Well, I see they booked Riddle of Steel and Dozemarypool on September 1, so they've earned back some of my respect... Too bad I'll be in Vermont for a wedding that weekend.

I'd give them some time to book better acts.

I went there on Friday for a few beers - great place. They have a nice patio overlooking downtown as well.

Why is time necessary? They've known they were going to open up for a long time, they should have been setting up shows for weeeks, if not months. The Bluebird just opened, and they have a great bunch of shows lined up already - http://www.bluebirdstl.com/shows.html

Stopped in the on Wed evening. Wow! Someone dropped a bundle on this place.

It's so big- and soon to expand- I wonder if they will be able to attract the numbers they need to bring in on a daily basis.

Looks like it will be a great place to see a band. Bartender said she had heard that they had booked Sheryl Crow.

I went down to the Rock House last night (Thursday), and the place looks amazing. What made the evening even better was that Steve Ewing from the Urge got up on stage and played a 2 hour set with a guitarist. It was great hearing some of those old Urge tunes... We're goin to the liquor store!

Went there last night. Nice place and you can tell they spent a ton of money on the place. Great to see infill like this.

Though the bathroom situation there really sucks. Only one unisex on the main level. Small 3 unit mens and womens in the basement and second floor. Last night even with a smaller crowd there were lines at times. If they get a full house it's really going to suck spending half your time in the line for the restroom.

Guys: lots of women there last night. A very non-sausage fest ratio.

The food menu looks good too.

I think if they get control of the junk yard, an outdoor concert venue is planned. It'd be a great location for an amphitheater. Anything is better than Riverport (can't recall the name this year).

I saw him perform at Jammin' at the Zoo last week - he sounds awesome with just a single guitar player backing him.

I've heard the same rumor about them wanting the junk yard for an outdoor venue. I agree that Riverport sucks big-time a**. Though this place would be much smaller: kinda like Stubbs in Austin Texas. Good for 2000-3000.

They're having a Kennedy's Reunion Show this Friday at the Old Rock House. Members of The Urge, Pale Devine, Big Fun etc are supposed to be playing. Trying to decide between that and Robert Randolph playing at "Live on the Levee".

That amphitheater space sounds like a great idea. Better, and most important, much more convenient than Verizon Wireless.

I'll have to check out the current space soon.

You may be able to do both. I'm thinking RR would be done by 9:00 or 9:30?

If you have to choose, pick RR. It's not even close.

I'm thinking both. But I'm kinda gunshy after the split Cardinals double header on Saturday (followed by the Old Rock House). My liver and wallet hate me.

I had lunch there this week and it was very good. Pretty decent lunch crowd also. The building is remarkable and definately should receive some type of award. The view of downtown and the Arch is very nice as the building has huge windows.

Restrooms are next to nonexistent. I don't know how they plan on handling anything greater than a lunch crowd. Maybe there are some in the basement??

If they could pull off something like Stubb's that would be huge, although St. Louis' weather isn't quite as conducive to outdoor concerts as Austin's is...

This developer now has two projects completed on the same intersection. Does anyone know if he has any additional property in the area? In a somewhat isolated area like this, it would be beneficial to build up the area. It would be great if someone built something similar across the street to the north.

They were part of the development team that was working on the Ice House District, but I believe they split off from that group. Haven't heard anything about the Ice House District in quite a while.

There are bathrooms in the basement. The guys has two urinals and one toilet. The gals room downstairs (according to my fiance') has two toilets.

Like I said they had barely a 1/4 full crowd last Saturday night and there were lines for the restrooms. If they get an event with a full house, things could get pretty messy. Something tells me they're going to end up like rBar and having to put porta-potties outside plus doing emergency construction to add restrooms.

^inexplicable to put that much money in a place yet not include enough restroom space.

Maybe they will include additional restrooms during the next phase of construction when they add teh dining room to the south of the stage area.

Add a trough in each bathroom and they're set.

Nothing more says you're at a "quality" drinking establishment then when the mens room has a trough. That explains why they have them at Wrigley Field.
