Bogen is German for Arch, referring to the many arched windows on the facade. Do a google image search for "St. Louis Bogen" and up pops picks of the St. Louis Arch.

Thanks,

I noticed today that they are powerwashing the wash ave part of the facade and they have an enclosed wood corridor wall all the way around the Wash ave side and tucker side. I figured they were going to have to use a more harsh medium to remove the years of dirt and pollution on the exterior. Do they usually powerwash the buildings first and then sandblast or do you guys think powerwashing with water will suffice in refurbishing the facade?

BTW here is a better rendering.........

Sandblasting is among the harshest methods for cleaning a wall. A much more common method is scrubbing, powerwashing, and a mild acid wash.

Actually, I saw them powerwashing - not sand blasting as posted above.

This is one of the most beautiful and elegant buildings in all of downtown adn the Wash Ave. loft district IMO.

I am so excited about this buildings future and tru "entrance" to the Wash Avenue west area.

Just received an update from Jacob Development on The Bogen.

  • - Demolition continues.

    - Asbestos removal will be completed on Tuesday. This is a big milestone for us worried about worker safety.

    - Sandblasting has been completed on the first floor and it looks very cool. They will be working on this restoration for a couple months to come.

    - Not too much progress on ramp to basement parking area. The back of the building has been a busy area.

    - Sales Center - Our Audio/Visual and Design teams are coming up with interactive displays that may knock your socks off.

    - Tuck pointing and restoration on the exterior of Washington Ave has begun.

I noticed the model unit through the windows during the Art Walk last Friday night. Looks pretty cool.

I have a contract on one of the units in The Bogen. Just curious who else does. Would be interested in getting to know future neighbors.

Jacob Development has announced that demolition is now at about 90% complete and the asbestos removal has been completed. Sandblasting has also been completed on 1st, 2nd, 6th, 7th, and 8th floors.

Tuck pointing and restoration on the exterior of Washington Ave is complete as is the historic iron restoration on the face of the building.

Designs for the penthouse suites have been released and are available at the sales center. Hours: M-F 10am-7pm, Saturday 11am-4pm.

No one has posted anything on this building in a while. Anyone else read this forum that has a unit in the Bogen?

It has beautiful architecture and provides a nice view from my loft. You'll have a great place! http://picasaweb.google.com/innov8ion/L ... 4412376082

Hi, we just reserved our unit at the Bogen this week. I would have liked to have one at this location that faced south onto Washington, but they were nearly all taken or out of our price range. So we have the northern view, which isn't great, but we really like the floorplan and location of the Bogen. I'm hoping too that maybe more people with units start posting here! I can't wait until we move in this summer...but seems so far away :(

Picked out my upgrades this week. Looks like things are going well. Has anyone been to the Walkthroughs?

You'll be happy with the northern view choice vs. Washington ave. We faced a similar situation when we bought at Bankers Lofts. The one we wanted, on washington, wasn't available, so we took our 2nd choice on the north side. We lived at Rudman for two months before moving into Bankers and our rental unit was on Washington. Having been at Bankers now on the north side for a month, i can tell you i don't miss the noise of Washington ave one bit. Those BiState busses and the traffic...we don't hear that on the north side. Personal preference i suppose, just sharing our experience.

Good luck with your new place! Downtown is fantastic!

I no longer think the northern view is secondary to the Washington ave side. We faced a similar situation when we bought at Bankers Lofts. what's with the color of windows/trim on the first and second levels of the building? Is that a primer or is that the actual color?

Hopefully gray. The brown is dreadful. With the "Meridian" and its ridiculous color scheme cater-corner from this building, I hope the developers here use good taste.

Actually, the blue on the Meridian looks quite nice.

I too like the blue on the Meridian. I just wish they would do the whole building, instead of just the first two floors.

I wish they would have done the front doors. I don't know why they left them brown. Hopefully, that will change.
