We are all in the thanking mood because we are so grateful for this building and all the other new buildings.

Hi, everybody, it's been a while but very happy to see pics of the Park East Tower going up. As for the Argyle apartments, they might have looked charming but they were a dump. I lived there with four guys and we got to know the Orkan man real well. But to some extent I agree that from the outside they might have been more charming than the library of concrete.

Hi Dashalove -

Insects are no reason to tear down a building. An exterminator, proper maintenance, and a little rehab would have gone a long way. It was obvious that the building owner wasn't big on maintenance or updating. But, it doesn't matter now. That was so long ago, no need to make a fuss about it.

I think everyone is excited about the Park East.

I just got a call from Park East re the electrical plan. I guess I have to decide where I want the TV to be. Anybody have advice for me? Should I put a socket in the middle of wall in case I get a plasma. I could probably cover it up with art if I don't, right?

I would go for the socket in the wall. Easy to cover until you get that plasma! You can buy a painting from a local artist. You will probably have a great view. Have an artist paint your view and hang it over the socket :) .

That's very Donald Trump. I'll take pictures of my apartment and hang them all over. Better yet, I'll get a big finger and stick it on my balcony with a big sign that says "You're Fired." The Don actually did that on one of his buildings in New York. He has no shame. I love him.

If you're planning on a plasma, definately have the guy wire it for you. Additionally, see if he can run an additional conduit for video/audio cables, then you'll have no wires exposed.

FYI, there is also something called wiretrim which I used to hide the wires to my plasma. You attach it to the wall, run the cables through, and then paint it - it works well.

^I've got them, but you're going to have to wait until next week when I get back in town. The view of the tower rising from the hill on SLU's campus is really cool.

According to an advertisment in today's St. Louis Business

Journal, the Park East Tower only has 9 units remaining.

Only nine units? I'm not surprised. I stopped by the sales office last summer for a chat with the agent and left my contact info with her. I only got one follow-up e-mail, about three months later, asking if I was still interested. Other than that, nothing. There was no hard sell. Obviously Opus found it relatively easy to sell these things, which is a great sign for the other high-rises planned for the CWE.

Hey Matt, can you let us know bout how many floors its up to? I don't get down that way much (stupid St. Charles to Lambert commute) unless there are Cards games or I'm going out in downtown, Clayton, Loop, etc., usually at night...hopefully all that will change if I move to U. City!

The tower is getting up there. I was in the CWE a few weeks ago and they were on the 12th floor. I think once it hits 20 we are really going to see what an impact it will make,

Yep, this is exciting. The first real high rise since the Eagleton Courthouse in 2000.

You can see it rising pretty well from the midtown area, especially walking down laclede at Spring and coming down West Pine Mall on the SLU campus.
