Hello!

I just got an email on my blog from a poster here who wanted me to see his 7 slingers in 7 days routine...which was totally cool.

So, I'm the guy that runs the 13 Blog and my posts are also printed in St. Louis City Edition.

So, what brings you here?

My interest in development. I've always been a fan of cities, skyscrapers, and (oddly enough) highway interchanges.

What part of the STL are you from?

I moved to St. Louis from Tulsa, OK. Before that, I lived in West Texas for 25 years.
Currently I reside downtown. (and love it)

How old are you?

29

What do you do, or study?

I work as a Producer/Editor for Creative Services at KMOV Channel 4.

(The Ultimate St Louis "Get to Know You" question) What High School did you go to ?

Wylie High School. Abilene, TX

What up. My name is Pat. I've been following this forum for a long time now, about a year or so. Always have thought it was a great place to learn about STL, places to visit, new projects, etc. Love St. Louis and want to see it become greater.

I'm 26, working as an Electrical Engineer in South City. I was born in Washington DC, grew up in Webster Groves, and moved to the CWE once I moved back from college (Mizzou - engineering).

Went to St. Louis U High.

This is a great site. I point all of my friends here.

^ Cool, welcome! Glad you enjoy the site and I hope you continue to post comments. The site can get a bit...how do you say...wonky at times in regards to urban design, architecture, etc. It can also be less than informative at times (usually when the subjects of crime and schools come up), but it's always better when more people participate. I hope you share your thoughts on living in the CWE, BJC's expansion across Forest Park Avenue, Forest Park, etc.

Hello All,

I decided to join up properly, partly because I now coordinate architecture walking tours downtown, but mostly because I just love the city.

I am from Minneapolis MN (North High), but have been living here for 7 years. Started out in O'Fallon MO (not a big fan), then on to Maplewood, maybe downtown next. I love working downtown and can see/hear the demo work being done in STL City Centre. Tear it up!

1. I've never heard anything but good about these forums. I used to spend a great deal of time (and was a mod) on another forum about cities and their data ::wink, wink::

2. I'm from St. Peters/St. Charles and Rock Hill (divorced parents) but my mom's family has been in St. Louis for several generations so I'd say I have an aunt or a family friend in just about every corner of the city and its suburbs.

3. mid 20s

4. Went to school for journalism before truly realizing the extent of the job shortage in that market. Since moving from Chicago to Kansas City I've been doing admin work and I'm about to go back to school to get my masters + certification and teach high school english (clearly what I should have done all along!)

What brings you here?

I just moved to the Washington Ave. Loft District and I am looking to get involved with the vibrant, growing atmosphere of downtown STL, as well as stay on top of hot topics concerning the area.

What part of the STL are you from?

Originally from Florissant (North County)

How old are you?

23

What do you do, or study?

I received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla in May of 2010. I am now a Global Product Manager for APC by Schneider Electric.

(The Ultimate St Louis "Get to Know You" question) What High School did you go to ?

I absolutely despise this question haha, but I went to Desmet Jesuit High School in Creve Coeur, MO

Just looking to meet new people, experience all that downtown has to offer, and enjoy the nightlife of the area

What brings me here? I love St. Louis and want to move back. Unlike many who lived in the area before college (as I did), part of my reason is get AWAY from my family. I've been hunting for resources to use as I attempt to find a job in the city within my range of interests.

What part am I from? Currently none of it, as I am living in Pennsylvania and before this I lived in Texas. Before Texas, however, I lived in the Metro East.

How old am I? Old enough to enjoy all the city has to offer, but young enough to know that I still have plenty of time before I settle down anywhere. I'm in my 20's, at the younger end of that group.

What did I study? I have my B.A. in Film and Digital Media from Baylor University. I might be mildly screwed for jobs in my field in St. Louis, but if I can find a way I want to have the best of both worlds - work in my field AND in St. Louis. I think it's high time people see all the wonderful things St. Louis has to offer.

(That sounded cheesy. My original wording was even cheesier.)

Where did I go to high school? OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO'Fallon, IL! To make it even better, I was in the marching band. Staying away from the creep of a director was easy enough, fortunately, and I even went on to do four more years of marching band at Baylor. I also think I need a few more O's in O'Fallon.

What brings me here?

A job orginally brought me to the Lou back in 96. I have here mostly since this time. I love baseball, so the Cardinals are part of the reason I'm here. I enjoy my Catholic faith, so the area's rich Catholic tradition is part of the reason I'm here too. I love city life but despise traffic, so the pace of St. Louis is a big reason I'm here as well. If you've ever sat for hours on the on 285 around Atlanta, you know what I mean.

As far as this site goes, I'm here because I like keeping tabs on my neighborhood while I'm deployed in Afghanistan. I miss home and, honestly, reading about it is theraputic for me. Plus I think I'll have some opinions along the way.

What part am I from?

Originally from everywhere (AF brat). In St. Louis I've lived in O'Fallon, IL, the South Dutchtown neighborhood, Creve Coeur, MO, and am now in Downtown West at Blu Cityspaces (which I really like).

How old are you?

I am 37 going on 25. I'm not joking.

Where did you study?

I graduated from the University of Georgia in 1995 with a BSEd. My first job was as a training specialist.

I am currently in the LCIE Program at Lindenwood University pursuing an MBA. I attend at the downtown campus. (I can walk to school!) Of course, I am currently taking break to play in the hills of Afghanistan for a year.

Where did you go to HS?

I figured this one out pretty quick. IF I were from St. Louis, I would have likely attended Desmet. Alas, not being from the area, I matriculated from a HS down in Warner Robins, GA.

And can someone tell me how to get my Blues avatar on my posts?!? I never fell in love with a hockey team growing up, so I am a Blues fan through and through.

1. "So, what brings you here?"
-- My love for St. Louis and its surrounding metro area.

2. "What part of the STL are you from?"
-- I'm actually not from St. Louis. I was born and raised in Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City.

3. "How old are you?"
-- I'm 22-years old.

4. "What do you do, or study?"
-- I'm an English major at the University of Kansas.

5. "(The Ultimate St Louis "Get to Know You" question) What High School did you go to?"
-- I went to Blue Valley North, located in Overland Park, Kansas.

I was born and raised in the suburbs of Kansas City, but I grew up loving St. Louis. Why? Well, my father was from there and I've always looked up to him. It was also home to the Cardinals, a team I obsessively love.

In truth, I probably love St. Louis more than any outsider should, but I don't care. I want to see the great city improve upon itself, and I want to see the metro area improve. I desire to see huge growth in the region, and I hope I'm there for it.

I'm hoping, hoping, hoping that the St. Louis China Hub will become a reality.

<~ My taxes go to Blue Valley North in OPKS, but heart belongs to St. Louis.

The drive from Cowtown to a real city isn't that far (3.5 hours +/-). I do it often.
