We need people like this in St. Louis, driving truly positive change.

I hope he gets his way.

Let’s hope a billionaire gets his way so that the land he wants to unload happens “"Northside split the tax credit proceeds with Clayco affiliates. And city records suggest those companies still hold liens on the Bottle District property."

That would be awesome!! I wonder if Clayco, Dewitt III, The Taylors and other Billionaires get together and discuss investments for the city lol… I might be dreaming but that’s how it starts.

Perhaps Kroenke can throw a billion into this fund.  He will be sending it our way regardless.

I'm not saying anything else beyond what I tweeted besides it's good someone took a look at the property.

Oddly absent and/or obfuscated are the elevated highway lanes.

Is this speculation that McKee might finally give up his holdings here? It's a ***** blight.

I wouldn’t dig into absent anything. It’s just a rendering after all. Interesting to see that even this amount of thought while still on the minimal side was done. Would be good to get something almost anything built here.

Broadway Ford bought some, or all, of the Bottle District a while back from McKee.

I did see some building permits for Broadway Ford, but they weren't very descriptive.. Northside was still the owner as I saw across a multiple of properties in the immediate area.

I'm not guessing they're saying the elevated lanes are going anywhere, but trying to hide or ignore them toward the beauty of an, albeit very preliminary rendering, just feels odd.

Thanks for sharing Chris.  I agree this needs to be a priority, same with Chouteau's Landing.. it's some of the first real estate people see when they arrive in Downtown proper from either direction N/S.

Sounds like the warehouse north of the dome had another large fire yesterday.

Where is the leadership in St. Louis? can't think of a city that thinks it's acceptable to have this level of blight near it's central business district. I know I'm beating a dead horse, but the views from our highways coming into our downtown does not say prosperous region. How much money would it take to beautify the highways and remove blight in the city. It's freaking embarrassing.

I have to agree that the state of the Bottle District area, right next to our convention center, is embarrassing.

^I've long felt that the City should start an effort to clean up buildings & infrastructure along highways, especially I-70 from Downtown, north. Clean up the abandoned buildings along the highway, make them at least look presentable, remove buildings beyond repair, remove tall trees and grass overgrowth, pick up trash & demo buildings beyond saving. The view for MANY people passing through is via I-70. It looks absolutely awful.

There is a large building south of Kingshighway at 44, huge gang tags, same with the buildings & bridges near Paddy O's at 44 near the poplar. Assuming this is private property, hold the owners accountable. Fine them, bring them into court. I'm guessing that never rarely happens.

Changing the optics goes a long way in changing the perception. I would love for the City to start paying attention to this stuff.

Drove by this morning and there was smoke coming out still. A couple of firetrucks in front.

They should turn this building into a modest, mixed use district, with a big tower to match the stadium. Around 200m including parking.

I'd like to think the tower has parking in it, so the height of the tower is bigger.

Thinkin something like this but with the density of the Twitter render. (The other buildings to the right are placeholders)

Imagine a large mosaic plaza with the elevated vess bottle in the center, connecting the plaza to the tower, where people can learn about the Bottle District's history, while also connecting the dome with a sports theme.

A large artificial beach/pool could be there with a large separated jacuzzi and wave machine, integrated into the surrounding area and side walks, which would be widened.

A little childish, but would definitely bring in and spread out tourist foot traffic across downtown.

Think like the waterline in Austin, TX! just not as tall:)

I've never understood why we have never gotten an indoor water park. Something along the lines of a Great Wolf Lodge. H

^ exactly. St Louis is a hot place, so it's surprising about the lack of water parks that we have, especially big ones or in indoor ones

^Historically I think we had a lot of public baths and pools. The Forest Park Highlands had a quite impressive one. There was an enormous one downtown. The old pictures are wild. But I gather they were racially integrated from fairly early on, but gender segregated. When they became gender integrated I understand there were problems. (There was a whole NPR long form thing about it fifteen or twenty years ago.) I guess we can't have nice things.

Man, the revitalized chouteau Lake would have been so cool, I honestly hope they still do something similar with that giant lot near the stadium and railways, maybe one of those construction projects where they build over railways.

Off topic, but I still think we need to make the Forest Park river/lake system swimable. Maybe even dig out a big new lake in the flat golf course north of the Grand Basin.

Scenic, outdoor swimming could be a gamechanger for the vibe of the City.

Wish we could turn the Mississippi into a long white sand beach, or at least the arch park area of it.

Agreed, I think FPF has the firepower to make it happen. Little beaches and swimming areas and more water activity like classic rowboats would be big for retaining and attracting younger talent

Great Rivers have any plans that still involve River Des Peres cleanup or the Chouteau lake plan for their greenways? These things showed up in early plans I believe

I just don't see sand staying in place in front of the Arch. The current is . . . a lot. My dream is to see more boats there again. A maritime museum would be awesome. A transportation museum showcasing our rivers and our rails both would be even better. Boats and restaurants. And lord, but what I'd give to have the tracks back along the riverfront so a dinner train could trundle in front of the Arch. If the streets not even open . . . It's about a 1.6 mile gap from Gratiot to Dickson where the tracks are missing now. One of my earliest memories is seeing 4449 in her Freedom Train guise sitting in front of the Arch when I was a kid. Trains and boats. That's what we need. Sand is nice, but probably better to put it somewhere it'll stay for a little while. Up around Grafton, maybe?
