The front entrance was intermittent. It's still usable, though. They open the front door if somebody asks, I think.

They should move into the old Maurizio’s Near Enterprise. That would be the perfect location for a Hockey-centric brewery. The area around enterprise Has few restaurant and bar options. Almost embarrassing how dead the area is outside of Cupples and BPV which are not extremely close.

^Both the Charleville and Maurizio's ideas sound pretty solid if you asked me. :)

this is one of my favorite brewers / tap rooms, some of which has to do with my die-hard hockey fandom.  I've been here often and am sad to see it close, but can corroborate the parking situation being a constant source of frustration.  During the pandemic they were very limited in expanding seating / outdoor options because of the parking lot ownership/hierarchy.  Glad to hear still cranking out beers, regardless of this closure.  I thought the worst when first reading their social post.

I think Charleville location would compete with all the Hamilton Hospitality places including 21st St Brewers Bar.  There has to be a reason that setup failed with a strong brewer.  Perhaps the old "The Note" location?  Maurizio's would work as well.  I think proximity to Enterprise and MLS Stadium is key.

Alternatively, if just a lease and parking issue, I've found another tenant for the retail at the Foundry.

No mention of a tap room but I'd love to enjoy a pint in a warehouse setting with a river view

I’m with you. STLMeetup #2

Per the business journal—

Iron Hops first planned to open as a brick-and-mortar business with capacity to seat and serve visitors, Thompson said, adding that the pandemic shifted those plans.

"With the way Covid hit, restrictions going up and down and sales moving towards packaged liquor for such a long time, we wanted to keep overhead low and just start with the wholesale and packaged liquor side," Thompson said. "But we do plan on quickly moving into a brick and mortar as things start opening up."

There are no river views from produce row, assuming we're talking about the literal produce row, not a neighborhood. There could be a view of cars being crushed at Grossman. There are several other obstacles between Produce Row and the river, most notably the floodwall.

I hope people are willing to visit a brewery there.

I kind of took it that they’d be producing and distributing from there…not so much opening a place to a sit down and drink. The large brick warehouse buildings a block north could be a good candidate if it takes off though.

IIRC, there’s a security guardhouse at produce row. SC4, hopefully they’ll put in on the roof of one of the taller buildings on Broadway.

Yeah I'm not sure what the exact address would be. I guess they're first focus will be production and distribution rather than aesthetics of a potential tasting room. Just thinking aloud that the a microbrewery could really help bring that North Broadway area along.

Slightly off topic: But having moved to Houston I really miss the great breweries STL has, Urban Chestnut is a gem, and Schlafly is great, Rockwell has been killing it, but none of them distribute to Texas/Houston.  Has anyone found a way to order STL beers cross country?

Houston has a pretty decent beer scene with Saint Arnold Brewery and Karbach / Eureka Heights, but it's just not Zwickel :)

Nice addition but they need to do more than a few tables. Does anyone know if all their inside space is used?

Rockwell' to me always seems busier. Not sure if that is also because they have parking.

Rooftop would be a nice touch too.  I have always only preferred to sit on their patio because the inside is so loud from the lack of acoustic treatments.  Then again, I also always preferred the Midtown location.  Don't take my midtown away from me, UCBC.

^Yes, this. I used to meet friends at the Midtown location rather regularly, but the more limited hours have kicked us over to the Grove shop. Which is fine, but I do prefer Midtown. Especially when the weather is halfway nice and you can sit in the beer garden.

Center Ice is closing their midtown location.

Very sad to see Center Ice close it's taproom.  Great place and I've met the Owner Steve Albers and can vouch he is one of the nicest and most genuine people in STL.  Does a ton of charity work with the Blues and an Autism foundation.
The pandemic really hit the taproom hard and I don't think they had the capital to continue to run a place that only filled up on Blues gamedays.
Glad to see they'll still be producing beer, hopefully they reopen a new physical location someday down the road.

I will say that Wellspent seems to be doing better. Every time I drive by they seem to have a good crowd and the side patio looks busier than I remember.

I know I've been to Wellspent more in the past month than I have in a while due to St. Louis City 2 games at SLU.

will look forward to sampling.  Wonder if they will still with North City for tapRoom.  Old North near Crown Candy would be a cool spot but definitely comes with its challenges.

^Yeah doesn't sound like their place near Produce Row is where they want to add a tap room, even though I thought somewhere along North Riverfront could be a destination location for a new microbrewery. St. Louis Ave in Old North would likely be the best spot if they'd like to stay North City. Though a Hyde Park location would have some historical connotations for bringing brewing back to North STL.

Laclede's Landing would also make sense for a tap room.

Would be great if St. Louis is on the next season of this. Would be great to show off 3 or 4 of our breweries.
