Good to hear Matguy...I stand corrected on the matter of old people and shopping

The only thing other than the need for stocked shelves that stood out for me was that the building itself could use some uplights and it will make a HUGE difference when the Farm & Home Savings building gets done as that side of Locust looks really beaten up across from Left Bank. Also when the Indigo hotel is complete and Syndicate retail fills in this will be one incredible corner.
I think they could also use some sort of signage that sticks out from the building - something that would be visible from a distance.
Shouldn't it really be called the Right Bank? In any case, I'm looking forward to checking out the selection. I do shop at Amazon but also at Borders for when I want something now... I hope to be able to swap Borders for Left Bank.

According to the definition you posted, I suppose the same would be true for the original LBB location at Euclid and McPherson avenues.
Though alone, I said out loud "This place is gonna rock!" when I saw the pix. MatGuy70, you 'rock' for what you and your company is doing for downtown. Good job!

Off the top of my head, I think it is a reference to the Left Bank in Paris.
Unless they are dyslexic.

I am pretty sure it's called Left Bank because:
St. Louis is on the West Bank of the Mississippi River. If north is considered the default direction ("up"), then west is left and right is east.
It was also known to carry "leftist" books at its opening: women's rights, gay movement, etc.

Stopped in today, it's a very nice layout. For those wanting to give it a try, you may want to wait a couple days. It is not yet fully stocked. Great space, great location.
We dropped by today on our way over to Macy's, the setup inside is awesome, but their stock is really not very good yet. This place will be a huge addition to the neighborhood, it is really nice inside. They are adding wi-fi and a sitting area and there will be a wine bar next door which will connect and they will hold events in the basement of the wine bar.
^ It's good to see them place such focus on the book experience. They surely can't compete on price, but they can solidify a niche if they bring a certain romance back to the written word.

I just ordered my wife's presents from them online. It was about $7 more expensive than Amazon, but I also got free shipping since my order was over $50.
Thanks to whomever posted those pictures! (I'm too lazy to go back and look)
Were my eyes going crazy, or did I see a selection of comic books in one of those pics? *drool*

Anyone been by the store lately?
How is it looking?
How is biz?
Thanks.

I'll let you know shortly...
Shelves are not entirely filled yet but they have a lot more books in them than they did when the store first opened. My understanding is that they hope to have the shelves fully stocked by the time of their grand opening which I was told would be in the middle of January.
Hopefully the spines will be showing instead of the faces. I couldn't find any business related books and had to settle for Dr. Seuss instead.

That's good - they still have a long way to go before the shelves are fully stocked.
That said, there was a pretty good stream of customers when I was there, and people were making purchases. Considering that this is a pretty slow day downtown, that could be a good sign.

Don't you get enough business-related reading in grad school?
Dr. Suess may have a better business theory.
Maybe he would have been a better choice than Greenspan.

We shopped today. Much better selection. Nice helpful staff. When you shop let them know if you want expanded hours/selection, they seem very receptive to feedback.
Jimmy Carter is scheduled to appear for a book signing on February 10th. Pre-order your book for a ticket. We ordered ours today.
