STL City has released a website dedicated to the stadium and such https://www.stlcitystadium.com/ has some Q&A and new renderings
Not off to a good start with 1900 Olive
Our district will be artfully integrated into the fabric of the Downtown West neighborhood. We will bring vitality and drive inspiration through inspiring architecture and public spaces, and through creative uses of infrastructure and technology.
While our stadium district is still in development, ultimately it will be home to a diverse selection of restaurants, bars, living spaces and family experiences.
The steel frame of the northwest bar/pavilion is in place, along with about half the columns on the north side of the stadium:![]()

Ha! I just noticed that CITY deleted the security fencing from the rendering of their training compound that they are using on their websites. I guess it finally dawned on someone with the team that the optics of a half mile of 8' security fence are not great.

While a good eagle-eye find, I wouldn't put much stock into this. Especially because the very next pic shows a different perspective of the practice fields with the fencing still in place. They'll need to have some barrier to keep soccer balls from rolling into the streets, and for all we know the non-fencing rendering could have been an older version that someone uploaded by mistake.

Yeah, I didn't mean they were actually going to get rid of all the security fences. I'm saying they deleted them from their website rendering for political reasons.Laife Fulk wrote: ↑Mar 19, 2021While a good eagle-eye find, I wouldn't put much stock into this. The press presentation of all those training facility renderings came earlier. That
included the first aerial shot of the whole facility which showed all the fencing, which was then deleted when they created their new web page for some reason.

The video from Stephen at Schlafly this week is really impressive:
How do you know they were political reasons?urbanitas wrote: ↑Mar 19, 2021Yeah, I didn't mean they were actually going to get rid of all the security fences. I'm saying they deleted them from their website rendering for political reasons.
^ Yeah the only complaints I've heard about this project primarily come from the users here.
The general public seems to be pretty excited. I haven't heard any consistent b*tching outside of UrbanSTL about fencing, public access, or urban design.

I'm guessing they mean PR more than politics.
$50.8M building permit issued for the practice fields, pavilion, training and maintenance buildings.

^ No. People seem to be pretty excited about this, that's just my feeling. It's ok that it's not yours. Feel free to go do some of your own polling.
Nope. I used the appropriate phrase.
But, when you are talking about a half billion dollar real estate development by very wealthy, lily white suburbanites, in a depressed urban area, what is the difference between public relations and politics?

^^ as long as we've established that it's your feeling i'm satisfied. what pisses me off is dismissing any criticism of your fave project as b*tching. i'm happy about the team. that doesn't mean i can't criticize aspects of their "urban" campus on a goddamned urban blog.
^ I dismiss criticism as b*tching when we're rehashing the same argument for the 10th time.
No one is saying there aren't valid criticisms...it's when some of you keep steering the conversation into things we have no control over that it gets old...and bitchy. It's just rehashing the same arguments over and over again.
At least I actually live in the St. Louis area and because of my job I meet lots of new people and can say, at least in my anecdotes, there's a lot of excitement around town for this project...and not just with "young, white men," either.
It's like the Foundry thread...I think we all agree there are some concerns with various aspects of that project, but when the thread is hijacked to complain about the parking garage for the 400th time...sorry, but to me that's just b*tching at that point.

I'm not going to get bent out of shape and assume a conspiracy because a fence disappeared.
You know what really grinds my gears? 10, 20 or even 30 year trees pictured where none have been or ever will be.

Not bent out of shape. I think it's hilarious. And sorry about your gears.dweebe wrote: ↑Mar 19, 2021I'm not going to get bent out of shape and assume a conspiracy because a fence disappeared.

That's a huge excavation; I wonder if they're uncovering any interesting archeological finds.
Well there was a natural spring pretty deep there so maybe archeological things could be left behind or something
They found evidence of a dimwitted, barbaric civilization that appears to have used almost the entire property as a massive viaduct that itself was used to access another, even larger viaduct. They're still trying to figure out how those viaducts benefitted the surrounding area, if at all.framer wrote: ↑Mar 20, 2021That's a huge excavation; I wonder if they're uncovering any interesting archeological finds.
