They will be filming "The Informant" directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Matt Damon in Decatur, IL for the next 3-4 weeks. I can't believe they are going to spend that long there. They will be severely depressed, bored, appaled and disgusted.
"The Lucky Ones", with Tim Robbins, Rachel McAdams, etc is coming out in summer 2008. Ref: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0981072/
I guess it's safe to say that Cantina Bar Tales (aka Say Goodnight) is dead on the water? The movie was filmed in '06 and there haven't been any significant status updates since. It can't possibly take more than two years for a low-budget film to be released? Anyone have any info?

Wasn't 'Parenthood' filmed in St. Louis?
That's my favorite movie and could imagine taking place there.

It was set in Chicago. They took a trip to St. Louis to watch a Cardinals game.

It was set in St. Louis but filmed in Florda. Steve Martin's character was supposed to live in Kirkwood: yet there was a massive lake out behind his house.
There's a scene in the movie where a police car is labeled Kirkwood, but it was the wrong color.
I thought it was Chicago. The trip to and from the Cardinals game looked like a day trip. Ok, well I guess I'm wrong. I've never seen the cop car. I just assumed they were pretty far from the stadium.
This film was directed by Alton IL native Brian Jun. Some scenes were also shot in Alton.

In Vacation the Griswolds get lost in the St. Louis 'Hood and miscellaneous damage is done to the family truckster. People alway say that the scene was set in East St. Louis, but in the movie the scene happens right after they come over the Poplar Street Bridge into St. Louis.
Anybody see Trespass in the early 90's with Bill Paxton, Ice-T and Ice Cube. It was filmed right across the river in a huge abandoned factory that you can still see from the interstate as you come into town. It was a decent action flick about three firefighters who find a treasure map in a fire, that leads them to East St. Louis, and they get caught in the middle of a gang fight and their own greed. It was originally called Looters but after the LA riots they changed the movie's name.
where is this abandoned factory?

I have tried watching Video online from Escape From New York, but it's so dark I can't recognize anything. Apparently Union Station and the Fox Theater were used, though both are renovated now.
A remake is supposed to come out in 2009. I wonder where it will be filmed. St. Louis isn't so abandoned anymore.
Part of "The Island" was filmed in Detroit, apparently due to its massive abandoned structure. I read recently that in 2003 there were 40,000 abandoned lots in Detroit and almost 1/3 of the city is blighted.
But you hear more mention of St. Louis in older movies and TV. "It Happens Every Spring" is a movie from the 40s about a scientist that develops a compound resistant to wood, which he puts on baseballs and he pitches for St. Louis. It is not the Browns or the Cardinals, some fictional team. No team names are mentioned. He goes on the road and they stadiums say "Baltimore stadium" or they just say Chicago or whatever the case may be.
Also, June Cleaver was from East St. Louis.
And there was a soccer movie filmed on the Hill a few years ago. Fever Pitch (which is too painful to watch) was partially filmed here.

Did ya'll know that the recent blockbuster, Sex and the City, was set in New York (of course) Los Angeles and--St. Louis!!!! YES!
One scene took place in ST. Louis, but it was an interior scene that was, no doubt, shot in the studio.

Not sure of this has been posted yet but Showtime is showing the movie Ghost Image this month. Its on at some pretty inconvenient times and the story and writing is pretty weak. However its kind of a thrill to hear all the local references along with some great shots of downtown.

A former co-worker of mine produced this movie and I honestly thought for it's budget it was pretty decent. Anyone who likes STL should check it out as they did all sorts of downtown scenery shots.
FYI, if you don't get Showtime I believe it is also showing on TMC.
