Might clash with the horns and wizard beard, though.

Meh, that's not that important. I think it'd be pretty cool. Plus, I've got the same colors in my staff.

My first visit to Landry's was last night for a large party of 14. I was somewhat impressed. The place was completely full by 7:00 p.m. Prices are much highly than I was prepared for ($18-26) However, the food was fairly good. Least expensive glass of wine was $6.75 for barely a 4 oz. pour, which screams tourist trap to me. It cost me an even $5.00 to park. It serves a purpose and a market niche.

I visited STL last week and ate at Hard Rock on Thurs. Pretty crowded about 9 pm, probably 3/4 full anyway. Nice mix of families, singles, after-work crowd, friends out, tourists. Glad it seems to be still going strong.

They've started work on the Einstein Bros. inside the mall yesterday (8/22). They boarded up the area that was the Aldos Pizza and the sundry store along with the entrance to the Hyatt human resources office.

Today they started taking down all the neon and other decorative framework.

The coffee roasters next door are closing up. Store is almost empty.

Also: I wonder when are they going to start breaking down the Hooter's store? They've got a nice 55" DLP HDTV still sitting up there if you can get it past security.

You could probably become a security guard there, take the tv on your first shift, and then quit because the job "wasn't for you." 8)

They finally started gutting the Union Station Hooters this week. Furniture and light fixtures have been removed along with the HDTV. (I wonder who got that?)

There is also progress with the Einstein Bros. Looks like the teardown continues. They were making a lot of noise yesterday.

I still figure that Hyatt is behind the Einstein Bros moving in since it seems to be within their area and not actual mall property. As far as we guess here at work is that Hyatt is giving the space to EB for cheap or free since who would really want to move into Union Station right now?

Jon Heyman, a sports columnist for cnnsi.com apparently is staying at the hotel in the mall. here's a quote from his monday column:
How nuts is this city for baseball? The decent-sized mall connected to my hotel is half-filled with stores selling Cardinals gear and paraphernalia. And if anyone expected the Cardinals to get this far, they would have been completely filled.
Certainly not the worst thing written about Union Station.

It looks like the Einstein Bros. will be open soon. The barriers are down and there were a bunch of "suits" poking around the place. Looks like everything is done and only finishing touches remain.

No signs but I would guess within a week or two.

I tried to read through all thirteen pages of this thread but just couldn't do it (about six pages)...

I'm thinking about taking my journalism class to lunch at Landry's after a tour of the Post-Dispatch. Recommend? It is pricey? (The students are supposed to bring $20 for lunch.) Thanks in advance for your responses!

Why not take them to the lobby cafe in the Great Hall? That way they can appreciate the magnificient architecture while getting a decent bite at under $20 (I think einsteins is in there now)

You should be able to cover that for lunch. Dinner is way to expensive but lunch will work.

I guess their opening was this morning: trying to capture the out of town crowd staying at the Hyatt for the World Series.

Went to Einsteins yesterday for a coffee - huge place and nice. I was also impressed with the free wireless and computer terminals. Good for the station.

Thanks for the recommendation! We're going to do lunch at the Station Grille (I think that's the place you were recommending) at the Hyatt in Union Station. 8)

On the old main concourse nestled between the two parts of the hotel. It's right next to the Cardinal store and the Bank of America ATM. It IS NOT up on the food court area.
