He says there are numerous people around the league more or less waiting for the Rams to bail.....I'd say the whole freaking country is waiting for that news as from the outside looking in, when would LA ever lose out to STL? But Stan's desires are all that matters and his silence is again doing nothing but make him look shrewd. Davis opens his mouth and gets subjected to this stuff essentially calling for him to sell.

Back to the field, after sleeping on this loss, a few thoughts: I hope there is some sort of discussion about Greg Robinson over the bye week. His absence is increasingly disturbing. Tre Mason not dressed? The defense was supposed to be the trademark of this team and somehow Gregg Williams made the front seven less effective.

Also, for what it's worth, this showed up Saturday evening on the Keep the Rams in STL FB page:

This is the most  thing I took out of it....
There are numerous people around the league more or less waiting for the Rams, whose lease in St. Louis also is up after the season, to announce an intent to move by the February deadline to do so.

I'd be curious as to who those "people" are, because it makes a pretty big difference.

Three votes I'd like to see:
St. Louis votes to raise taxes to keep the Rams in Sep 2000.
Any NFL city votes to raise taxes to keep the team after 10 straight non-winning record seasons.
LA votes now to raise taxes to get a team from today's domestic violence tolerant NFL.

Minnesota got a new stadium done without a vote. I would hope any vote would be structured to pass -- tax visitors the same way they tax me when I visit other cities. We're building stadiums all around the country now when we visit those cities and pay the car and hotel taxes. And have a ticket tax to tax me and other fans that go to the games. And have a new PSL program to raise money the same way the Cardinals and Rams have in the past. Most of the folks who bought the original PSLs have retired or died and didn't renew -- but there are new generations of fans that might want those prime seats in a brand new stadium and would pay for PSLs. And think about who benefits from St. Louis being a major league city and get them to pay a portion of their spoils to the cause of a new stadium. Tax Sunday broadcasters and beer vendors. The money shouldn't have to come from non-fans.

I don't think anyone answered:

Does anyone know if the tax currently in place being used to pay off the Dome has a sunset, or is it there indefinitely, and could potentially be used to help pay off a new stadium?

From Wikipedia so take it for what it is worth:

"Bonds for construction of the Dome are still being paid through 2021 with Missouri paying $12 million/year and St. Louis City and St. Louis County paying $6 million/year each."

This is the most interesting part of Burwell's segment. this reminds me of when Slay put an IKEA sign on his Facebook, for no apparent reason. Could he know something more.....? I sure hope so! We've heard nothing positive for some time.

I've pretty much hit a wall on this stuff. I've long wanted the Rams to stay and long believed they would. I don't know if it's smart financially, but I've always believed emotions can also be a valid reason for a decision.

But now I don't know. I've been struggling to give up football for a while. It's a brutal dangerous sport that nobody in charge is seriously interested in making safer. The leadership of the world's two biggest football entities—the NFL and the NCAA—are some combination of morally deprived and corrupt. Their decisions are almost entirely made based on the dollar. And they're both somehow pass as non-profit organizations (What?!). But the brain injury epidemic is the worst for me, and I have trouble rationalizing watching it.

And then you've got the Rams. A bad team year after year and one that hasn't committed to St. Louis yet. Neither of these things would scare me away from being a fan. If I was going to give up on a team because they lost, I'd have stopped watching the Rams a long time ago.

But with their embarrassing collapse (of which some of which was aided by horrific officiating—another issue) just made me finally ask myself, "what do I get out of this?"

It's the answer to that question combined with the fact that I feel guilty watching football in general that lead me to—for now—giving up football. I don't think I'll be watching the game after the bye week. We'll see how long I can hold out on this.

Deep down I want the Rams to stay. I still love them. But I also want the NFL to stop pretending brain injuries aren't a MAJOR issue. And making a couple of bad rule changes with BS enforcement to act like they care doesn't cut it.

