I think Twisted Ranch moving into the old Bar Louie spot in CWE was mentioned in another thread but it is now confirmed that The Woodshack will be moving from 10th St to the spot being vacated by TR on 7th and Soulard.

I swear Woodshack was supposed to move into 1836-1838 S 10th Street. What’s going on with that building? Looks like it was sold 4/2022.
I love Woodshacks current cozy vibes and flare. I hope something equally cool replaces it.

^Me too, thought they were taking over The Shanty at one point.

Yes that was their plan for awhile. The owners who purchased it in April are putting in residential--two units I think. Yeah I'm going to miss Woodshack at that location but I completely understand their need to move as the business grows.dbehrens011 wrote: ↑Dec 05, 2022I swear Woodshack was supposed to move into 1836-1838 S 10th Street. Shack has been my go to sandwich shop as of late. Good Mac and cheese too that you can add fried shrimp
Correct on both counts.Baltimore Jack wrote: ↑Dec 05, 2022I think Twisted Ranch moving into the old Bar Louie spot in CWE was mentioned in another thread but it is now confirmed that The Woodshack will be moving from 10th St to the spot being vacated by TR on 7th and Soulard.

LHM's Union Station Sports bar coming in Feb, will Occupy Senor Julio's space. Names, The Pitch:
Construction on The Pitch Athletic Club & Tavern, the latest venture by St. Louis-based hotel and hospitality firm Lodging Hospitality Management, is well underway.
The sports and soccer bar, located in the former Senior Julio's space in Union Station at 1820 Market St., kitty-corner across from CityPark Stadium. They're going to be pushing it to make that February date. This is what it looked like last night.TheWayoftheArch_V2.0 wrote: ↑Dec 08, 2022LHM's Union Station Sports bar coming in Feb, will Occupy Senor Julio's space. Names, The Pitch:

I feel for them as I know skilled construction labor is short and materials a big challenge.

i think there is plenty of labor now...since new housing has slowed down. Worker i talked to yesterday at the site said they are supposed to finish by end of the year but he wasn't sure how that is possible.
La Finca Coffee Roasters is now open on Manchester in The Grove across from UCBC. Probably a soft opening because they don't have all their products available yet and the main room looks like a work in progress.

The For Lease sign at the old Maurice spot downtown was taken down. Anyone know if something is planned there?

I walked by Fariña's this past weekend and it looks like they finally got their liquor license. Not sure why it took so long, but hopefully their business picks up.

^ they applied in May and finally got it. it really took sail out of them, in the first week alone they lost about 30 tables due to no booze, owner said it would have been about $5000 in sales.

The acclaimed Webster Groves restaurant Balkan Treat Box has announced a new venture, the cafe Telva at the Ridge and the event space the Ridge Room. Telva at the Ridge and the Ridge Room will be located at Rolling Ridge Nursery at 60 North Gore Avenue, also in Webster Groves.
Telva at the Ridge, described in the announcement as a “grab-and-go cafe,” will feature Bosnian-style coffee, which is roasted in a wood fire and brewed individually in a copper pot called a džezva. The menu will feature “Balkan-inspired” open-faced sandwiches, pastries and other cafe fare.
“We’ve always talked about opening a cafe that serves coffee in the style that you would find in the Balkan region from Bosnian, Turkey and Greece,” Balkan Treat Box chef and co-owner Loryn Nalic said in a statement. “We live in Webster Groves, and when we heard the Rolling Ridge team was looking to open a cafe space, we felt that our team was ready to take on the project.”
The Ridge Room will offer space for up to 60 guests for events. Both Telva at the Ridge and the Ridge Room are slated to open in winter 2023.
Balkan Treat Box has also announced an expansion of its ownership. Joining Nalic and her husband, Edo, are Edo’s brother, Emir Nalic, and Emir’s wife, Erna.
Loryn and Edo Nalic launched Balkan Treat Box as a food truck in late 2016. They debuted the brick-and-mortar restaurant in 2019 at 8103 Big Bend Boulevard.

I'd love to see them open a location in the city that isn't attached to the new soccer stadium.
I feel like they would dominate with a location on South Grand or in Midtown near City Foundry.

A new breakfast, lunch, dinner serving tradition American fare will open at 220 S Tucker (first floor of city garage at Clark and Tucker).
I’m friends with them and I did take them to tour a few downtown west locations before they opened Balkan in Webster, but all were either too big or their brick oven wouldn’t workRockChalkSTL wrote: ↑Dec 20, 2022I'd love to see them open a location in the city that isn't attached to the new soccer stadium.

Looks like Union Loafers is moving right down the street to 1532 Tower Grove this spring? That will be a nice renovation hopefully!
They are also opening Union Bagel at 8705 Big Bend in Webster.

I believe it’s just their bakery moving. …Restaurant will stay in the same spot.dbehrens011 wrote:

Guessing they're big enough to where having both in the old spot is holding them back.walker wrote:I believe it’s just their bakery moving. …Restaurant will stay in the same spot.dbehrens011 wrote:

Seriously can't overstate how excited I am to see this building renovated. I drive past it on Tower Grove every day and it sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the surrounding blocks and makes Botanical Heights feel less connected to FPSE.

Anyone have intel on what's going on with Pi Pizza? They've closed all their local restaurants except for the Central West End location. Along with 2 locations in DC and Iraq (?).

^ during Covid Chris Sommers founded a tech start up and went on to sell it to a firm in Nashville, he commutes back and forth and is pretty much out of the restaurant biz-
Pasta House will take over Pi-Rico space in Kirkwood.
