Indeed, the blue is great. But the white is terrible. Traditionally, people have highlighted the beauty of brick by painting brickmold, sashes and trim a slightly-to-moderately contrasting color. Monotone schemes sometimes work on new construction, but fall flat on old buildings like the A.D. Brown.

I have to agree about the color of the woodwork on the Bogen. It is not very attractive. I spoke to one of the builders and asked him about the doors and he said that the present ones are just temporary. When their tenant moves in they can choose a real door. I heard a rumor of who their tenant is, but I'm not sure if it is set in stone yet-but maybe will be soon.

I heard from John (one of the main people in Jacob development) that it was Good Works. His comment was they were a "loft type", trend setting store, but with a twist to it.... they are "affordable" . I will try to get more details, but twill be good to start getting some good commercial ventures in the city.
You know.... personally.... I would be willing to pay more for goods made in America than China. Now THAT would be a store I would like to see.
I actually know of some people who pulled out supposedly with the threat of lawsuit from both sides ...
Bogen said they had an "oral agreement" to start doing some upgrades for this person, and when the person found out (after getting a bill in the many 10's of thousands of dollars), they said they'd never agreed to anything of the sort and had only proposed the upgrades ... and in fact hadn't ever even seen a price for the upgrades. They in fact were let out of their K, though (after losing their earnest money down).
But that's second hand, so take it for what it's worth.
I also feel like I noticed a TON of reservations that dropped (but again, I could be wrong). That worries me about this building. And now it looks like Good Works is going into Bankers Lofts instead of Bogen. But It's so beautiful, maybe none of this matters.

The "construction side" is currently the back-side; I walk that alley daily. Lots of newly cut holes for windows and continued removal of debris. They've got the bucket-crane constantly in use back there. Can't speak to the interior work, though, I've not had the opportunity to see inside recently.
Hi, we actually bought a unit here and stop by frequently to nose around at the progress. The inside is coming along very nicely in my opinion, they are starting on the top floors and working the way down. Most of the top floors all have the walls up, baseboards up, tile, cabinets, counters, appliances, etc. They are looking to get people in on schedule or maybe slightly ahead of time. They had originally told us July/August...so I was expecting Sept at least. They said this week that it is looking like July now.
I don't know the whole story with the people backing out with their upgrade problem, but everyone at Jacob has been so nice and wonderful to work with...which was one of the reasons we chose the Bogen even though we thought it was a little more expensive. We had a spreadsheet that listed all of the upgrades and pricing and we've had to turn in a check for half the upgrades up front. Who knows, but hopefully it was just 1 isolated event of miscommunication because our experience has been really good so far.
It's a bummer they lost Goodworks, but hopefully something else cool will go in there...I can't imagine it sitting vacant or having problems getting someone in to that location.
