^Just saw that in your Twitter thread. That's darned interesting. I don't know Frontier that well, but their network struck me as a lot more hub and spoke than your typical low cost carrier; kind of a hybrid hub and spoke LCC for national service with some point to point for the purely leisure market. Maybe I'm really not reading that right. But Chicago isn't really what I'd call a leisure flight out of St. Louis. If you're wanting a low cost Chicago experience you just drive. It's not that far. (Heck, my brother's been known to drive to Chicago just for the cheap flights. Crazy fool that he is.) If you're flying I'd have guessed you were probably either going for business or to make a connection to get to someplace further afield. (Friends do the former and I've done the latter plenty. But whenever Chicago was my final destination I've always just driven. After all, it's so close . . . Okay, maybe I'm weird.) Still, this feels odd to me. What does everyone else make of it?
It isn’t an add I would have guessed but they have a fair amount of destinations out of ORD. Frontier is opening a base in Tampa so that is what I thought we would have been more likely to see. That all said Frontier is notorious for adding new routes and cutting them a year later before people even know the new routes exist. So enjoy it while you can. I would guess Southwest and maybe Spirit add it soon and Frontier gives up on it.

I do fly to Chicago sometimes if I know I’m going places I can take the train or Uber easily. Just saving on parking up there is worth something. I think a lot depends on if you are going to the city or the burbs and how much you need a car up there. Frontier prices would probably entice people to take it over the train. It would be good to go up for a Cards/Cubs weekend.

I think the self connect option mentioned by some would really come into play if international was back open. I know some people drive up there to fly but if you can get a cheap flight to ORD then why not do that and not pay parking.

I fly through Chicago so much that I’m starting to run into people I know at the airport there, so the more options and times the better.   I was just there today coming back from Tucson (odd route to get back to STL since Dallas is much more convenient but someone else booked the flights and didn’t realize it was Chicago on the way back)

^Please don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking an extra flight. I know we have a LOT of traffic to Chicago, and anything that brings the prices down is great. (And yeah, I know CTA serves both airports. Joyriding on CTA is part of my entertainment when I'm up there.) I'm just surprised at the service from Frontier, since I'd guess most of their customers are the sort that got to Chicago . . . eh . . . once a decade. And want the cheapest possible hotels. (Stay in the suburbs, park and ride into town.) I'm making some assumptions about your average budget leisure traveler which may be false or outdated or both. And I'm perfectly happy to see this. Just surprised.

And like I said, I fly to Chicago all the time. Just . . . not when I'm staying there. Of course, those Illinois cornfields aren't getting any more interesting. Or any smaller. So maybe this needs to change. (Would REALLY love some proper HS rail on that route.)

^ Its a bummer that Greyhound cut much of their STL-CHI service, now they make a stop in Champaign or worse transferring in Indianapolis and then onto Chicago. Megabus service has been gone for a while. I see Frontier adding ORD as additional supplemental service to Chicago. I just liked the convenience of being dropped off in downtown at Union Station without having to take the L from ORD to downtown. Don't get me started on Amtrak, had a horrible experience with them, it took way longer to get to Chicago, ended up I could've drove there faster and not be so stressed about it.

^Amtrak to Chicago really depends on what train you take. The Texas Eagle is regularly absurdly late, so it's apparently best avoided. And you are correct that it's slower than driving, but usually only by an hour or so. Depends on your priorities. As I said . . . I typically drive when Chicago is my destination. But the train was fun last I took it. And I certainly don't mind the flight a bit, my hope for improved rail competition aside.

AA adding 2x daily service to Boston on A319 on Nov 2. Great to see more legacy adds here and AA add more. Up to 11 destinations.

I was pretty much in the same boat as you.

Once AA started this partnership with JetBlue I figured either AA or JetBlue would add it before long though. Personally I’m happy it’s on AA instead of JetBlue.

Delta just keeps sitting around doing nothing anywhere really while the others keep adding. Not sure what they are thinking.

I had a slight preference for JetBlue as they codeshare with another airline that I sometimes use to fly back home, but won't complain about this. Do we know the schedules yet?

The airline will operate two flights daily from STL to BOS using Airbus 319s. The first flight out of STL will be at 7:30 a.m. A second flight to BOS is scheduled to depart at 3:00 p.m. Flights arriving from BOS are scheduled at 2:05 and 9:35 p.m. This schedule will make it possible for daily business travel to Beantown. A person can arrive at BOS just after 11:00 a.m. and will be able to depart as late as 7:30 p.m. that same day.

So looks like
Departures from here are are 730 and 300
Departures from Boston are noon-ish and 735.

I would like to see a JFK flight added too. It would be nice to see either AA or Jetblue add a JFK flight. MCI is getting two Jetblue fights to BOS and JFK.

I tell you what, if Jet Blue truly has a decent TransAt product that's comparable to but cheaper than Delta's Premium Select I'll jump ship. Delta is presently running better on TransPac than AA, which is sort of my bread and butter. But AA is at least close. And I would like to make more of a habit of going east as well. Delta does nice miles and has decent food and half decent seats in PS. But AA sounds to be at least close in most regards. (Honestly, I expect everyone really needs to keep fairly close if they can afford to. Even the dreaded UA. Everyone except WN, that is, which gets iconoclast points.)

The Delta partner careers oversees trump American and their partners imho. You can usually get Delta’s at the same or cheaper price too.

^I confess, KAL is a nice TransPac option. But JAL is fine. (And I do like Narita.) I can't really compare Virgin and BA as I've never ridden either one.

Auto correct actively switches properly spelled words into typos.

It was actually the inclusion of the word "trump" that threw me. I wasn't sure if was supposed to include an insult or political statement.

Rhonda was on the radio today and said the business community had been clamoring for AA to Boston since it left. So they are happy to have 2 mainline flights a day to Boston for them. She is of the understanding that the new JetBlue cities (KC/Milwaukee/etc) will only have one flight a day. That doesn’t get you there and back the same day. So I think in the end we got the better deal. Especially if JFK is added later.
