I noticed that the alley renovation between Washington and Locust has begun, will this extend all the way the Printers Lofts? If so, will the fondue place have outside seating?

To my knowledge, the St. Charles (the alley) pedestrian walkway cannot extend to 17th Street, due to the parking lots on either side of St. Charles. These include the lot immediately west of the Walker Lofts, which belongs to CPI, and the one between Printer's B and C. These both open onto St. Charles. However, we do have a 12' sidewalk surrounding our building and our liquor license includes this area. Outdoor seating is part of the plan. It probably won't be ready when we initially open, but we hope to add it soon. We're really focused on getting the inside open!

Took a sneak peak at the progress and must say this place rocks! I'm really looking forward to this one opening and think it will quickly become a downtown favorite.

Great pics and the place looks great. I haven't checked out the website, is the menu on there or has it been made up yet?

How badly do you want the job? You're only a few surgeries away from being a hot chick bartender...

Walked by today and it looks like they're getting closer. The heating elements are in place on the tabletops and the bar is getting some finishing work. The hostess stand is in place.

BTW: like the 3 big HDTVs above the bar. I hope you're going to have them set up to show high defenition programming. Showing crappy standard defenition programming means you wasted your money buying the fancy TVs

Actually, he did post pictures of himself here.

That said, it was just an (apparantly abortive) attempt at humor. You know - anyone could make themselves into a hot chick with enough surgery - lawl rofl and all that?

I would need a LOT of surgery if that's the case.

Well...It's FINALLY here. We officially opened to the public last night. We're flying a little under the radar now to make sure we get everything tweaked and stocked. Stop by when you get a chance!

Very nice. Very nice indeed.

Just ate at Simply Fondue the other night. Gotta say, it was unbelievable.

Picture the Melting Pot, only slightly cheaper and about 100 times better quality. We had an awesome meal. Worth every penny.

OK, call me stupid, but how exactly does one go about eating at a fondue place? Is there a central vat of cheese-stuff in the middle of the table, shared by all? Or does each diner order his favorite flavor and keep it to himself? Do you dunk crusty bread, or veggies, or meat, or what? Are there differant courses (salad, entree, desert, etc.)?

I used to love it when my mom served fondue back in the 70's, but I guess it's evolved a bit since then.

Actually, no need to call you stupid. You have all perfectly legitimate questions. Our most popular 'dining choice' is a four-course dinner designed for 2. The first course is your choice of salad (we have 4 to choose from). The next course is your cheese course (we have 5 to choose from), and yes, there is a central 'vat' of cheese in the center of the table, in which you may dip fresh vegetables, bread (which we source from Companion) and granny smith apples. (Try the Mediterranean cheese...my favorite.) Next comes the main course, where you can choose 6 choices of beef, pork or seafood. There are about 18 selections to choose from. This can be cooked in the traditional oil, a cajun broth, a thai coconut broth, or a Mediterranean sangria broth. This course is also served with cheese ravioli, broccoli cheddar bites, and cheddar stuffed jalapenos. Finally, you get to choose from 14 different types of chocolates and blends.

Check out simplyfonduestlouis.com and take a look at the menu.

Send me a pm if you have any questions!
