Would consider this a perfect time to double down a build new single linear concourse for Terminal 1 w one central security & customs/immigration access (w hotel tower on top if possible) where concourse B is, once you go through security and concourse you make a right for Southwest, left for Legacy and joint shared international gates straight ahead.   Concourse D and Terminal 2 turned over for on site parking, consolidated rental car facility and new metrolink airport station which should go under ground for future westward metrolink expansion.   Their is plenty of space to expand the linear concourse west or east for foreseeable future gate needs.

My vision and how it would be funded is in part the city giving up part ownership/control of the airport to county in exchange for new concourse funding agreement and putting new metrolink station on top of Bi State priority list on MO side..

Interesting discussion on the impact of business travelers and what they require. I believe it is highly unlikely that “business” travel will be anything like it was pre-COVID. Companies are not going to support the same travel OPEX profile they did previously as they have learned that virtual meetings can yield similar results faster, cheaper, and safer than sitting in the same room together. I think Southwest is in a great position, the traditional “business” focused airlines may have a tougher time. We are all guessing as to what the travel world will look like post pandemic, but I know that I won’t be traveling for business at anything like the pace I was pre-covid.

I'm sitting on an a220-100 from SLC, definitely was surprised to see that on my boarding pass. Pretty cool to see a 3 and 2 seating configuration that's not on a mad dog. (Md80).

How was the ride? Did you check out the window in the bathroom? Haha

I was in row 12 (about 8 back with the way they seat) and it was very comfy ride, even sitting adjacent to the engines.  Good cabin lighting and leg room in comfort+.  I used the front bathroom but don't recall any windows!

Good to hear! I hope to get on one soon.

I think it’s only the back bathroom.

Press conference at 11 today at Lambert. No clue on details. They are being pretty tight lipped.

That's great news for Lambert. That's more destinations than Sun Country or Alaska and as many as Frontier and Delta right off the bat.

Having a low cost on LAX is a big get in my opinion. Will help drive down fares. We need more of those on non Florida routes.

Also.

Lambert/Midamerica will have 31 flights a week over summer to the Panhandle.  And that’s if no more are added.

Spirit  Pensacola 7
Southwest Panama City 9
Southwest Pensacola 2
Allegiant Destin 13
Total 31 (9 on Saturday)

^Given the recent announcement about the JetBlue/American codeshare agreement I'm a little surprised we picked up Spirit first. What do you think this does to our chances at getting more destinations from legacy carriers or our shot at TransAt?

I just hope that AA brings back the direct LAX flights. KC also had AA non-stop to LAX, but no longer has that since they have Delta, Spirit and Southwest all to LAX. I would never fly Spirit, but its nice to have some competition on some routes and maybe will bring down airfare pricing. Now I am waiting for JetBlue to bring an STL-JFK flight.

Think the return of AA to LAX (and maybe STL to JFK) directly correlates to the return of big corporate business travel. Hopefully before the end of summer.

^ agree. LA on AA will be back. I’m not that concerned. If need be they can run it on an E175 to start.

AA dropped New York and LA at the same time from KC a few years ago (non covid related). Although they are bringing back LGA to try it again.

AA to LAX looks to be back on the updated May  schedule. We which means all AA destinations will be back at that point.

Yes. It will be at either C29 or C30 (I would guess 30 to start since it has a jetway already). Those have been remodeled but aren't open to the public yet. Although in theory they could take Sun Country's gate (because they don't rent it), but that doesn't really save them much of a walk.

With 5 daily flights is it possible Spirit will need two gates?

Just thinking of Frontier who has both C19 and C23 for just three domestic destinations (Denver, Vegas, Orlando) and uses Terminal 2 for their international flights (Cancun Punta Cana).

Looking on Google Earth Historical Images, looks like both C29 and C30 have jet bridges now.

All on Frontiers departures are from C. Only the arrivals from international go to T2.

Spirit is just taking one gate to start, according to the airport. I would think if they add anything more they would add another gate. If these first flights go well they said they plan to add more. If they happen to get in a bind (delays mean 2 show up at a time), there are other options. Sun County’s gate is a per use gate. They could just pay a per use fee to use it or C29/30 (whichever they don't take). Delta does it on A7 sometimes. AA used to on C28 and United used to on A15/17 before Air Canada took A17.
