^isn't Kenny the one in favor of Tour de Missouri while Nixon tried to kill it. This guy (Nixon) is no good for this state. And the comments on STLToday are tiring.

Let's all write and Nixon bombard as well. This is ----- well, words aren't strong enough!

I'm growing very tired and very unimpressed with Nixon. Its time to make some noise. Someone write a letter and I'll print it out sign my name to it and mail it to Nixon. I don't want to lose this opportunity.

This is ridiculous this money should have been budgeted for a long time ago.

This sounds like politics to me. The amount of money in question is too small to make any impact on the state budget, so I expect some back-room deal will magically solve the problem.

I hope.

I haven't been impressed with Nixon either, but I see no evidence the Missouri Republican Party in it's current ultra-conservative, rural based form is going to be any more responsive to urban issues.

These guys swoon when they hear Sarah Palin rip on community organizers.

Appealing to city voters simply isn't on their radar like it was when folks like John Danforth were players.

Like I said, I'm not impressed with Nixon, but it's going to take a bit more convincing before I support a Republican to replace him.

Remember how highly Matt Blunt thought of the city

Everything I hear and read about Hulsof shows me he's a St. Louis-o-phile. But let's be honest, no governor will show STL the attention we deserve until we can get a bigger increase in voter participation in gubernatorial elections from the Metro area...

Agreed about voter participation.

I don't really know much about Hulshof and his attitude towards the STL region, but it's moot anyways. He ran a terrible campaign and that coupled with anti-Blunt sentiment led to him losing by 20 pts. last year. He won't be back around.

In fact, I hate to think this way but I wonder if Hulshof's pro-urban sentiment may have led outstate Republicans to vote against him last year. He managed to lose some pretty rock ribbed GOP counties.

Wouldnt be suprised if McKee puts up some money. Look at what he said about the Northside in relation to China Hub Deal.

Interesting

"What are these jobs?" asked one member of the audience. For the first time, McKee explained that many of the jobs would be related to the proposed China Cargo Hub at Lambert Airport."

This is precisely what I was alluding to a few pages back in a constructive disagreement vs the Count.

When I was at the luncheon the other day, I could not help but think that McKee knows something and that this China deal is going to happen...

Either way i am excited and ready to St. Louis turn the corner into a new economy. :D

Former governor Bob Holden went to Beijing promoting this China hub and St. Louis. I met up with members of his PPF staff and they all think positive about this, even though I bought up that a lot of the presentation of St. Louis to the Chinese were rather weak.

I just hope companies here that have offices in China can chip in some money because the state certainly won't.

Nixon is an idiot....I really hate this guy! He is turning out to be another Conservative Democrat or as I like to call it "Republican-Lite", but in all honesty I think even a fiscally conservative Republican would see the benefits of making this happen. Its $12 million, that's nothing in the grand scheme of things.

I really don't understand how Nixon doesn't see the benefit of this deal. Invest $12 million of taxpayer money and generate billions in revenue for the taxpayers. Seems like a no-brainer to me!

As a native STL-isan who works for a hedge fund here, I'm dismayed greatly by this. Whenever it seems that STL is about to get over the hump, the jaws of defeat snatch victory.

Maybe it is time to consider another city to call home. So sad.

I think the money will surface and this will get resolved. There is way too much opportunity here. Let's just hope the study gets funded and the results indicated there is enough cargo to ship out west. For the sake of the future of Saint Louis and the NorthSide project I hope I'm right. [-o<

I hope you're right. I apologize for the emotional post last night. I'm just tired of all this. The Show-Me State should change it's nickname to the "One Step Forward, Two Steps Back" State.

I think this will get done in spite of Nixon's efforts or lack thereof. Of course, he'll take credit for it once it happens.

If the return on investment is a large as we think it will be, it will get done. It has too. Too much $$ that could be made by making this deal. Either the state will come through or somehow the local business community, federal gov, etc.

With that being said, if it somehow does not and is moved to another city then yes, we must throw in the towel! :D

Either that or secede from Missouri and join Illinois!

That would be humorous except for the fact that it's possible Illinois could simply lure a China cargo hub to Mid-America.

hmmm I would have to agree with DeBaliviere and MidcoastSTL. This project will likely get done in spite of the governor. Too many jobs, Too much money, and the Chinese want to be able to ship their cheap goods right into the heart of the United States.
