Hey all, for those wanting the tower on city hall back, check out this link I found:

http://stlcin.missouri.org/history/stru ... er_ID=1326

It basically says the tower was dismantled due to structural corrosion, so I don't even know if it's architecturally feasible to reattach it.

I think if they ever do it, it should be when the ballpark village and bottle district are completed, as a statement saying 'st. louis - we're back on top' :D

You know, there's always some "engineer" saying what's "possible". I don't care - and hope I never do. I want the tower back! Everything's possible - where there's a will, there's a way!

Now let's see . . . something on topic . . .

The cleaning looks good and it's great to see a what appears to be the original cornice. Is there any incentive for developers to restore a lost cornice? I was at the bike race on Wash Ave this past weekend and was struck by the number of buildings that look nice, but incomplete. It would nice if to receive historic tax credits, a developer actually had to complete an historic renovation.

My Girlfriend and I have signed ALL paperwork and contracts. We were told that we will be contacted somewhere around November 06' to start picking out colors and counter tops. We put down $1500 to start back in May and we recently had to put down the remaining $6000. I want to ask the same question that someone asked last week.... Can someone please post a current price list? I'm interested to see what the current prices are at this time. Kelli tells me that it'll be going up soon.... 3%.

I've never known LoftWorks to post price lists, but if you just call Kelli I'm positive she will answer any questions you have.

I didn't have any particular questions. I was just wondering what is the price of the loft that we purchased back in May at the present moment. I did not want to bother her with that issue. I was just hoping that SOMEONE had a current list available and was able to fact it too me. Thanks and take care.

They won't have a price listed for that unit anymore since you have purchased it. A current price list will only show your unit either being reserved or under contract. If you want to know what they would sell it for today versus back in May you would have to call the Loftworks team.

Yeah, I know that. I just wanted a list of the prices for a friend of mine. But, Thanks anyway. I just called Lindsay and she faxed me one. I have another question that it may be a little impossible to answer.... Would anybody here have an Idea of how we ALL would move into the building when it's time? I heard at a different building they moved each floor in one at a time and gave them all 45days to do so.... Just wondering how true is that info?? Thanks,

They generally close people floor by floor. So say you have 10 units per floor. Typically they will close one or two residents on the first floor, say on Monday/Tuesday. Then they work through the rest of the residents on that floor into that week and maybe the next. So it may take two weeks or so to close the entire floor. Then 30 - 45 days later they start the process all over again on the next floor.

There usually is not any real problems with multiple residents all trying to move in on the same day. And again, this is a general rule of thumb, there are exceptions. I have seen as many as 6 or 7 closings happen in one day, and even then, moving in was not an issue for anyone. People are good at coordinating with each other and everyone usually has different time frames to move in. A lot of people like to paint and do some finishes themselves before actaully moving all their stuff in.

Hey Ks.. from floors 9 thru 16 which totals 102 there's 69 of them AVAILABLE... there's 8 CONTRACTED (one of them being ours)... and there's 25 RESERVED. From what I'm hearing, completion day is Jan 08'. They said that they may get done sooner but who knows. I'm Praying that it's sooner then later so I can get out of the suburbs! Take care and I hope that answered your question.

Do yourself a favor and plan for later. Things always pop up that the developer can't control and push back your move-in date.

Has anyone been to the office to see the display for The Syndicate? The kitchen and all is BEAUTIFUL! There was just one thing that I did not like and that was the microwave being at knee level....W.

Yeah that's a Loftworks thing. I don't like that knee level stuff either, but you can change it to a hanging microwave during selections. I don't know of anyone who opted for that kee level weirdness.

Microwaves in base cabinets are very common. About half of my clients put their microwaves in the island or pantry, basically hidden out of the way since a microwave isn't always aesthetically pleasing. It often ruins the clean lines of wall cabinetry, especially in contemporary designs. For those design purposes, these days it's almost always better out of sight than the typical installation above a stove under a half cabinet. Cabinet companies are now making appliance cabinets specifically for microwaves, warming drawers, raise up appliance shelves, etc, and it's no longer a custom job.

I actually did the same thing in my kitchen. Having a microwave at knee level isn't any weirder than having your oven range at knee level, it's just that everyone is used to seeing them hanging from a cabinet. Personal preference I suppose; it's certainly not weird though.

^ I was more thinking from an ergonomics standpoint rather than a looks standpoint. It's irritating to have to bend over every time you want to microwave something. Most people I talked too felt the same way. I guess if you wanted to conceal you microwave to preserve contemporary design, you could easily build it into the shoulder level cabinets and have it concealed and convenient.

Two very good points Urban and Contractor. I can see both of your point of views. I'm personally just not use to a microwave being at knee level. Especially if I have had one to many Martini's and I'm trying to warm up some food at 1am!! I was writing to see if this was a common thing and could it be redesinged or placed somewhere else. W.
