I find in my business travels that some nights ordering a pie for the hotel room and finding something on the TV is hands down the best option. For better or worse also find that Domino's website is easy and their is allows, allows one nearby wherever I go for work. But I do have a few favorites here and there once you get to know the area or come back a few times

^I'll have to give them a try again. It's been so VERY many years I'd nearly forgotten about them until this conversation came up.
That is easily one of the best Imo's in all of the Downtown vicinity. I have three options within my delivery zone, and it tries to automatically get me to use the 4th street location. So anyone staying at the Hilton or nearby will probably be defaulted to 4th street and know no better.SeattleNative wrote: ↑Feb 21, 2020Not the one on the 1700 block of Delmar? That was my first experience with Imo’s and a very positive one.bwcrow1s wrote:That 4th street Imo's is one of the worst in the city, and yet, probably, and unfortunately, the most ordered from by out of towners in hotels.

Sometimes I personally question if there’s a true St Louis style pi/pizza seems many locals aren’t in like with IMO’s however I grew up with it so it’s a staple on the special occasions or more than that. Back to CL I think a signature type hotel would be good for this area I really hope this can come to life. One thing I like to see more of in Downtown is the encouragement of high rise residential no matter how many older historic buildings that are left to be renovated also new construction on the surface parking I think anything is possible

It would also be cool to see Stil 360 move to CL from its current location in a converted Hardee's on 4th Street.

They will definitely move in the next 3-5 years. Just waiting for the right space. In the meantime they just did a few minor renovations to the Hardee's

The Bread Co, Hardees, Lions Choice all empty saddens me. When I took a friend down to the XFL game Sunday, we looked for places to lunch and they commented on all of the empty store fronts. Not trying to be negative. We have some successful pockets. We need these spots filled and I would be happy to see the Rally's. White Castle, Taco Bell and others move there to then prepare for more renovation.debaliviere wrote: ↑Feb 24, 2020It would also be cool to see Stil 360 move to CL from its current location in a converted Hardee's on 4th Street.

Maybe its more than they are prepared to take on but i really wish they would look across the street to 502 LaSalle. Much more space and some historic character would be an awesome fit.debaliviere wrote: ↑Feb 24, 2020It would also be cool to see Stil 360 move to CL from its current location in a converted Hardee's on 4th Street.
This armchair developer has their current being redeveloped as a Euro-style mid-rise hotel. (...think Aloft or Home2Suites)
There was a florist in that old Hardee's for a few years before Stil 630. I won't be sad to see that building go, but it is kind of incredible that it has hung around and been occupied as long as it has.

That would be amazing. It's a great building for something like that or a brewery.STLEnginerd wrote: ↑Feb 25, 2020Maybe its more than they are prepared to take on but i really wish they would look across the street to 502 LaSalle. Then knock down the Rally's/gas station and extend French Market Street all the way to Chouteau.
There was a homicide at the Taco Bell last night. This doesn't surprise me at all and is one of the reasons why I say the Taco Bell, White Castle, BP and ZX gas station thing are troublesome. Rally's has been gone, so that's excellent.
Just a few weeks ago, cruisers made this area their home with a night of acting wild. Drag racing, doing donuts in the parking lot and in the middle of the streets... not good at all.
Redevelopment will come and plans are progressing but slowly. Something drastic needs to be done about 4th and Broadway and that should include road diets, curb bump-outs, speed humps and other things. Painting bike lanes on the ground does absolutely nothing to stop those who break the laws of the road anyway. The fast food and gas stations have to go. We need to eliminate those types of places where crime happens because it's bad to have especially when you're trying to get lenders to back your project. Also, the graffiti garage has become a drug market for people on foot. I sat over there one day and watched several people exchange money and drugs. It's utterly embarrassing.

^ Oof, looking at the timing of that incident, I'm pretty sure that I saw part of the response to that shooting scream by in front of my work on Grand right before I left last night.
A survey on the Pedestrian Experience in the area. I created this survey and have been told that this can guide some of the decisions in the area. https://forms.gle/MTBcChGP1HkirK127
^ Done! Those were so easy to answer...most of the options seemed seemed like a joke. Lol.
Yes. An update is coming soon. Can’t go into too many details.thestlguy wrote:Is this project still happening?
The options seem ridiculous but you never know how some people feel about them. I can see the results and they're not what you expect.EssTeeEll wrote: ↑Jun 25, 2020^ Done! Those were so easy to answer...most of the options seemed seemed like a joke. Lol.
^ Interesting. Any development is better than it remaining stagnant, but you still hope for the best outcome. I'll stay tuned for your update later.

Just got around to answering that form. I have 1 suggestion as a designer and user of bike lanes I’d invest some time in learning the language of the difference in tiers/classes of bike lanes. Took me a moment to think about the way they were worded to choose the accurate class for that road. That or use pictures instead of words for your explanations. Pictures always help the average person.
I'll go ahead and say that planning for Chouteau's Landing has been going great (at least that's the way it seems). Everything is falling into place nicely but I'm not going into detail on that end of it. An official update could be coming by the middle to end of July depending on how things go. The good thing is that corona, and the recession that followed, isn't really bothering this project any. To me, I think that since this project was still in it's infancy as corona came in and trends changed, the scope and plans could be changed relatively easily.
Unlike Steve Murphy's plans, these plans are much more tame and the Downtown-Soulard markets have matured a lot over the past 13 years. To me, the time is right for redevelopment of Chouteau's Landing. I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a decade, but at least we are taking care of an area that is one of the most visible sites in the City.
Now, the question continues: will 4th Street and Broadway be dealt with? Will they be left behind? I doubt anyone wants a depressing front door to what will surely be a great neighborhood. Steve Murphy didn't want it, so I doubt the new guys will.

^ I don't recall Steve Murphy's plans, but it's safe to say even a more tame plan is better than it's current state. Agreed about 4th & Broadway...as recently as last year, I had the Ballpark Pass and we would routinely scooter or walk to the games. It only took a couple of times going from Soulard to Busch down Broadway to change course. It's a shame, too, because it could be a nice 20-25 walk but there's too much deadness and craziness in between. That new apartment building at the Ford site will definitely help some.
I’m aware. The current owner, Terry McDonald, was caught by my boss and I demolishing it on Sunday August 9th. The City of St. Louis ordered a halt in demolition but the roof structure was compromised. For demolition to continue, it would have to go to the preservation board since the building dates back to around the Civil War and is part of the National Register Historic District.GoHarvOrGoHome wrote:The roof of this building has collapsed
We still think it can be salvaged but I’ll have to go by later today to see if the entire roof collapsed. These two pictures are from Monday morning August 10th. We originally intended on basically rebuilding the structure with what’s left standing since most of the bricks and the entire roof are far gone.

Damn, that blows. The last thing this area needs is another building lost. Hoping for the best.
