Anyone know if the October 1st date is still legit. Haven't been by in a while to see if any work has been done.

Was by here about two weeks ago and there wasn't much going on inside. I don't think 10/1 is going to happen.

You're right. 10/1 isn't going to happen. Architect held up progress. Things should start to happen fairly quickly. We have building permits now and a liquor license hearing scheduled. I guess that's progress!

Walked by today at lunch. If done right it will be a wonderful space with all the large windows on three sides. Lots of work to be done but the slate is clean so things should go quickly.

You guys now shooting to be open for the holidays? Which liquor license you going for: 1am or 3am?

We are hoping to be open 12/1. The final design is coming together. We had our liquor license hearing yesterday. Our license will be a 1:30 license.

Yay, this will be a great addition to the "hood!" I'm really pleased with St. Louis restaurants. There's so much variety and great places to choose from. Think it has anything to do with the French influence in the city?

I'm guessing that 12/1 will not be achieved? Paper is still up over the windows and I haven't seen much work going on during the day.

Unfortunately the date has been moved back to sometime around the first of the year. It really is going to happen, though! There are actually contractors there everyday and the owners (Tim and I) are there as well, as we are doing a lot of the construction ourselves.

Let me know if you have any questions!

BEST OF LUCK. This will be a nice "niche" place.

I would suggest you start advertising in papers now. A restaurant like yours should have a drawing for "special" events, and the most special (Valentine's) is coming up fast.

Hey, everyone. Just wanted to give an update. We are still in the process of opening. Target date is 3rd or 4th week of January. The 26th is tentative (very) and hopefully we'll be open before that. We should be rolling out details of a grand opening in the next couple of weeks. We are also setting up a website where you can buy gift certificates on line. We should have all of the merchant info set up by this weekend. The website is www.simplyfondue-stl.com or you can send me a PM and we'll make arrangements to get you a certificate. Just think how cool your friends and family will think you are if you give them a gift certificate to a place that's not even open yet! '8)'

We are excited about the response we've gotten. We have been involved in two different charity events and have received excellent response at both.

Also, we are wanting to feature local artists' work in the restaurant. If you know of any artists who would be interested in talking with me, please have them contact me.

Please let me know if you have any questions about what we are doing!

Dave, I know of a local artist who tried to contact you using the e-mail address on your site, and it was undeliverable. Do you have another address?

Is Jan 26 still tentative or more concrete?

Unfortunately, it is still pretty tentative. I hope to have an actual 'date' set in at least wet concrete if not stone by Jan 15th.

Just got this from a local wine club:

Simply Fondue. . . .Simply Delicious

North downtown St. Louis is the hottest restaurant area right now and The St. Louis Wine Cats have been given an invitation to attend a "pre -opening" party (only us). Better yet, Darryl Vennard of Premiere Cru Wine Company will be presenting several outstanding wines from around the World that pair well with Fondue. Darryl also is always good for a healthy pour, so this wine tasting is more like a "wine drinking".

When:

Monday, January 29th, 2006 ~ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Cost:

$25 per person which includes the wine tasting and appetizers.

Where:

Simply Fondue Restaurant located at 1629 Locust (2 blocks south of Washington Avenue)

Reservations:

Pop an email the Wine Cats and let us know you plan to attend (so we have plenty of wine). You just pay at the door. Walk-ins are Welcome too. My email is scott@stlwinecats.com.

Did the Wine Event happen?

I drove by today and there is still paper on all of the windows. Just curious how long this place has to go.

I closed on my loft (my building overlooks the Simply Fondue sign) and it still has paper on the windows.

Thanks for checking in on us, bsharmastl. We continue to get closer. Construction should be wrapping up soon, and we should begin training staff by the last week in Feb. There are a lot of exciting things going on at this point. The bar was installed last week, the paint is being competed, the booths have been delivered and the chairs are in.

MidcoastSTL, the wine event sort of happened. Due to insurance reasons, the event was moved to Mosaic (Thanks to Rachel and Claus for stepping up at the last minute!). We were disappointed not to hold it in our space, but we couldn't make it work out.

I will keep everyone posted more frequently, as we should be nailing down a date for opening soon. I'll post it here first!

Nice lighted sign up facing North. Looks cool and sticks out. Don't know if there's anything on the West or southside facade.
