I see the buildings on 4th Street are on the agenda again. That would be awful if they were allowed to be demolished for a parking lot. The last thing the area around the ballpark needs is more parking.

Good to see the CID nomination to the National Historic Register; like the old Shriner's Hospital on the Wash U/BJC campus, it was earmarked for demolition not too long ago.

The next meeting is monday June 22
However there is no preliminary agenda posted on the website yet. Makes me a little nervous. Is anyone able to get to it another way?

To UD
I guess the suspicious part of me thinks there could be this high-profile demo on the agenda and someone wants to avoid advance notice and publicity. Probably not the case.

To RW
I called Ms Buford already and left a message. We shall see if we get anywhere.

^ yeah, i was trying to think of a high-profile building that might be in immediate danger as well but nothing comes to mind… unless SLU is after Pevely again or something like that. or maybe CORTEX wants to raze something else. or the rumors about QT wanting to raze Bohemian Hill for another f-ing gas station are true.

by the way, what happened with the building on 4th street that was on the agenda for demo a couple of months ago?

Why do people feel the need to build retaining walls by their sidewalks? I think a gentle grassy slope looks much better.

Mowing them is a pain and they like to put flowers in them.

^Yup. Half of my front lawn is a slope, and I'm planning to level-out part of it because mowing it is a pain and I'd like to add some plantings.

Interesting. I lived in two homes with sloping front yards and never thought twice about it.

Next meeting August 24

Preliminary agenda here:-
https://www.stlouis-mo.gov/government/d ... -28-15.pdf

proposed demolition of the Southern Funeral home on south grand.

I also find it curious that a demolition permit was issued for 4529 Parkview Place near STLCOP . It is in a preservation review ward (17) but I never saw it appear on any agenda of the Preservation Board. Did I miss something?

^ I'm very interested in learning more about the Southern Funeral Home item... Vencino Group out of Springfield which has done some excellent affordable housing rehabs (including the one here in Delmar for Veterans) is proposing to tear it down and construct an addition to the adjacent, currently vacant three-story apartment building. I wish both buildings were rehabbed but I'm open to seeing what they have in mind.

I live very close to here and I am very interested in this! If the addition extends the street wall I would be pleased. That corridor is really the only area that could be redeveloped for a walkable neighborhood commercial stretch in the neighborhood. With a metrolink stop (If it is ever extended) it could see a lot of action.

The final agenda is up.

http://www.stlouis-mo.gov/government/de ... 4-2015.pdf

They want to construct an underwhelming addition to the corner apartment building and tear the Southern for ( sigh) parking.

The main building will have 28 units and the addition will have another 21. Sounds substantial enough to be built along Grand.
