Whether its one group, two groups or even a larger bigger inclusive community input group still comes down to one thing that most us would agree on the thread. MLS2STL isn't going to happen without a deep pocketed owner comes forward to back a franchise.. preferably a lot sooner then later.

Otherwise, St Louis is in the same position it was years ago when a soccer stadium was proposed as part of a Collinsville development, or when a soccer stadium was rendered where Menards now stands, or some one writes a letter and with a team name ready to go.

Multiple groups competing for the team here in STL is beneficial to everyone. So not sure why people are complaining about it, hopefully it means less public funding as usually competition would get the city better terms overall

It would be nice to see (for once) the groups get on the same page and join forces, instead of competing. If that would have occurred back in the 90's, we'd have the St. Louis Stallions, getting ready to start a new season this coming Sunday. Let's hope these opposing forces do not turn off MLS.

^ I guess my issue or what I don't understand, either way, is their really two groups competing? MLS2STL isn't an ownership group as far as I know it includes everyone and anyone associated with Dave Peacock to the Blues to the Cardinals. If their is an ownership group within will they please stand up is all I ask.

^ Months ago the MLS2STL group said there was a deep pocket investor who couldn't be named because they were engaged in extreme vetting of the STL market (sorry for the joke). It has been assumed, though there's no confirmation, that someone(s) a part of MLS2STL would be the deep pockets, or at least a significant minority owner.

Also St. Louis FC is hiring Preki as their head coach... seems ominous...

^Looks like he's got a pretty solid resume, with MLS playing and coaching experience and a recent USL championship (as a coach). The initial press seems to be pretty positive. Why is hiring him ominous?

Preki has MLS coaching experience (along with USL) and was rumored to be in line for EPL darling Leicester City job last year - That never came to be - I think that "ominous" reference was that he could be an ideal "transition" coach - But I don't think they would promote the coach if StLFC becomes the operational partner in the MLS2STL effort, but you never know - if he has success with StLFC and we get the expansion team he could be the best candidate who already understands the culture of parent organisation.

Regardless - great hire for StLFC after a dismal year

Foundry St Louis has a survey.
FSL will use your answers as a basis for discussion on stadium design. This discussion will be held at Urban Chestnut in The Grove, October 18th at 7 PM – and you’re invited.

Close to metrolink, so I like that aspect. It would probably be good for that area. It still would probably be better more downtown but I don't mind this location.

I like the site... decent access and the clean site should reduce costs considerably. However, from a development perspective I think it has good potential for more productive use.

I think you can pretty much state the same for West Downtown site as a clean site and decent access based on a rebuilt 22nd interchange on the east side and Union Station on the west side. On top of it, MoDOT turning over most of its property it owns for the failed 22nd parkway back to city if not mistaken would also lower the land acquisition costs that might be involved.

I also like the fact that an area bounded by a new 22nd street interchange, Market Street, Broadway and metrolink which already has the Cardinals, Blues, Peabody along Union Station w its existing hotel rooms, BPV, and more rooms nearby as well as access/walking distance to three metrolink stations and Amtrak will only get better with a MLS stadium. Couple more key infills along Clark/Cupples and a respectable BPV phase II makes for a great area in its own right.

Can understand and appreciate the merits of the site proposed by Foundry. Just don't see it is as good of location for MLS as west downtown next to Union Station is. Nor do I really see this stadium a blessing for the Foundry in the long run - I think you would see a lot of cars come and go as well a metrolink riders before and after the game but not much foot traffic hoofing it to Midtown or the Grove. Foundry's success is going to be tied to Cortex/Wexford/East Cortex continued to be built out/add jobs and its proximity to the SLU campus. Things will be good if the development spills over to the Armory and better Grand metrolink station access is sought

It was mentioned on Frank C's show this morning by Bill Mcdermett (spelling?) that we "could" hear that we are getting a team within months. The MLS2STL group is in contact with the league office and Garber daily. Garber will probably be in town around Thanksgiving (could possibly announce it then but that might be too quick). Still looks like they are looking on the river and at union station both for sites. Guesses expansion could be around 125 mil and stadium would also be aroudn that.

This group is the orignal group, not the foundary group. He doesn't know how much contact the other group has had with the MLS.

Be great if whichever ownership group that doesn't get the MLS team takes that steam towards attracting an NBA franchise. Just a thought

I pictured it up to the corner of Chouteau and Grand. Interesting having it go over the railroad tracks.

Actually would make sense to have it closer to the Metro station with a greenway platform over the tracks. Also provides a large fan plaza for events fronting Chouteau. Granted this is just an initial rendering that I'm assuming has 0 chance of ever being built resembling this site plan.

It looks totally isolated from anything that could resemble a neighborhood around it. Being near a metro stop is great but the only positives I see are potential use of the pevely site, a great view of downtown, and a pre game March from the grove to the stadium by fans. Otherwise it's only just a step above a stadium in the county, barely less unattractive than a stadium on north riverfront.

Just an opinion. I personally prefer west of union station for the potential to be incorporated into a street grid and a neighborhood. I'd love someone else's opinion.

My thoughts is the rendering first and foremost gets it as close as they can get to the Armory and therefore the Foundry as possible which fits into the fact that its Foundry folks - LG/Bull Moose offering an alternate ownership group to MLS. Why not put something out there that would benefit themselves. The plus being it also gets it close to Grand metrolink station and therefore offering a better transit connection to all of the above. Would do the same if I was them.

I honestly like the location and I'm one to say not everything has to be downtown however this particular stadium puts it next to one of the hottest burgeoning areas in the country cortex slu bjc city foundry cwe grove new medical hospital possible new housing this entire area will fill in with or without the stadium
Only question isn't one of the requirements by MLS is the facility to be open air??
I have no doubt wherever the new stadium goes it has the potential to be a magnet for more development
My hunch is that it will be downtown next to union station..

Definitely pretty renderings, and I would ultimately be happy with an MLS stadium anywhere in the city, but I do believe the site next to Union Station would be the best overall. I also think having a professional sports stadium next to a hospital could pose some challenges.
