Too bad we can't force them to match $100M in an account for STL to pursue an NBA team, loladdxb2 wrote: ↑May 14, 2025It’ll end up passing. When it came out the Portland Trail Blazers were for sale, KC social media and sports heads got all wound up.pattimagee wrote: ↑May 15, 2025Too bad we can't force them to match $100M in an account for STL to pursue an NBA team, loladdxb2 wrote: ↑May 14, 2025It’ll end up passing. St.Louis has far deeper pockets than KC to maybe pull off getting an NBA it’s whether those pockets want to splurge on getting a team here & if NBA even wants to be in St.Louis. Seems like NBA
rather be in KC than St.Louis.

I though Quiktrip was from Tulsa, why are they bending over for Kansas city so much all of a sudden?dweebe wrote: ↑May 15, 2025When it came out the Portland Trail Blazers were for sale, KC social media and sports heads got all wound up.pattimagee wrote: ↑May 15, 2025Too bad we can't force them to match $100M in an account for STL to pursue an NBA team, loladdxb2 wrote: ↑May 14, 2025It’ll end up passing. This is some irrelevant company to the NBA saying that they want a team in KC.PlatinumBlues wrote: ↑May 15, 2025St.Louis has far deeper pockets than KC to maybe pull off getting an NBA it’s whether those pockets want to splurge on getting a team here & if NBA even wants to be in St.Louis. I don't think it matters to the NBA or shows their preference.

QT is HQ in OKC. They are probably pushing for a regional rival.jacob_rb_15 wrote: ↑May 15, 2025I thought Quiktrip was from Tulsa, why are they bending over for Kansas city so much all of a sudden?
It’s even less than that. It’s a communications department of two college graduates making a joke on Twitter.RockChalkSTL wrote:This is some irrelevant company to the NBA saying that they want a team in KC.PlatinumBlues wrote: ↑May 15, 2025St.Louis has far deeper pockets than KC to maybe pull off getting an NBA it’s whether those pockets want to splurge on getting a team here & if NBA even wants to be in St.Louis. Thanks Kansas City! If it weren’t for your unstable and self destroying border war, weak corporate citizenship, ineffective local politicians, and uninspiring team owners… the City of St. Louis would’ve had to consider their own money for Busch in 2027-2030. Plus the additional $100M in recovery funds made possible only by a special session will likely prevent STL from having to dip any further into its reserve funds.

I think the bill requires some level of local match?whitherSTL wrote:This is true.addxb2 wrote: ↑Jun 05, 2025Thanks Kansas City! Field of Schemes - Missouri senate agrees in middle of night to spend $1B+ on Chiefs and Royals stadiums in exchange for tornado relief, other goodies

The bill is written to be specific to venues only 30,000 and bigger and doesn't do anything for ancillary stuff like BPV or Power & Light.legendrey wrote: ↑Jun 05, 2025Curious if this might spark the next phase of BPV
Well yes, but I'd imagine this allows Cardinals ownership a little more financial flexibility/certainty. If part of the reason for holding off on the next phase was worries about having to spend on the stadium upgrades in the coming years like addxb2...alluded2
Gotcha.legendrey wrote: ↑Jun 05, 2025Well yes, but I'd imagine this allows Cardinals ownership a little more financial flexibility/certainty. If part of the reason for holding off on the next phase was worries about having to spend on the stadium upgrades in the coming years like addxb2...alluded2
Also interesting that they wrote it 30,000+ so that Enterprise Center and T-Mobile Center were excluded.
The version I read just says “The Director and the Commissioner must be satisfied that there is sufficient public investment made by units of local government to support infrastructure or other needs generated by the project.”ldai_phs wrote:I think the bill requires some level of local match?whitherSTL wrote:This is true.addxb2 wrote: ↑Jun 05, 2025Thanks Kansas City! Very low bar.

At some point they were discussing limiting to MLB or NFL tenanted facilities. Not sure if that made it into the finalAuggie wrote:I'd me more interested in what it means for the Dome than Busch.

This probably pushes Missouri up in line slightly for NBA/NHL expansion too
Someone a few days ago said that it only applies to stadiums with 30k+ capacity.GoHarvOrGoHome wrote: ↑Jun 10, 2025This probably pushes Missouri up in line slightly for NBA/NHL expansion too
KCATA has the power to grant tax incentives which is there with this project (and a few others in KCMO)
