I hadn't left home all day yesterday (SUN), and needed a meal, so I went to Lumiere at about 5:30. Easily parked in the parking garage (it's free for now) and headed straight to the Burger Bar. I sat at the bar (with 6 other customers), and was immediately offered a drink. It was all downhill from there. Even though the three bartenders would walk by me (searching for liquor to make drinks for other clients...it was comical), no one would make eye contact, and the place is so loud they couldn't hear me calling them. Finally got a burger ordered after 20 minutes. The food arrived quickly in about 10 minutes (they had a food runner) without silverware or napkins. Once that got squared away I finally ate the burger, which was fine. Not great, but fine. The place was pretty much a mess (the bartenders were stacking dirty dishes from bar customers on the floor behind the bar. I would expect that kind of activity in a dive, or if every seat at the bar was taken and they were slammed, but that wasn't the case). Overall, the gaming floor was packed, and there were lots of people walking around ogling the place. Glad I went once, but likely won't go back. I'm just not into casinos.

I'll continue to eat better burgers at Liluma, The Royale, or O'Connels, though, and will try the new burger menu at Sub Zero soon.

the lady and I went for dinner at burger bar after the blues game. I had the kobe burger and she had the blackened angus. Wow, I highly recommend both burgers and also the sweet potato fries and zuchini fries. 2 meals and 6 beers we about 50 bucks. We had great services, sat at the bar (there was a long wait for tables). My only complaint about BB was that they said they couldn't chance the channels on the tv's, and I couldn't watch SNF. THAT HAS TO CHANGE.

After that we gambled for a few hours and then ventured into Oasis and listened to a wonderful trio (piano, sax, singer) for a few drinks. All in All I'm blown away by the place. Let's just say i'm glad I bought PNK stock last week.

After that we went to Flamingo bowl. That place will do very well too!

That said, I noticed they have been using just one color per night with the glohawk. Is there a reason why they haven't been mixing it up with different colors or patterns?

It's lit up like a candy cane tonight. (Christmas Eve)

Here's what I know about the light and what happened at opening. One of the fireworks sequences cause an unexpected vibration that knocked out the wireless signal for 3 minutes. It would have been pretty cool if that didn't happen. Murhphy's Law I guess. They are doing fireworks again for New Years and think they have it figured out. During the testing before the opening the light did some pretty cool things that haven't been shown yet.

Where do I apply to be the guy that gets to play with the lights?

Does anybody know if the glohawk will go crazy if someone hits the jackpot? Now that would be really cool.

Went to the late night mass at St. Stanislaus. Could see all the way from the church it's lit up with Christmas colors. Looks like a candy cane from the side.

The webcam doesn't do it justice.

Went today for lunch with co-workers. I'm not a buffet fan, but the Lumiere buffet was actually pretty good. There were no huge troughs and the food was pretty high quality. The shrimp were really good size (16ct at least), and they had 3 types of mussels with different vegetables, as well as normal chicken, steak, roast something or other, and pizza. They did have a small mixture of sushi rolls including tuna, and some interesting vegetables.

If you are looking for a salad bar, it is very underwhelming, but there are plenty of other greens to keep you happy.

The dessert bar has lots of very small but higher-quality items. It was obvious that some had been sitting for too long, but otherwise not bad and being made constantly in plain sight. They also have ice cream by the (tiny) scoop, probably 8 or 10 different flavors so you can try several.

For lunch, weekdays at least, it is $13, or $11 if you have a card. That includes a drink. Not sure if the $11 price will stay fixed or if that's just to get everyone signing up for cards (and, therefore, e-mail and snail mail). All the lines for cards were about 15 to 20 minutes.

I was surprised at how small the casino is. There were $5 and $10 tables going, and the $5s were all packed. Looks like a mixture of slots, including pennies. Great idea to have machines where you can cash out your tickets instead of waiting for a cashier. Maybe others have these now but I haven't been in a while.

The garage is awful. Simply awful. There isn't a design per se but hundreds of little inlets and dead ends and no sort of flow. It's every car for itself. Several times there were two cars coming down the same aisle while another car was wedged into a side nook trying to get out but nobody was able to go anywhere. It was free to park today.

