It seems safe to share this bit of news now.

Yapi Mediterranean Subs has closed their 6413 Hampton location in St. Louis Hills and will be relocating to the former Yiro/Gyro spot at 17 S Vandeventer in the Central West End.

La Catrina, a Tex-Mex restaurant on Hampton, will be opening a La Catrina II near the intersection of Morgan Ford and Loughborough.

Not surprising, they seem to have cracked the code for having a wildly successful Mexican restaurant. Double decker patio and marg towers!

Keep meaning to hit La Catrina up. Looks popping, and the deck is fantastic.

This is not normally a big deal, but the Crestwood McDonald's is opening today after the remodeling project was completed. The cool back story involves a photo taken in the parking lot in 1978. David Lee Roth & Eddie Van Halen left KSHE's Crestwood studio after an interview looking for a bite to eat. They stumbled upon the Crestwood McDonald's where the iconic photo was taken. The guy who took the photo will be there today for the grand reopening. The photo will be on the wall permanently. That story definitely makes this McDonald's cooler than most!

Speaking of the deck at La Catrina, SoHa is adding a similar second story deck to their patio area. So is Handlebar now that I think of it

The Shaved Duck apparently left the Kirkwood Schnucks; Salt + Smoke BBQ will be opening a new concept in it's place -- Oh Hey! Barbecue.

That will be great at Handlebar, perfect building/establishment for this.  I really like the rooftop deck experience at Sasha's in Demun as well.

Went to check out the deck a little while ago when they posted it on their instagram. Not very impressive.

^^ The old McDonald’s building that was sitting there is equally cool. it would be awesome if all St. Louis McDonald’s restaurants had the old ONE arch sign like that one.

It would also be cool to hear that interview from 1978 with Van Halen and Roth. I wonder if that is available on the “KSHE tapes“ section of the website.

That is disappointing.

Speaking of good bar decks, anyone been to Attic Music Bar?  Was thinking about trying it out before the weather turned.

Ice cream maker expands to North City: 'We want to see change happen'
A Keefe company, SoHa Partners LLC, in March bought the production facility of Dogtown Pizza, at 8014 N. Broadway in Baden, for $1.05 million, records show. Dogtown in July moved to JeffVanderLou.
Keefe financed the purchase with debt provided by the U.S. Small Business Administration and Busey Bank, she said, adding it was the first time Clementine's has taken on debt.
And while Keefe declined to provide investment costs in the facility, she said millions of dollars will be invested into north St. Louis, with 20 to 30 jobs added at the facility, plus more at the new stores.
“I was very intentional about choosing North City,” Keefe said. “As a CEO and business owner, if we want to see change happen in this city, then it’s our obligation to put our money where our mouth is. We’re choosing to expand our business in that part of the city for the good of the city.”

As if I need more of a reason to love Clementine's.
