Hello, everyone. Well...the permitting process is taking longer than expected and we are not going to be able to open next week as we had planned. We are in the process of hiring staff and will begin training staff soon. As soon as we set a new date (expect it to be by the end of the month), I'll post it here. You can also go to www.simplyfonduestlouis.com and sign up for an email list.

I'll update soon!

Dave,

Thanks for the updates. I hope things go smoothly the rest of the way.

One question...what is the plan for the parking situation? Will you have valet parking? And, from what I understand, the entrance being on the St. Charles side, how will and parking issues affect the Locust side of the building?

Thanks again.

Ouch! 10/1/2006 was their first estimate to be open: and now they're talking sometime late April/early May 2007.

Once again: why I'll never open a bar or restaurant.

Dave, think this question has been asked once before but what is the story on parking? Will you all overtake the parking lot between buildings B and C or only have a limited number of spaces in that lot? And will you all do valet, and if so where will you park those cars?

Thanks

We will have a significant number of spaces in the lot between buildings B and C. There are also about 12 (?I think?) meters on the 17th street side of the building (meters are free after 7 and on weekends) and the building on the other side of 17th is vacant for now. The big lot between us and Wash Ave belongs to CPI (the building NW of us) and is restricted during the day, however, I see several people parking there after hours. We are also negotiating with a couple of valet companies. They will handle where the cars go. I believe at least one of the companies we are meeting with is possibly negotiating with CPI for leasing some spaces in that lot for their use. All in all, I think we will have many different options available for parking. Thanks for asking!

By they way, an update on progress. We are getting close. We are waiting on a final electrical and mechanical inspections. Those were supposed to be on Monday, but the inspectors have put it off due to other inspections running long. Once we get our occupancy permit, we'll start training employees. We are hiring employees this week.

I'll keep you posted on progress. Thanks for hanging in there with us! We'll make it worth the wait!

sf-stl: May I humbly suggest that you make it clear to your employees that the free weekend meters are for CUSTOMERS only! It amazes me how many Washington Av. restaurant employees I see clogging-up the meters all day long, thereby inconveniencing (and possibly chasing away) their own customers!

Framer,

I couldn't agree more. I've been in this business a long time and I always park far away from the door and ask the same of my employees. Thanks for the input!

If that was going to happen, the mods would've shut it down during the Office Space tangent which some people "got" better than others.

Dave, just make sure you're open by August 5, as that's my 7th wedding anniversary. (I'm kidding; hopefully you'll get to open much sooner than that.) Whenever you'll open, we're looking forward to giving SF a try ASAP!

Well, we're going to miss Friday, but knock on wood we should be open and 'well practiced' by 8/5!

Actually, one of the original construction delays was due to filming of Escape from New York (it seems like, anyway)!
