In less good news El Sitio in the CWE has a for sale or lease sign over the front of it. Bummer as I was excited about the concept

Anyone have any insider knowledge about union loafers in Webster? The renovation has taken over two years and was inactive forever. Recently, I noticed work has restarted and looks pretty well wrapped up! Fingers crossed only a few more weeks!

Has anyone eaten at Kitchen Clayton yet? I've gotten food from there twice: Once from Taco Circus and Once from El Primo.
Delicious both times.
But I can't imagine this place lasting more than a year:
- The prices at El Primo and Bodega are obscene; $15 for a burrito and $17 for a sandwich??? You can get a cheaper sandwich than you get at Bodega from The Crossing or Herbies or Oceano and you don't have to eat it cold with plasticware after you walk back to your office/home.
- The burrito I got from El Primo was great, but it is way, way, way too big. I cannot imagine a non-obese person eating it in one sitting (or someone that is intentionally aiming for a food coma in the afternoon). I would MUCH rather have the option to have a burrito that is half the size for half the price. Also, the packing is probably accounting for $2 of each burrito. It is really cool looking (think Apple style packaging), but totally unnecessary for a burrito and wildly un-environmentally friendly. I felt awful throwing it away. Such a waste.
- But even if you don't mind throwing your money away, the pick up area REEKS of cigar smoke from the smoke shop next door. In this day and age, who wants to pick up FOOD in a place that smells like an ashtray?
It's a shame because it's a good concept and the food was uniformly delicious (and I have zero similar criticisms on Taco Circus).
Curious as to others' thoughts.

I think Twisted Ranch moving into the old Bar Louie spot in CWE was mentioned in another thread but it is now confirmed that The Woodshack will be moving from 10th St to the spot being vacated by TR on 7th and Soulard.

I swear Woodshack was supposed to move into 1836-1838 S 10th Street. What’s going on with that building? Looks like it was sold 4/2022.
I love Woodshacks current cozy vibes and flare. I hope something equally cool replaces it.

^Me too, thought they were taking over The Shanty at one point.

Yes that was their plan for awhile. The owners who purchased it in April are putting in residential--two units I think. Yeah I'm going to miss Woodshack at that location but I completely understand their need to move as the business grows.dbehrens011 wrote: ↑Dec 05, 2022I swear Woodshack was supposed to move into 1836-1838 S 10th Street. Shack has been my go to sandwich shop as of late. Good Mac and cheese too that you can add fried shrimp
Correct on both counts.Baltimore Jack wrote: ↑Dec 05, 2022I think Twisted Ranch moving into the old Bar Louie spot in CWE was mentioned in another thread but it is now confirmed that The Woodshack will be moving from 10th St to the spot being vacated by TR on 7th and Soulard.

LHM's Union Station Sports bar coming in Feb, will Occupy Senor Julio's space. Names, The Pitch:
Construction on The Pitch Athletic Club & Tavern, the latest venture by St. Louis-based hotel and hospitality firm Lodging Hospitality Management, is well underway.
The sports and soccer bar, located in the former Senior Julio's space in Union Station at 1820 Market St., kitty-corner across from CityPark Stadium. It's set to kick off operations in mid-February, well before Major League Soccer expansion team St. Louis City SC's first match, according to Blaise Pastoret, director of restaurants at LHM.

They're going to be pushing it to make that February date. This is what it looked like last night.TheWayoftheArch_V2.0 wrote: ↑Dec 08, 2022LHM's Union Station Sports bar coming in Feb, will Occupy Senor Julio's space. Names, The Pitch:

I feel for them as I know skilled construction labor is short and materials a big challenge.
- 9,566
i think there is plenty of labor now...since new housing has slowed down. Worker i talked to yesterday at the site said they are supposed to finish by end of the year but he wasn't sure how that is possible.
La Finca Coffee Roasters is now open on Manchester in The Grove across from UCBC. Probably a soft opening because they don't have all their products available yet and the main room looks like a work in progress.

The For Lease sign at the old Maurice spot downtown was taken down. Anyone know if something is planned there?

I walked by Fariña's this past weekend and it looks like they finally got their liquor license. Not sure why it took so long, but hopefully their business picks up.

^ they applied in May and finally got it. it really took sail out of them, in the first week alone they lost about 30 tables due to no booze, owner said it would have been about $5000 in sales.
