This building is STILL such an eyesore. Coming back from that Rams ......um.... "game????", I was looking up at the building and going, "Ugh...... what an impression for ANYONE visiting STL".
Do we have any idea when there will be some visible work on this building so that we know some progress is being made?
I think that "UGH" feeling is going to stick around as long as the skybridge remains intact. Didn't we hear early to mid '08 as the timeframe for the demolition? If so, I'd say around then.

Since Pyramid is so into banners, I think it'd be great to hang one on the back of The Laurel, so people entering and exiting the Edward Jones Dome/America's Center would see this if they haven't already seen the banners on the skybridge over Washington Avenue.

PRE-SALES = CONSTRUCTION LOAN = PROGRESS
So far, we're on track to start construction in spring '08. Believe me, no one wants this building to be under construction (and looking good) than me !

Laurel rep... could you please post the latest pre sales figures(if possible)? Best of luck and thanks for the response.
Sorry about the grammar/typos! We currently have 18 reservations. We are also holding 6 additional units off the market while we look at combining units. Our largest units have been very well received and we are thinking about adding more large units to the mix.

At what point will marketing begin on the Concord?

From what I hear the financial partner in the Concord backed out and Pyramid is looking for another one.
In my opinion, this building has the same "positives" that any BPV building would have. It is right next to a sporting avenue, in the center of DT, has a beautiful view of East (others are beautiful city views to) and is next to excellent eateries.
I would love to see this building be refurbished ASAP. I have relatives I take to the Rams game (easier to get tickets nowadays) and would love to point out that the last "beautiful ugly building" is soon to be renovated.

I know where I'm going for lunch.
I'm a season ticket holder but sold my tickets Rams/Packers tickets to some cheeseheads for $25 above face. (I know I sold out: but it paid for Christmas.)
WOW, indeed. I had no idea work had progressed so much on the interior.
Some random notes:
1. Whoever was responsible for what Dillards did to that building should be shot.
2. Seeing those pics reminds me of when my mom and a friend of hers would take all of us kids downtown on December 8th (the feast of the Immaculate Conception when we had the day off from school) and would look at the animated display windows, visit Santa at Famous and have lunch in the St. Louis Room. Then, the whole crew (11 of us all together) would schlep over to Stix and visit Santa there and ride the monorail in the toy department. This was an all day affair since it was so crowded and everyone was totally exhausted when the day was over. Its so sad to see downtown virtually empty now, even in the middle of a work day. It wasn't that long ago the sidewalks were overflowing with people.
3. I remember all too well when those elevators were operated by uniformed and gloved personnel who announced the stops and the merchandise that was on each floor. On the main floor, they had to wait for the elevator director with their clicker to give them permission to go up. Of course, Famous and Vandervoort's had these, too.
Impressive and interesting with the new atrium space.
More interesting is the stuff under the hanging ceiling. In many department stores, including the Herald Square Macys and the Downtown Famous Barr, while the columns have some detail, the rest of any exposed ceiling can look kinda junky. The height and detail on the Stix celling make it seem like opening it all up was far more of an option aesthetically.
The atrium is not new, from what I understand. Paul Hohman of Pyramid Architects was telling me Thursday night that it was cut in back before Stix was bought out by Dillards and was to be headquarters space. It was never actually finished when Dillards took over.
Thanks for posting the photos, I really wanted to see the atrium after hearing about it.
^ That would make sense. For years my dad told me that Stix had "gutted" the upper floors of the building, removing everything wall to wall above the remaining shopping floors, including the floors themselves, but that never made any sense when looking at the building.
