Cut to almost 7 years later...

I'm almost 34, Married, no kids but 2 dogs/2 cats. Just bought a house in Shaw. Have missed the activity of the StL activists for a while.

I'm somewhat involved in the restaurant scene, have worked intermittently with Entre Underground, but during the day I work IT at Wash U.

It's nice to be returned somewhat.

Hi all, I just joined the board. I was born in and grew up in St. Louis and attended the now defunct Grover Cleveland Senior High School, graduating in 1969.

After many years away, it's time to start thinking about retirement. I guess I'm the only person on the internet who is exploring the idea of moving back to St. Louis because I've found precious little about it.

What say you, wise ones?

I am the executive director of Saint Louis FORWARD, a non profit whose mission is promoting sustainability in the Saint Louis MSA. After taking a look at the site and these boards, I am more confident then ever that we can build Saint Louis into a greater city then it ever was before. Saint Louis Olympics in 2022? With your help anything is possible.

What do you want to learn about St. Louis?

Its not what, its who. Cities are populated and run by people. People decide what laws are on the books, people decide the name of streets, people keep the lights on. I want to meet people, learn from people and dream of growing together as a people.

Our media outlets are still under construction, but you can go ahead and bookmark http://www.saintlouisforward.org and check us out on Facebook and Twitter @stlfwd.

Thanks for reading!

What brings you here?

I've been a long time fan of nextSTL on Facebook and Twitter. Really have no good excuses for it taking so long for me to finally register here..

What part of the STL are you from?

Roots in U. City and Lafayette Square growing up, then moved out West/West Coast for 15 years. Been back about 10 years now and a proud Dogtown resident/homeowner.

How old are you?

37

What do you do, or study?

Recently laid-off from corporate America and taking some careful time to make sure the next stop is the "right" stop. Thinking that won't be corporate America.. So, as far as what I "do," that has included blogging and entrenching myself in learning photography. Most of that subject matter being St. Louis (find some of it here http://www.flickr.com/photos/41534509@N02/)

What do you want to learn about St. Louis?

I hate apathy. I'd like to connect with others like myself who love this city but at the same time think this city can do much better. I'm into the historical past of this city as well as uniting to found a stronger, progressive future.

Never noticed this forum until this morning. My apologies for taking so long to introduce myself...

So, what brings you here?
I enjoyed reading the articles on NextSTL, then I got bored one day and decided to read the message board, then I felt the need to post.

What part of the STL are you from?
Grew up in St. Charles, currently living downtown. (I've also lived in West Lafayette, IN, Edwardsville, IL, and Kansas City, MO).

How old are you?
- 28.

What do you do, or study?
- I'm a pharmacist at SLU Hospital for two more weeks, then I will be moving to Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.

What do you want to learn about St. Louis?
- I grew up loving the city and not understanding why my family or anyone for that matter would want to live in St. Charles. As soon as I got my driver's license I was in the city 3-4 nights per week and I moved to downtown as soon as I was able to. Since living here I have become more passionate than ever about my city and I think this forum (and website)is a great place to learn about goings on in the city that traditional news sources don't always cover, to meet like minded people, and to learn how to get involved in the renaissance of St. Louis.

Thanks for having me!

What's good NextStL community. Just a quick intro before I start giving my two cents on various topics. I've been a long time stalker of this forum. It always amazed me how much information is on the internet but whenever I was bored and looking for something to read I could never find anything interesting. So when I cam across the NestSTL forum I was immediatly hooked. I didn't even know I was into architecture and the built environment until I started reading. As I stated earlier, I always read the column but never felt the need to jump on because it seemed like every time I formulated an opinion on a topic someone would make the very point I was thinking. However recently I've noticed a lot of regulor posters no longer are as active, so here is my shot. For the record. I was born in St. Louis, moved to U-City at age 4 and graduated through U-City's school district in 1991. As soon as I was able, I moved back into the city (which I love) and lived in four different locations from north to south over a 15 year period. I moved to Ferguson only because I got married, had a child and couldn't afford private schools at the time. Had St. Louis been in a better place I would have never left. Never-the-less, I love St. Louis, especially the city and can't wait to move back. On to the next one  Peace!