Given the striking difference of team success and status in their respective divisions, it's interesting that we are barely behind Cincinnati in attendance figures so far this year. Obviously our number of road fans is probably much higher, however the numbers are what they are. It seems like Cincinnati is our closest peer in the NFL in terms of market size, downtown stadium, popular local baseball team down the street, etc. One must only look down the river from Paul Brown stadium to see what happens with fan attendance even in a traditional "baseball town" like Cincinnati when your team sucks. I hope the powers that be can appreciate that our NFL pattern is proportional to the team's downturn.

2010- 40,755 per game or 3,301,218 total, 87%

There's a ton of sports entertainment money being dropped at Busch Stadium. Makes it real hard for the Rams and Blues.

I know someone will yell at me "THAT'S JUST AN EXCUSE". But look at Kansas City: yes the Chiefs fans jam Arrowhead. But the Royals only draw 2 million fans a year and the Sprint Center is still sitting without an NBA or NHL team.

I would venture a guess of about $300,000,000-400,000,000 spent at Busch this season....tickets+beer+food+team store ect.

for some perspective- IKEA expects $100,000,000 a year in sells here.
Average walmart store - $95,226,898

At Scottrade (just for blues games) I would venture a guess of about $60,000,000-68,000,000

at the Dome (just for the Rams games) I would venture a guess of about $75,000,000-100,000,000

so in total about $450-500 million spent a year by fans at the 3 Major Sports venues in St.Louis.

Angels end stadium negotiations with Anaheim; Tustin on deck?
http://www.latimes.com/sports/sportsnow ... story.html

This is the interesting part from the article.
Although team officials have maintained the Angels’ preference is to remain in Orange County, Moreno declined to say whether he might be interested in the downtown Los Angeles site proposed for Farmers Field. The AEG option with the city of Los Angeles for that land expires next month.

Go to the Podcast down the page for the 3 PM hour, around the 29 min. mark. Randy K. says that "multiple people in the know" that he has talked to, tell him that the decision has already been made and the Rams are moving. I am not sure who these people in the know are, but I'd love to know how reliable they are. I wonder if they are the same people saying that the Rams were looking at land in North County a few weeks ago, even though that seems stupid, especially the Mills area. If that was the case, we'd be talking about the St. Charles or Hazelwood Rams. Guess that is better than the LA Rams. Anyhow, Randy has never come out and said anything like this in the past. Neither has Bernie. I'd like to know more. . . . :x

I think Randy is just trying to stir up the pot a bit.... he also said there is no way Stan will want to be the 2nd team in LA and rent a stadium from someone like AEG who just asked got a 6 month extension of their stadium proposal because they are trying to get the Raiders bought.

^ If Stan moves, he is building in Inglewood, if I had to bet. He is not going to Farmers Field. That is why I am all for seeing Farmers Field happen, assuming an LA venue is inevitable. I think Stan wants his own stadium, his own revenue streams, parking and surrounding amenities. If he moves to LA and builds in Inglewood, he will definitely go after the rest of the Hollywood Park land and build an empire there. For those of you doubting that he'd build in the rough part of LA, I'd point out that north of the Dome is a rough part of town. Why is that any more feasible than Inglewood?? I think Randy has been as skeptical as anyone, that the Rams are moving. For him to mention that 'people in the know' think it is a done deal, is kind of scary. He would not put that out there, if he didn't believe those people were reliable. That worries me!

I dont think there are people in the know, the way Stan operates the only people in the know are Stan, his #2 and maybe #3 guy and his lawyer...and i doubt any of those 3 would leak anything....

now could Stan and his 3 be bluffing a bit to get something here going? Does Stan see AEG beating him to LA and he isnt really interested in spending $1b of his own money for a relocation fee + $1.5B for new stadium there, when here he can the land for free and probably 40-50% paid by public and save $1b relocation fee.

What % of overall revenue is specific to the team's location? I'm under the impression that a majority of the NFL's $$ comes from TV viewership, which is not independent to each team, as it is in the MLB. Is it just the overall value of the team for resale that increases when moved to a market such as LA?
