The Brewers won for the first time in a while tonight, handing the Cardinals their first loss in a while. Which means the Cardinals are still up 3 in the division.

Baseball is a funny, funny sport.

Suddenly, despite tonight's result, things feel pretty good.

Wouldn't it be weird to face Pujols in the World Series?

Got to give props to KC Royals last night.... maybe that kind of comeback will give them the momentum to get through to an I-70 Series with the Cardinals. Maybe the winner could take home a not-so-coveted "Cordish Cup."

Welcome Cards fans, national media to downtown STL and Busch Stadium, where 20 minutes a go 3 people were shot right in front of the Old Courthouse. Un-fugging-believable.

Good to see Kolten Wong get some glory in the playoffs... last year was pretty rough on the kid.

I still dont like it that he swings for the fences a lot....he can be a legit .300+ hitter with 10HR 70RBI and 30 Stolen bases but if he keeps trying to be a 20-25HR guy he will hit .250-260

I don't think he swings for the fences. His swing is so short and compact that it's a bit deceptive. He's really a line drive hitter who can occasionally jump on a pitch. Plus, his responsibility in that at bat was to hit the ball hard in the air so Molina could tag up at third. If he's going to hit at the bottom of the lineup, let him swing away and try to drive in runs. If he's batting second or leadoff, I think you'd see him take a different approach and focus on getting on base more.

Also, to be fair to Wong, he's a rookie that has been a good hitter through out his amateur and pro career. He's been very honest about his ups and downs this year including going through a phase where he caught himself trying to hit the ball out. He'll keep developing, but I think he'll be a very good 2B for the Cardinals for a while.

I'm going to enjoy being able to breathe for the next couple days.

I like that we have our rotation set up going into the next series. I'm assuming it's going to be San Francisco, but it's not unprecedented for it to be Washington. Either situation kind of scares me. Historically, San Francisco has owned us in the postseason. However, if the Nationals come back from a 2-0 deficit to win the series, well, history also proves that teams that come back from seemingly insurmountable odds are hard to beat. All about momentum.

Speaking of experts, not one of them on MLB Network last night, picked the Cardinals to advance. "SF's pitching will prevail"

Hopefully, the Cards prove them wrong again.

On McKernan's show this morning, he was focused in on the "KC complex". Apparently, KC'ers are rooting for the Cardinals over SF, so they can beat STL in the World Series. One radio guy in KC said it would be the greatest KC sports moment in history, better than 85' to beat the Cardinals. He then spent the entire show ripping STL and the Cardinals fanbase. I'm the first to admit we have a part of the fanbase that is arrogant, but the type of jabs being throw at STL in general were based on much more than baseball. It all goes back to that complex. KC cares too much about STL. Weird!

Here is the KC hate article and attached audio from the KC radio guys. They just sound like they envy the Cardinals and their success. When you win a lot, you are a target.

Regarding the Giants pitching, Bumgratner scares me to death, even though we conquered Kershaw and the lefty curse. The one that scares (circa 2012) is Ryan Vogelsong. That guy killed the Cards. I do not believe Tim L. will be a factor and Cain is hurt. I think we actually have the advantage, assuming Miller and Lackey perform as they did in the NLDS.

need a 2-0 start...even if we lose all 3 at SF( we wont)..having Lynn for GM 6 and Lackey for GM7 at home is something i feel good about

I honestly believe Waino isn't deserving to be the number 1 starter has he has been awful in the playoffs Now if he pitches stellar in the first game & pulls off a win then i'll eat my words ...

I still believe the Giants are the better team though until we can beat them then its the Giants series to lose

Not my favorite way to win (I prefer small ball). But what a roller coaster with clutch HR. Going forward though without Molina makes me queasy.

^ Always special when young guys can step in and get that clutch hit.... Oscar & Kolten killed it last night. Even though things will be tough in San Fran, I'll think we'll get at least one and then its Back to Busch! I think they've got Yadi's back.

A.J. may prove to be a huge pickup. While I think Tony Cruz continues to have a bright future as a backup, he assisted in allowing 2 extra runs last night with poor technique and looks overmatched at the plate. It will be interesting to see if AJ gets start after rocky performance by Cruz and an opportunity for another left handed bat in lineup against Hudson.

Very tough task for the Cardinals if they can at least nab a game in SF maybe they have a chance to win the series however i give SF the edge over STL although its anybody's game. How about those Royals if i were both SF and STL i'd be very scared that's a team on a mission.
