It's encouraging that this project seems to be moving so fast...

Clayco's Loop apartment building officially underway
http://www.stltoday.com/business/column ... 21cf3.htmlConstruction already is underway but work officially began Tuesday at Clayco Corp.'s 14-story, $66 million apartment building in the Delmar Loop.
Clayco officials presided at a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday. When completed in August 2018, the building at 6105 Delmar Boulevard will have 209 apartments, garage parking and storefronts.
Partnering with Clayco on the project is the Koman Group. Both companies had bosses at the groundbreaking ceremony. Speakers praised the project they predicted will help Loop businesses by bringing more residents to the area. The building is going up on what for years had been a vacant lot.

^ Do you think we could see Clayco teaming up with Wash U real estate company for another round of Loop development or maybe even going after the metro parking lot/small strip mall property next to the Metrolink Forest Park station? I wonder what else they have up their sleeve considering that they have become very active as a developer just as much as a contractor and are teamed up with Centene in Clayton CBD and believe their also part of the Koplar/Koman/Clayco team on Koplar's key property.
.
I understand Centene going forward on more office space but would love to see Koply/Koman/Clayco go forward on a signature structure on Koplar's prime location before Centene gets too far along with their real estate empire.

McCormack Baron had plans for that strip mall a while back. I'm not sure if they own it or if they still plan on redeveloping it.dredger wrote:^ Do you think we could see Clayco teaming up with Wash U real estate company for another round of Loop development or maybe even going after the metro parking lot/small strip mall property next to the Metrolink Forest Park station?
Tower crane is up; it really gives a sense of how much this will change the whole feel of the East Loop.

it's impressive seeing it coming from the west at the gates in u city.
This project of there's in Ann Arbor would be nice elsewhere like in Skinker between Enright and Clemens, so long as it engaged the street

Wow does it. Of course, if you're going to build a full-block mid-rise with a light well there's only so much variation, I guess. You can change colors, ornamentation, where you put the light well . . . but at the end of the day your footprint is square and you're usually going to have a C of some kind above the lobby level. Lord knows there are a thousand buildings in Missouri alone that are more or less like that in slightly different sizes. More than a few in St. Louis. Still . . . should be a nice addition.
I like that The Loop building's design is literally more refined. That Columbia, SC rendering was 1 to 2 iterations before the final Loop design.

I wish they could put one of these type towers in that grassy parcel owned by Sigma-Aldrich on Olive just west of the Wells-Fargo complex... seems like that could be a prime spot with the right development. (and of course with Streetcar running right in front.)
Exciting progress on the New Apartment Building. Crane up and elevator shaft begins to rise. ![]()

Things sure move fast when you don't have to spend a year digging a huge hole for the foundation.
