The sign on the door of Prime 1000 only says they are closed for the "season." Is this incorrect?

^ Could be.... presby doesn't know everything. Nothing is on their website or facebook, which is kind of weird. Mystery!

I don't see how it would be possible for a steak house to close for a season and remain in business.

^ tis the season to make $$... I do see a facebook post from early Nov. about unforeseen maintenance issues they'd be closed for a few days, but I don't think they ever re-opened and have since announced Closed for the Season. Can't be good, but hopefully they'll re-open.
Maybe the expenses of operating a restaurant during the months of Dec - Feb exceed the revenue of those months?downtown2007 wrote:I don't see how it would be possible for a steak house to close for a season and remain in business.

Prime 1000 was on the States list of business that have not paid state taxes and therefore lost their state license....so legally they cant even be open.
Have or have not paid state taxes?dbInSouthCity wrote:Prime 1000 was on the States list of business that have paid state taxes and therefore lost their state license....so legally they cant even be open.

I'd guess by context, have not. Odd to close down a place if the were paying taxes.stlien wrote:Have or have not paid state taxes?dbInSouthCity wrote:Prime 1000 was on the States list of business that have paid state taxes and therefore lost their state license....so legally they cant even be open.

have not...my mistake
I noticed that, too. I have no idea what's going up on those corners. It's exciting, because that's a particularly dead stretch of downtown. Locust from 9th to Tucker. With the Alverne ramping up and someone else moving into the ground floor on the NW corner of 10th and Locust (can't remember who), that stretch of street could be very different a year from now.jambo wrote:Both 1015 Locust (old Fiat showroom) and 321 North Tenth Street (old book store) have their windows paper covered. Any information on what's happening behind those windows? Any David Bailey moves on these locations?
Inquiring minds want to know!!
They must really be anxious to get the Tim Horton's open. At 10pm on Saturday night there were like 3 guys in there working on framing.

Santa, as a true Canadian, rewards those in cities with Timmy Ho's with a little extra.
A friend of mine from Texas once observed, "St. Louis sure has a lot of pizza and donut establishments".

STL Mag finally covered Prime 1000's closure:
http://www.stlmag.com/dining/prime-1000-has-closed/
Owners may try to relocate but they were kicked out. The space will be back on the market soon.

Any idea what's up with this? Last week, the P-D ran an article saying the pizza place was opening by Friday (of last week). There were people in there Friday, lights were on, and it looked ready to open - but it wasn't. Today, it was locked up tight with no lights on. There was a pizza box top sitting by the front door. On it was a message written in marker - something about "not being open for sure but this week will would to be open." (i.e. it was written by someone for whom English was clearly a second or third language).DowntownNick wrote:Saw people working inside earlier tonight as I was driving by.FirSTLove wrote:Not sure if this has been posted anywhere, but looks like a place called Delfino's Pizza is moving into the former Empire spot at 1131 Washington. I saw that their other local location is inside the West County Mall. There were men working inside on Saturday night which seems to indicate they are trying to open quickly.
Not an auspicious start, but looking forward to pizza by the slice again.
Went by today and it was open.bprop wrote:

Good news: it's pizza by the slice. Most are in the $4-range, depending on the number of toppings.
Thus far - and granted it's only the first week - they seem to have inherited business practices from Empire. Lots of trouble opening the drawer, figuring out how the credit card machine works, and so on. Used gloved hands to handle transaction and then handled pizza. They just need to polish it up a bit.
I got a relatively simple sausage/pepperoni. Crust had a little chew but it was rather fluffy for my taste; I was hoping for the brick oven style but it was more like Schnucks's mini pizzas, and quite oily. I'll try different toppings next time. They also have calzones and supposedly salads although I didn't order one.

^^If this pizza place were in the county you would have ripped the place to shreds, laughed at it, pissed on it...but downtown biz that obviously sucks get a pass....smh

^ I thought there already was a County location?
I would have? Why do you say that? I rarely talk about places in the County.sirshankalot wrote:^^If this pizza place were in the county you would have ripped the place to shreds, laughed at it, pissed on it...but downtown biz that obviously sucks get a pass....smh

Hard to imagine gooey Provel by the slice. Sounds tasty tho!

Hey buddy, they have a location in the County already. But yeah, I will give them a bad review just because they have a location in the County.sirshankalot wrote:^^If this pizza place were in the county you would have ripped the place to shreds, laughed at it, pissed on it...but downtown biz that obviously sucks get a pass....smh
