Second stretch of St. Charles County’s ‘blueway’ to open this fall
https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/stc ... 3d592.html

I don't see the need for an individual thread for this and the search doesn't appear to be working...but mods you can move this where you deem appropriate.

Anyway, I actually think this is a really neat little project for St. Charles County.

Another random project I saw on social media yesterday....

Carl's Drive-In is planning a Wentzville location near Winghaven that will have go-karts and other rides, attractions.

This location near Winghaven is actually in O’Fallon, not Wentzville. It’s part of the Streets of Caledonia development.

I am hardly ever out that way, so my bad for mixing that up.

It does look like an interesting project.

To be fair, it's nearly impossible to know what is and isn't officially O'Fallon. It includes land along highway 79 up by St. Paul all the way south to bordering Weldon Springs, and then as far west as past the 364/64 interchange.  Looking at its boundaries is like looking at a Rorschach test.

Since I live in O’Fallon, I felt that I could finally contribute to a conversation in an informative way. It’s true. The city boundaries of O’Fallon are confusing. If anyone has any questions about development out this way, I might be able to help sort some things out since I try to follow it as close as possible. There’s a lot of new development going on out here. I’m very familiar with O’Fallon, Lake St. Louis, Wentzville, Dardenne Prairie, Cottleville, and somewhat familiar with the rest of St. Charles County as well as Lincoln and Warren Counties.

St. Charles and St. Peters aren't much better regarding boundaries. O'Fallon is the worst offender though.

Yeah in addition to the Blueway there is this new STC County Park--https://www.sccmo.org/1982/Riverside-Landing
I was out that way on Sunday and while it's fairly small in size it is nice to see St. Charles County have some public land on the Mississippi River. The Missouri River has Frontier Park in downtown St. Charles and the KATY Trail runs close to it's banks but the Mississippi River in the county has mostly been accessible only to those with marina access.

The St. Charles developments that I am most interested in are the Riverpointe/Bangert Island project and investment infusion of Augusta.

I'm still curious to see what the Hoffman plans are for Augusta and the rest of western St. Charles County. Will new wineries be opened? Could this drag some of that westward St. Charles County sprawl southward and bring more people to the Washington, MO area? I've read that Hoffman is now buying up properties in the Washington area, too.

I like that area and can see how it needs investment, but I they could overdo it and kill the charm.

More jobs coming to St. Charles County....
Piston Automotive, which provides module assembly for automotive interior, exterior, electrification, powertrain and chassis, plans to invest more than $10 million to open a facility in Wentzville, creating 204 new jobs.
Piston Automotive, a Redford, Michigan-based subsidiary of the Piston Group, is the world’s largest automotive assembly supplier, with revenue of more than $2 billion and more than 1,000 employees. Officials said the new Wentzville location will increase Piston Automotive’s capacity for producing a variety of components for automotive manufacturers.

Piston Automotive's new facility's location will be at 209 Logistics Center Drive in Wentzville. An exact opening date wasn't provided but the company's website lists the location as "coming in 2022."

It is not necessary to create new threads for articles like this.  Never mind the incredibly long titles.

Put this in the St. Charles Developments thread:

You're right. Can you delete this thread and place it in the St. Charles development thread.

I can't, I'm not a mod.  I'm sure someone will get around to it.  And it's no big deal at all, just please try and search for appropriate threads before creating new ones.  There's enough clutter around here as is ;)

Small, outer-metro projects like this (or the Festus announcement) are usually pretty good for a general thread. If you're not sure which thread, this one is always a good fall back for business expansions:

Not sure the correct thread to post this, but here is an interesting video from 1992 of a guy crossing the Rock Road Bridge for the last time before it was closed. Weird to see Main Street so empty, also I guess it was at one point pedestrianized?

^Thank you for posting this. Yes, Main Street north of First Capitol Drive was pedestrian only starting I guess in the 1970s and it must have just reopened to vehicle traffic not long before this video was made. I know growing up there in the 1980s the business owners on North Main blamed us kids on skateboards and dirt bikes for chasing off potential customers in the pedestrianized zone. As much as I liked the street being closed to traffic as a kid the design of it just didn't fit. Quite simply it resembled an outdoor mall like Northwest Plaza in the day.

The man in the video mentions Roseblums closing. There were a couple of department stores on North Main that were clearly on their last legs in the 80's and would have been had North Main been open to vehicular traffic or not. In this video I think you can see Big A's as the one bar/restaurant on that strip. It would be a few years after this before the street really came into it's own as an entertainment district.

I do miss how the old Rock Road bridge dumped you right on to Second Street. Note the pedestrian walkway too. We had a lot of fun hanging out on that old bridge late at night as kids, though seeing what rough shape it is in this video gives me pause as to our wisdom in doing so
Seeing the county administration building being built and hearing about the Fischbach Hotel really takes me back. My mom was a case worker in the Prosecuting Attorney's office which was located in the Fischbach prior to the construction of the new building.

Housing developer seeks approval for 190 townhouses in $350M St. Charles development
A St. Louis-based homebuilder hopes to build 190 new houses in the $350 million Riverpointe project in St. Charles, which seeks to redevelop the riverfront there.
McBride Berra Land Co., a joint venture between Chesterfield-based McBride Homes and Oakville-based J.H. Berra Construction Co., filed a zoning request with the city of St. Charles to build more than 190 townhouses, a company spokeswoman said. City filings show the development is planned on 36.17 acres of the total 120-acre Riverpointe site.

The larger Riverpointe mixed-use development along the Missouri River in St. Charles is a project of St. Louis-based developer CRG, which is also planning a $500 million mixed-use redevelopment at Wildhorse Village in Chesterfield where houses are already under construction. McBride would not provide details on the joint venture's Riverpointe housing project since it’s not yet approved by the city, but the spokeswoman described the proposed detached townhouses as “luxury.” The design of the Riverpointe townhouses will match some of the company’s popular detached townhouses already opened in other developments, the spokeswoman said. Another 26 townhomes are under construction in The Hill neighborhood in the city of St. Louis, adding to the existing 58-townhome development called La Collina, and at McBride’s new 81-home subdivision, The Villages at Crestwood Crossing, under construction at the former Crestwood Plaza mall site.

Happy to see this project moving in the right direction. There is  a big focus on density and attracting young professionals to the core of the city.

A former bank building on a prominent corner in historic St. Charles will be demolished Wednesday to make way for a new apartment project.
The apartment complex, to be called First Capitol Place, is a project of Denver-based St. Charles Strategic Development.
The apartments are estimated to be complete by 2026, according to the developer’s website.

The Steamboat of Arabia Museum in Kansas City may be relocating to the St. Charles riverfront.

The museum has found a second ship, the Malta, which sank in 1841, that will likely also be part of this development should it come to fruition. As such, it would be renamed the National Steamboat Museum.

It also sounds like plans may include a boutique hotel next to Frontier Park, next to the Lewis & Clark Boathouse and Museum.

St. Charles may also drydock another steamboat for people to be able to board and explore.
