Perhaps we should all try to give them some business soon.
Think I'm going to head over for lunch tomorrow. I'd go today but they're closed Mondays. boo.

I've been to Joe Bush's a few times. The owners are nice- they've been there on each of our visits. The food and service have been consistently good. The burgers and pizza are great- and it's now my favorite default choice whenever I'm in the mood for hot wings- as the quality and portion size are both excellent. So I really, really, hate to hear that the place is struggling and the owners are thinking about hanging it up. I know this stuff happens in an economy like this, but this place became a personal favorite, and it's one of the few places in Southtown Centre that's worth a visit, so I really want it to succeed.

^ We went to Joe Bush's Saturday night after spending most of the day at a St. Patrick's Day festival at our son's school. We thought we'd go there to see the Missouri-Baylor game, and it was good to see that many other people had the same idea that evening.
The food and service were great as always, and as one might expect, corned beef/cabbage dinners are available through Tuesday.

Good! I need to get down there and try their pizza. Not the corned beef & cabbage though - I'm Irish, and I can't even stomach that stuff.

I agree- at least in part. I'll eat corned beef sandwiches, but hold the cabbage, please.
It's been awhile since I had pizza there, so while I can't think of exactly how it compares to other places, it does rank high among my faves.

Happy Joes used to serve a sauerkraut pizza that was pretty good. (for those without culinary training, sauerkraut is made with cabbage)

I must confess that I'm a fan of Happy Joe's taco pizza. And it sure beats taking 314 Jr. to Chuck E. Sleaze.

I was there for the first time about 2 weeks ago and it was still open. Pretty decent Buffalo Chicken Sandwich.

I was there a couple of weeks ago as well- so far, so good. They have some great burgers and sandwiches, and now with the unfortunate demise of Stella Blues, my favorite Buffalo wings in town! So they'd better stick around!

Someone posted a rumor on Bonwich's STLToday forum that Joe Bush's may be closing soon, possibly within a couple of weeks.

I'm the one that put that... A co-worker goes there regularly and is friends with the owners. I had told him about them almost closing earlier in the year and he asked them how business was. They told him they would be closing and maybe as early as in two weeks. The owner said the landlord refused to budge on the rent, which had recently gone up, so the owner apparently is saying "See ya!"DeBaliviere wrote:Someone posted a rumor on Bonwich's STLToday forum that Joe Bush's may be closing soon, possibly within a couple of weeks.

That landlord has got to be amazingly stupid and/or conceited. I know financing requires certain minimum rents but all the stories out of here just astound me.
Good luck finding a tennant in this economy.

They also f-ed up their chance at getting a Buffalo Wild Wings there a few years ago. Nice work.
Bush's is now closed. Too bad...I thought they filled a niche in the Southtown area.

I drove by tonight and noticed they were closed. I saw the rumors on Eat at Joe's and also on Joe Bush's Facebook page. I hoped they were just that, rumors, but in this economy I should've known better. When I went to the Verizon store across the parking lot from Joe Bush's to get a new mobile phone a couple of weeks ago, I noticed that they weren't open for Saturday lunch, so I had my suspicions then. So I'm disappointed but not surprised.
We will miss Joe Bush's. The owners and staff were always friendly, prices were reasonable, and most importantly, the food was great. Their pizza, burgers, and wings were among my favorites in town.
I will also post this in the Retail & Restaurants forum where it will get more exposure. Sad news.
