Or tonight, longer statement by gateway foundation in updated STL mag story
“Gateway Foundation was surprised and disappointed to learn of comments made by Burger 809 that mischaracterize the circumstances surrounding its impending departure from the Terrace View. Our original statement was intentionally brief and supportive out of respect for Tasha and her business. To be clear: this decision was neither sudden nor unrelated to business operations.
In 2026, the Foundation will move forward with a new concept to be managed internally. Importantly, this decision was driven not by a desire to replace Burger 809 with a new concept. Over the course of many months, Burger 809 was asked repeatedly to address contractual issues, including maintaining required operating hours, providing timely and accurate financial reporting, and meeting other contractual obligations. These issues were not addressed.
Since Burger 809 moved into Terrace View, the Foundation held multiple meetings, corresponded with Tasha regularly in person, by phone and email, and repeatedly offered marketing and operational support which Tasha declined. The operating agreement was concluded multiple months ago and only after these repeated efforts to resolve issues. Upon termination of the agreement, the Foundation permitted Burger 809 to remain in the space through December 2025 to allow Burger 809 a reasonable transition timeline.
Gateway Foundation believes the Terrace View space holds tremendous potential as a public amenity, offering it to various operators since its inception at a rate well below market value, providing 24-hour security, attentive property management, and other amenities. It is one of the most beautiful, well-maintained spaces Downtown. The Foundation is confident in this decision and made it with the long-term interest of Citygarden and the Downtown and St. Louis communities at heart.
Our original statement remains true: Gateway Foundation values its role as steward of Citygarden, ensuring this public space remains a welcoming and well-managed destination for the community. We were proud to host Burger 809 at Terrace View and grateful for the contribution it made to the park and Downtown. We wish Tasha and her team continued success as they begin their next chapter in St. Louis.“

That makes more sense, I tried going there multiple times only for them to be closed.

I would say Catalyst coffee/art gallery but they just moved

Moved and then folded.
Their old space in park pacific is now a cafeteria for fast growing charter school in the building

Going to school in Park Pacific would be so freaking cool.dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Sep 03, 2025Moved and then folded.

Mom's Deli looks like it's imminently ready to open. Signage is up, looks like shelves have been stocked, etc.

Didnt even realize they closed. I used to go to their Park Pacific location frequently. Went to their Locust location early on. I actually liked the new space better but just wasn’t nearby as often.dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Sep 03, 2025Moved and then folded.

No idea why they left park pacific, they didn’t even have to pay rent there for 10 years it was there.

I loved going there for Todd and their $2.50 americanos. In retrospect they probably should have raised their prices.

I saw Kennedy Painting working on the former Tim Hortons in Lafayette Square yesterday. Anything afoot?
Interesting there are not any St. Louis (or even all of Missouri) on the Starbucks closure list.

Yeah, the BPV one isn't coming back.
Very telling about the return-to-office isn't happening and the state of the Chicago Loop from this list.

Expo lost their Starbucks for some reason as well. And now no retail in that whole block besides you guessed it, Ocean Grill of course.

That area is just a mystery. Lot of student population and young professionals to target for. Coffee shop and/or quick bite place is a no-brainer.delmar2debaliviere2downtown wrote: ↑Sep 27, 2025Expo lost their Starbucks for some reason as well. Are you saying Ocean Grill is moving there - I thought they moved to Olive blvd?

There’s always been the Ocean Grill next to the metrolink stop. It borders on a nuisance business for the neighborhood at times because they don’t pick up any of their constant to-go trash, have a drab storefront that makes the area look run down and let people park right outside their door to hang out and pick up food. The city took care of the cars on the sidewalk issue with some planters for the most part (people sometimes still find ways to drive on that sidewalk for some reason). Then Park Place Market went in next door and actually built out a little landscaping and kept the sidewalks clean and a welcoming storefront with events that brought some new foot traffic but the tornado took them out. So back to square one.stlurbanist wrote: ↑Sep 27, 2025That area is just a mystery. Lot of student population and young professionals to target for. So there’s like one take out restaurant, Mack’s bar and grill, a new coffee shop next to Mack’s, the ice cream place in that same building…and that’s really it within easy walking distance of the metro. It’s just crazy
I think the area won’t really improve until (1) more multi family is built further up Debaliviere (still a lot of unsused and abandoned buildings on a conveniently located street), (2) that part of Delmar near and around the metro bus HQ and BP (another nuisance business) and the abandoned cool building on the SE corner of Deb/Delmar is redeveloped and cleaned up, and (3) they figure out some marginal improvement for the loop trolleys economic impact. I have to think there are just some bad property owners sitting on things hoping property values shoot up to Euclid level at some point and can sell to developers but have no intention of building themselves
^I'm not sure the lack of nearby housing units was the problem (though it may be for the next few years while half the units are vacant because of the tornado). With the expo and Hudson the immediate area added hundreds of housing units, along with the new apartments along Pershing. Another addition of housing units on that scale seems unlikely to me, if for nothing else there's no comparable amount of underused parcels.
As of the 2020 Census, Debaliviere Place was one of the most densely populated neighborhoods in the City.
We all know Sid & Vik are shady people which could explain the Hudson's vacancy. The Expo I don't really know, but the fact that the only businesses they have leased to were Fields Foods (with a built on sand business model) and an extremely short lived Starbucks seems a bit fishy to me.

They wanted bigger gallery space. That was why. I did visit the new location precisely once. I have to say...the gallery WAS a massive improvement over the old space. And their new cafe was just gorgeous. Posh almost...but, therein I think was the issue. They very clearly spent a ton on the new space. It was really top notch. But I fear they may have overextended themselves with such fine touches. I was so sad to hear about it. It had the greatest potential to be a valuable community asset in its reborn form.dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Sep 03, 2025No idea why they left park pacific, they didn’t even have to pay rent there for 10 years it was there.
