I heard that Wash U is buying this property. Not sure if it's been confirmed, though.
Would be a positive turn of events. I doubt it though. Wustl leased the place after Church's closed and tried to get the owner to sell or let them build a proper building.

Assume that it would explain in part the reason for whey Ferris Wheel is dead even though explanation as per biz journal article was a lot of negative feedback from neighbors, which also makes sense, and probably the reality of a market study showing not enough patronage at this location to be successful.
Permit applied for to demo 6190 Delmar, the boarded-up blighting former fast food building.

But there's no building permit, right? Does that mean they can just tear it down and let it sit for another couple of years?
Correct, no building permit. It could sit for many more years. This first step could have happened 4 years ago. Maybe the owner is coming around.

This lot would make for a decent pop up food truck plaza. At least temporarily until the long term development plans are figured out.
Another permit showed up, no description

Good riddance. Now for something to replace it and a new neighbor cater-corner.
That bulldozer operator must have had the most satisfying demo of their life.
Nice! Are they 100% leading the development?
Between this and the gas station redevelopment catty-cornered to this (though haven't heard anything on it in months), it will really activate the intersection and bridge both ends of Delmar.

Wouldn't have minded a little more height on that corner, but this is still perfect. Who's developing it?
I guess my dreams of seeing the city's third-best Ferris Wheel here will go unfulfilled...
I absolutely hate the name. But everything else about it is nice. Really nice.
I understand this is a preliminary rendering - I say don't change a thing about it unless it's the name or maybe adding a third story.

Unfortunately the article doesn't really contain any new information. It's really just a write up of the background and context of the site to accompany the new rendering that surfaced. The most pertinent piece of information isn't a developer, timeline, tax matters, comments from an alderman, filing of any application, etc.... but that the same entity STILL owns the site.
