I am sure the MAX grounding doesn't help but by looking at all the cuts it seems to be a pullback from longer/transcon flying from cali and re focusing on flights in Seattle and Portland. SAN is down at least 6 routes. SFO has a handful cut or at least moved to seasonal.Trololzilla wrote: Sad to see. Just more effects from the MAX grounding and/or VX merger or was SAN not performing as well as they'd hoped anyway?
Passenger traffic increased 2.3% in July with air cargo increasing 4.8%.
I'm sure jshank will have some more in depth data, but I just saw this on Facebook.

I think its around 48 months or so and last decrease was due to weather.
Curious on the growth how it broke down between local demand to and from STL and connections. Mainly if it is continuing the recent trend of local traffic increasing with connections decreasing which is almost certainly the MAX grounding preventing more new flights and causing local travelers to crowd out the connecting travelers.

I would imagine it is all local growth. Like you said that has been the trend and I doubt that will change until the MAXs are back in the air.imperialmog wrote: I think its around 48 months or so and last decrease was due to weather.

Construction work on the new fuel storage facility proper has begun now that the terminal fuel line upgrades are done.
Pictures and more details.

SFO is shutting down a runway for repairs in September and airlines are cutting flights to try to reduce delays.

Got this info from Justin Meyer (KC airport person)
Should give somewhat of an idea what actual passenger growth might be. And keep in mind AUG-NOV would have been high if the MAX was in the air.
STL seat increase by month YOY:
AUG19 +2.2%
SEP19 +4.7%
OCT19 +3.8%
NOV19 +2.5%
DEC19 +9.7%*
*Does not (yet) reflect MAX grounding
KC for comparison.
AUG19 -3.2%
SEP19 -4.1%
OCT19 -5.0%
NOV19 -7.0%
DEC19* - 1.8%
*DEC19 does not (yet) include MAX cuts

Is there a place I can find TWA's flight schedules from/to STL around the 90s?

You can find them on e-bay for reasonable prices if you want a paper copy. (I have a June 1992 edition on my desk at home.)
Departed Flights has 1984 and 2001.
http://www.departedflights.com/timetables2.html
They also have schedules as published in The Official Airline Guide, but that'd likely be a painful way to search.

Looks like HMS Host is proposing a Blues themed restaurant and bar for T2. Very cool.

How did this business model of one entity running all food ops at airports start? I’m guessing it’s for the simple reason so that airports just deal with one entity instead of dozens?sc4mayor wrote: Looks like HMS Host is proposing a Blues themed restaurant and bar for T2. Very cool.

Look, I'm very very happy that the Blues won the Stanley Cup (no - really I am!), but what we don't need at the airport is another sports-themed restaurant serving crappy bar food served with sh***y beer. Other than some okay choices at Vino Volo, is there any place at our airport worth choosing?
Sorry - don't mean to rain on anyone's parade...
Carry on.

I really like Grounded, my coworkers seem to like it as well. I've never been to the Three Kings there. Not a fan of the Budweiser Brewhouse in A. I don't have high hopes for great food at this place though. I'll go out of my way to find a chain at almost any airport, STL included. Thank god for Starbucks' breakfast sandwiches.
I love Three Kings. STL Brewmaster has great beer, too.jeffrk wrote:Ugh.sc4mayor wrote: Looks like HMS Host is proposing a Blues themed restaurant and bar for T2. Very cool.

3 Kings food is great, I just wish their service was better. It has been rough for me. I do appreciate all the local beers available. That all said I think the next couple adds need to be national fast food or fast casual food.
One thing that drives me nuts is getting to an airport with about 20-30 minutes to grab food and have no clue what any of the options are because I haven't heard of any of them. Some local is good especially for sit down but you need some faster options that people know what they are going to get.

I don’t really go to airports for high end culinary experiences. A Blues themed place that’s easy to grab a quick bite and drink before I get on a plane with even shittier choices is fine with me.
Yeah, the sit-down service can be very slow. The grab and go option is usually pretty quick. And you can get your beer to go.jshank83 wrote: 3 Kings food is great, I just wish their service was better. It has been rough for me. I do appreciate all the local beers available. I agree about the fast options. The one national fast food chain we have is the worst possible option - Burger King.
Whatever annoys Chicagoans when they have to fly into STL. That's all that matters to me. Petty. But real. My blood boiled when I passed the Blackhawks theme bar there. Probably crappy food and drink there too, but it's a point of civic pride at this point and reminds people they're coming to a cup champion city!

I don’t really care much for food options at the home airport, this Sunday I’m on my 14th trip of the year out of Lambert and I’ve yet to eat at Lambert. I time my metrolink ride to get terminal 10 min (20 if checking a bag) before boarding. With pre check that’s all the time I need to get to the gate.
Now I care about food options at O’Hare because like clockwork I’m delayed there almost every time

Wow you sure are daring. I have precheck but I would never do that haha.dbInSouthCity wrote: I don’t really care much for food options at the home airport, this Sunday I’m on my 14th trip of the year out of Lambert and I’ve yet to eat at Lambert. While Southwest will allow you to check a bag that close to departure, it's definitely not a smart move as they will not deliver your bag to you if it doesn't make the flight. All other airlines do not allow bags to be checked that close to departure.stl07 wrote:Wow you sure are daring. I assume that the cargo carriers are essentially freight forwarders that are referenced in the Biz Journals article, essentially moving cargo into Lambert on existing flights. Plus side, any added cargo is a win

Lambert is welcoming two new cargo carriers, but low cargo totals still frustrate the airport's director.
