Now that "poised" is out of the Chinese Cargo thread title, perhaps it's time to Spring clean "hub" out of this one?
Lambert St. Louis new website is up and looks fantastic!

Lambert has been on the up and up lately. Despite the cuts from American Airlines, the airport has seen growth in both emplanements (# of passengers boarding) and is regularly adding new flights. The Good Friday Tornado repairs and many of the other interior renovations are now complete, making it look very nice inside. As mentioned above, it just completely redesigned its website as well, which may seem minor, but is really a big deal.
So what's next? Personally, I think the airport needs to focus on renovating the exterior of the airport. New roadways are in the works, but much more needs to be done (sidewalks, appearance of departing flights area, etc). I think improving this aspect of the airport's appearance would do wonders for its image/reputation in the region.

Much agreed.
Lambert and Director Rhonda - have been doing some remarkable changes and pushing through this hard economy, fuel prices, landing prices, renovations, tornado damage, airline merges and cuts, and in addition - continue to update and renovate the terminals and concourses.
So overall - STL is fairing bery well for what it has been through. Instead of losses - they continue to grow and are making some big advances after AA hub reductions.
In addition, the website IS a big deal! It is how people view the airport prior to getting there and a companies/services website is truly the perception which is received in today's media world.
The new site is amazing! Kudos to them!

Consolidated Rental Car Facility. Where? knock down concourse D. How to finance? time for powers to be to ask a certain St. Louis family who own an international car rental company to step to the plate, add parking, and maybe consider combining the two metrolink stations into one new location between the two terminals (Heck put in an autmoted people mover). You could also realign metrolink for a westward extension and in turn finance some of the roadway construction just as Forest Parkway was rebuilt essentially on Metrolink expansionbchao524 wrote: So what's next? ^ Consolidated parking facilities are paid for by bond issues/user fees, not a family's private investment. That said, it's a good idea for STL.
So how much of the original Airport Experience vision is going to see fruition? Do I assume correctly that the proposed canopy over the entrance to the main terminal got the ax?

My last rental in Dallas:
5 days @ $52.00 each = $260
Customer Transportation Charge (shuttle to the rental car center) = $11
Facility Charge $4 / day = $20
Sports Venue tax 5% - $16.33 - some *hole town that happens to have the Rental Car Center inside of it!
That's just part of them. Overall, it's very easy to get outsiders to pay for a rental car area. They've got no say in it, and just deal with the screwing.

Really? Are we both looking at http://www.flystl.com/?
It looks about 20% different than the previous one to me.
bprop... you must be looking at something else.
As Alex posted above - not anything alike!
Comparing other major city airport websites today to STL's new website - hands down Lambert has exceeded my expectations with the new site. Kudos to STL!

If you google "lambert st. louis airport" the first hit is: http://lambert-stlouis.com/ which IS THE OLD PAGE.
The new (and MUCH improved) page is at www.flystl.com.
Someone should call Larry Page up and ask him to change it.

Here's an explanation. Lambert switched to flystl.com four years ago and we kept the original url which automatically relinked to flystl.com. Through the transition to the updated site last week, the relink was still in effect and for a few days, it did relink to the "old" flystl.com It has since been disabled. We appreciate the comments on the new website.
I have to admit that it has been awhile since I flew out of Terminal 1. I usually fly SWA in Terminal 2 because of company. Anyway, on a flight out to Alaska today, I arrived at Terminal 1 at the wee hour of 5:00 a.m. The airport was hopping! But more impressive - WOW Terminal 1 and the concourses look absolutley amazing! It is like a completely NEW airport! Bright light and beautiful. Everything from the baggage areas to the signage was incredible. I had no idea how far they have come on the "improvement experience". There is nothing really old left and I have to say I though I was in another city. I'll tell ya... noone can say that Lambert is out of date or dark and dreary anymore. I am amazed!
I also flew out of Concourse A. I definately would have loved to have seen the new "C". But A looks brand new and the gates are super nice. However, there were three Delta planes and 2 United planes that were waiting for gates on the tarmack. I think that Delta and United should take this concourse for themselves and move the others to "C" or even "D". This is a very crowded concourse. I talked to a lady that had transfered off of "C" to "A" and she said that "C" was more crowded that "A" - so that was interesting. Another thing I thought was interesting was there were 4 Frontier jets in at "C" and "E". However, I realized they do their international flights to Punta Cana, Cancun and Liberia in the early mornings for departure.
Overall... good job to the Airport Director and staff. Looking awesome!!!

^Cool. Good to hear. I usually fly Delta but have been Southwest the last 2 times into StL since the renovations. I am anxious to see the main terminal.

Exciting! I'm flying Frontier to Cancun in August. This will be my first experience at the "new" Terminal 1 and C concourse (at least as of this writing). Can't wait to see it!
Well, unfortunately, your Frontier flight to Cancun will be in the international concourse E in Terminal 2. Frontier operates all international flights from there including Cancun.
^ I wonder if rebuilding Concourse B for international departures/arrivals with new walkways to A & C wouldn't be a good game plan for Lambert. Its a long shot, but one of the legacy carriers and the code share partners might entertain an Asian/European/Latin American flight on these days.
I always thought that tearing down D/current international gates and rebuilding the international gates to match more freely with existing Southwest gates would be a better idea. Even more so after they gobbled up Airtran and they are in a position to move more traffic through St Louis instead of fighting Atlanta congestion. However, changed my mind when Southwest decided that Houston Hobby was the route they are going to go with Airtran's international flights (Southwest to spend $100 million on upgrading Hobby for international gates). Can't blame them, Houston is fourth biggest metro area and its ties to Latin America/the world oil industry.
Still in favor of tearing down D,

Southwest choosing Houston for Intl flights is great for Houston - well... maybe not. United is pissed and they are pulling their hub down in Houston because of it! Woops

Two years ago when Southwest took on the STL-BOS direct route and others that American dropped, Terminal 2 was maybe 1/2 full when I'd pass through. It's absolutely packed these days. Every gate appears to be in use. I know #2 is the new terminal, but I don't like it. I wish they'd open the mothballed terminal for growing Southwest and just put charters/seasonal in 2.
