So, what brings you here?

Stumbled upon this website doing research on loft properties. We're selling our house in the city, and we were looking to move further in- Benton Park/Soulard area...and decided to mix things up, and go for a loft. Glad we made the decision, we're very much looking forward to it.

What part of the STL are you from?

Not originally from STL. But currently own a house in St. Louis Hills.

How old are you?

30

What do you do, or study?

Studied at Mizzou, which is funny, because i don't know too many people that actually did any studying there. Currently, as my name suggests, i own a kitchen, bath, granite, flooring, etc company.

(The Ultimate St Louis "Get to Know You" question) What High School did you go to ?

I didn't go to high school in st. louis, so i usually answer this question with something really witty...but i'm not coming up with anything witty at the moment, sigh. Disappointing isn't it?

Whoever runs this site, kudos to you - amazing stuff. St. Louis is a fascinating city, and i love every bit of it (even Budweiser.) I've travelled quite a bit, here and abroad, and there certainly is something unique about St. Louis and the people that live here. Those who say we're a cow town, i just say this to them... "MOOOOOO!!" and go on about my way. Lots of good on the horizon for this city, proud to be a part of it.

I just got asked to tell about myself so here we go!

So, what brings you here?

My husband and I decided to move to St Louis to be closer to family (no we have never lived here before) and get out of the rat race in DC. We have family in the suburbs but knew that was not right for us. Once we saw South City we knew we were in the right place - DC without the cost. :)

What part of the STL are you from?

Not from here but have lived all over (Chicago, Houston, Raleigh, DC, Mexico).

How old are you?

Do I have to tell???? Early 30's.

What do you do, or study? I work in Emergency Management consulting. I can prettly much do that anywhere so this was an easy move for me.

Thanks Sushiq, there seems to be a lot of people escaping DC for St. Louis. Wish I were one of them. DC is great, but you know what I mean. Thanks for the introduction. Congrats on discovering South St. Louis!!!!!!

I've been registered to the site and an infrequent poster for a while now, but never noticed this thread. So, with that in mind, I'll go ahead and post my info.

Q: So, what brings you here?

A: I discovered urbanstlouis.com (previously known as stlrising.com or builtstlouis.com maybe???) after doing a search for StL forums on line. Also, I now live in the KC Metro and am involved heavily with kcskyscrapers.com/newforum. Several of you have found that site w/in the last 24 months as well. urbanstl.com has proven to offer exactly what I love and enjoy. Updates on many issues within StL and StL Co as well as a place to chat with folks that grew up in the same area I did.

Q: What part of the STL are you from?

A: StL County - Bridgeton to be exact

Q: How old are you?

A: 35

Q: What do you do, or study?

A: Mortgage broker, play pick up basketball and referee basketball

Q: (The Ultimate St Louis "Get to Know You" question) What High School did you go to ?

A: North County Christian School - '88

Someone else on this thread mentioned builtstlouis.com and it's been so long since I registered to stlouisrising.com, I couldn't remember the name.

It was most definitely stlouisrising.com.

So, what brings you here?

Information, motivation, education, obsession...and ammunition.

What part of STL are you from?

Grew up in St. Charles and Ellisville. Lived in Palm Beach County for 10 years (unfortunately). Came back in 2000, had a short stint in Shrewsbury, then bought a house in Southampton in 2001. Love the neighborhood!...but itching to move further into the city.

How old are you?

Just turned 28.

What do you do, or study?

REALTOR?, STL "Promoter" (my friends in FL say I must get paid by the plug)

What high school did you go to?

Boca Raton High School (Boca Raton, FL) and William T. Dwyer H.S. (Palm Beach Gardens, FL) I hate it when people ask me that question, but it is so amusing to witness it in play in a social environment. I really don't think people can help it...it must be instinctual.

I never actually desired to move back to STL. But out of desperation to leave the West Palm Beach Wasteland, I did. I knew it was cheap, so that was my motivating factor...and I just figured I'd stay for a year or two and then move on to bigger and better places. Much to my surprise (and delight!), I arrived at the beginning of a rebirth. It has been one of the most amazing and exhilarating experiences of my life. With each passing year the city becomes more enthralling...I just can't imagine living anywhere else. It has transformed me into a whole new person, with an appreciation for things that I probably would have never gained anywhere else, and for that I will be forever indebted to it. This city is my muse, and my soul.

...sorry, enough with the spiritual hooha.

Hello. I've been lurking for a while and thought I should post once in a while. I'm a high school student living in Ellisville (ick). I don't like living in the suburbs, but I can't really do anything about that for another year. I used to think I hated living in St. Louis having moved here from southern CA. But, now that I've been doing more in the city, I've seen how great it is. I just hate these suburbs.

I've started to come to this forum so that I can find out everything that's going on in the city since I can't live in it right now. Also, urban development interests me.

My interests are lighting/video for live production. I like to watch movies a lot too. If I major in film/video production, I'm looking into going to Webster to stay in the St. Louis area, at least for a couple years.

Welcome. Hopefully you can escape from suburban hell soon.

I've heard and seen good things from Webster's film program. That may be a good choice. I know a guy that graduated from Webster last year that has made some good films.

Another good thing, is even though Webster Groves is a suburb, the school is still fairly urban. There are wonderful amenities within easy walking distance from the college. Both Old Webster and Old Orchard are easy to get to, and it's still only a 10 minute drive to downtown. :)

So, what brings you here? I like talking about the city which I love more than my left testicle.

What part of the STL are you from? Born in Bissel Hills, then moved to St. Peters, then New Melle for approx. 10 years, now Mardel Avenue at Hampton in North Hampton Neighborhood. Plan on moving downtown after law school, or after I get hitched, which will occur after I graduate UMSL; it all depends on me and my girls finances.

How old are you? 21 on 6 Feb 2006

What do you do, or study? Political Science Student at UMSL, junior. Owner of St. Louis PC Solutions, Inc., a computer repair firm, and an employee of Spectrum Brands Inc.

The Ultimate St Louis "Get to Know You" question? I love walking around the city and looking at buildings whilst drinking a Schafly Oatmeal Stout.

What High School did you go to? Lutheran "Nazi" High St. Charles

1. what Brings me here? Well technically i'm not there but my dream is to one day go back there and work for a law firm.

2. What part of St. Louis are you from? The Fenton area, My dad grew up in Kirkwood and my grandfather actually brought some of you into this world, he was a Doctor

3. How old are you? I was born in July of 1990 and i turn 16 in July of 2006. I get my Drivers license!! YES!!

4. What do i study? Well i'm a student at the largest high school in the entire United States Seven Lakes High school (Even though there are only 900 students its still a freaking huge school.)

5. Why do I like St. Louis? because i grew up there, the Rams and cardinals are there, it doesnt suck like Houston where the only attraction is a very viscus black liquid that runs the world economy, and i just am excited about the redevelopment of st. Louis and love to see new buildings being built and the city coming back to life.

Yes the last question i jazzed up a bit because i answered thaT in the prior question so i said why i liked St. Louis instead.

anyone older than 30 and born at St. Joes Hospital might have been birthed by my grandfather. Now that would be cool.

900?

Large?

OK, my school was about 1100 and it was 4A...900 would be 3A...not real big there guy.

Did you leave a zero off that tally? Now that would be a big school...

wasn't a pissing contest, I just couldn't imagine anyone claiming 900 was the largest school in the country. Only used mine as a reference for a LACK of size. And yes, you win. :D
