about a week or so?), everyone's invited over. Stay tuned.

Scrutinizer, I see no reason why you need to be moved in to attend. I promise not to require "proof-of-current residency" at the door. :D

Ok, completed the walk-thru today. Here are pictures: http://picasaweb.google.com/innov8ion/LoftWalkThru

There are some items yet to be finished on the punch list however nothing that would make me delay closing. Overall I am very pleased with the outcome. The main items i'd like worked on are related to the tile on the living room wall (cleaning, fillling in cracks) and the ceiling (filling in cracks and painting.)

I decided to go with the lift upgrade for 15k. They had to pay for capital upgrades to the concrete slab to enable installation of the lift. I believe it'll be worth it for resale, especially as demand for parking increases as more people move downtown.

I'll be closing as soon as the broker can get er done and hope to move in on Saturday the 19th.

Two things I noticed: Your ceiling is white. This is a good thing. I was under the impression that they would be painted grey. I know some of the units I saw were. What's the deal?

Also, it looks like the bricks above the white blocks are painted. Did you ask for this, or is it standard?

Nice place, Innov8tion. I love those to-the-floor windows. What a great view of the Bogen. And maybe when the new building on the S/W corner starts to go up you can post progress photos now and then.

Thanks! Yeah, I'll post pictures of the "Apple Bottom" girl if they put her up again. As for the ceilings -- I think they are all white... But I remember seeing some grey somewhere. Maybe it was in a different unit. Maybe it's in the master and/or guest bedrooms. I can't recall; I didn't request ceiling color. I can clarify soon. Or maybe cbroy can. Didn't request the painting of the bricks above the tile either.

Yea, some of the units do have the grey ceilings and do not know why the two different colors. I too really like the floor to ceiling windows. And a couple of other things I see that seem to be different than most other developments is they took the tile in the bathroom all the way up to the ceiling which I think is a great look. And it looks like they angled the vents in the ductwork to point more downward which is smart.

Ha, you crack me up and thanks all for the compliments. The unit definitely has potential. Now if I could just transform the styling into something 1/2 as nice as the recent pictures in the Moon Bros forum... Does anyone know skilled designers (or unofficial ones) with experience in loft transformations that don't charge an arm and two legs?

A friend told me that all loft ceilings from the 5th or 6th floor on up are painted white; the others painted grey. Don't ask me why, this is just what I heard.