The elevators from one side of the garage don't really tell you what floor to get off on. Pushing the "1" (with a big star by it) didn't work. We finally went to "2", walked down a staircase, and ended up at a big wooden barricade, which we jumped over, right into the casino main entrance. No idea what that was about.

The interior isn't quite as faux-looking as, say, Ameristar, and in some places it's quite nice, with real exposed rock and better materials. There is still lots of plastic and wallpaper, though.

All the restaurants were busy, including Asia and the Burger Bar.

Overall, not bad. The worst part was the parking and casino access from there. I'd definitely consider Metrolink first.

I remember someone asking what was the name of the song on thier commercials. It was bothing me becasue I knew I had heard it somewhere before. I turn on the TV and there it was. It was in the movie French Kiss with Kevin Kline and Meg Ryan. The name of the song is Via Con Me by Paolo Conte (although I don't know if it's the same guy singing it in thier commercials)

Went to Burger Bar Saturday night. Had to wait 20 minutes for a table which is no big deal. We were seated and no one came to our table once withing 20 minutes. We told the hostess twice no one came to our table yet. After 20 minutes we left and the hostess was very apologetic but it was too late. There was no sign of management anywhere in the restaurant just hurried waitress looking clueless.

Very sad they are not prepared. Reputations are hard to change.

Get it together soon Lumiere Place!!!!

^Sorry to hear about your experience. It's a new establishment. There are going to problems here and there, I suspect. I suggest writing them about your experience. Maybe they will give you a free meal to try them again. It's worth a try.

Remember, Lumiere Place said it was looking for attractive, energetic, fun-loving people. They didn't say anything about experience or intelligence...

i'll take an attractive, energetic, and fun loving waitress over a competent tub of lard any day.

Every time I go to Lumiere, I can't help but wish other casinos were located within walking distance. I know I've said this b4, it's just annoying that everything is so spread out in this town.

Did anyone catch the lightbox at midnight? They had it doing all sorts of things, not just the the one color thing they have been doing.

So how's the actual gambling? People keep posting about the restaurants - but IT'S A CASINO. How's the gambling? People winning/losing, how're the dealers, quantity/variety of games, number of $5/$10/$25/$50 tables, etc? I know we're in the era of food porn now, but what about their main business?

I had sushi at the Asia Bar (?) It was good. Not bad prices either. Lets just say the Burger Bar was far more packed than the Asia Bar/Restaurant. My favorite part of the experience was when the hostess asked us if we were "familiar with sushi", I guess a lot of the clientèle from Missourah is not... ha. I just never thought sushi was that sophisticated.

No different than any other casino - people are losing. That's how they build them.

I always thought of sushi as being somewhat sophisticated. I've never had it and if it was my first time I wouldn't know what the hell was up.

What did it do? I missed it, cuz it only lasted about a minute as far as I can tell. At 12:04 the combed-over streak was back to plain solid color, whatever color that was supposed to be...and then it was solid green later.

Earlier in the evening it was a constantly shifting peach/purple/pink instead of a solid color - with each panel changing color individually, which was interesting, outside of the awful color selection itself.

Why don't they have it set like that all of the time instead of just a solid color? It's not like it takes more energy.

went there for the first time last weekend. not trying to be a nay-sayer but the floor looks like sh*t. for 500 million they could have laid the carpet properly - there were gaps and bulges all over the place. not to mention the floor panels clank like loose sewer-covers when you walk on them. also, all the complementary drink areas were in shambles. frankly i felt like i was back on the president. all in all i'm not convinced this is going to be any better for the city.

The arc action at midnight was very brief. It started off in red and was a checkered movement. Some may have seen this in the past because I do recall one evening in the past when they tested that motion. Beyond that, it was multi colored that would basically do the wave across the arc...it lasted the duration of the fireworks which really wasn't noteworthy compared to the display from 19 DEC.

It would be interesting to see the construction budget for this project. The bathtub and comb-over, and I suppose the casino security, must have cost a hell of a lot, cuz I just don't see what else they could have spent the $$$ on. If this is all half a billion dollars buys these days, we should dramatically lower our expectations for Ballpark Village.

Did I forget to mention that this Casino is architecturally a piece of sh*t? Could the garage be more prominent?
