For me, add The Alexa, and it's a three-way tie. (Since I've always had a strange fascination with department stores, though, I still think I'd lean toward this one if I were in the market for a loft.)

Oh, and I want scale models of Georgian Square, Southtown Centre, and Loughborough Commons- along with a small arsenal of firecrackers.

(Relax, they're just models, so no one would get hurt.)

Here are a few more pics. They are hard to take since I can't take the plexi cover off. The detail on the model is amazing in person. Please feel free to come see the scale model sometime. The Laurel Sales Center is open DAILY: M-F 11-6, Sat. & Sun. 11-5 and located at the corner of 7th and Washington.

Wow! That looks amazing! It just keeps getting better and better.

I *loved* shopping in this building as a kid, so it would be really cool to live in it. I have very fond memories of holiday shopping here, and many lunches/dinners were had at the old Missouri Room restaurant. I'm so glad to see this put to such a cool re-use.

Thanks so much for posting these!

The Laurel at MX, from your post at 2:20, one of the pictures of the model looks like the roof will be "green". Will the roof have grass or some type of living roof (like the Ford Manufacturing Plant in Dearborn Michigan)?

The Laurel and the Arcade building will feature green roofs.

Nah, Chinese model builders are a dime-a-dozen, literally, well almost.

Although many scale models are now made in China and South Africa, The Laurel model was made in Chicago:

Interesting, it is so much cheaper I thought everybody was making them elsewhere now, of course, how do you know CMEW doesn't outsource much of the work like everything else?

Probably 40%, but could very easily be different.

I LOVE the display unit at the Laurel!! The design is great. The finishes are exceptional. Jay, if the zebra wood table goes missing...

I thought I remembered Jay or someone else here mentioning that Spring 2008 was the target date for construction, so it sounds like everything is on track! 8)

Now, about that skybridge...

I just found these pics in my camera from November and December. These are views from the 9th floor at The Laurel:

The view is nice, but the interiors look terrible. No way I'm buying there.

I would imagine the first photo would be one hell of a marketing tool, if taken at night.

Aww...you guys are picky. For that view and that location, I'd bring my cleaning supplies and start moving in now!

Oh, crap! I wasn't thinking about basics like electricity, access, heating/cooling, etc.

I certainly would call the Laurel home if my resources allowed. I think the vibrancy of the transit stops that surround the building really help make that location stand out. At least for me. Alas, I can only afford a closet there :(

Over Christmas, the wife and I stopped in. The model unit was nice looking, but the prices (as compared to New Jersey) were even better. This is a great development and if we were moving back to St. Louis, would give it strong consideration.

Anyone interested in an oversized Laural/MX banner? The hugh banner on the est side of pedestrian walkway over washington ripped off in the wind and is blowing down six street!
