^ I guess the fact that owner still owns the site is a glass half full or half empty situation.

Half full argument is demo finally happened and therefore it is more likely a mixed used development will happen over say a cash for tile, pawn shop or even a bad Chinese take out biz signs a lease.

The half empty argument is the owner put in its own cash so sit on it for more money/bigger slice of the development pie while claiming a further property tax reduction for having an empty lot. Heck, for all we know the owner might have done the demo to avoid a developer claiming the city should condemn as blighted building/business & force a sale at appraised price as what it playing out across the intersection.

All a big waste. Could easily have been an interesting restaurant/retail/art/creative space for a few years now. Would've loved a byrd&barrel right there.

I actually like this design quite a bit. Nice combination of brick and wood; no fiber-cement panels!

This may or may not be within the “official” east loop boundaries but...

The tall building near the NE corner of Delmar and DeBaliviere is currently undergoing some pretty large renovations. They’ve been repairing the exterior and spraying it with what appears to be a waterproofer of sorts. I haven’t been able to track down an info for this project, but my own personal suspicions are it’s tied in with the behavioral health facility next door. There’s hanging signs on the lighposts calling the area something to the effect of “People’s Medical Campus/Center”.

FYI that building is built and open. This would be the former Delmar Loop Apartments building just to the East.

I asked one of the workers at the location in 2nd Shift a couple weeks ago when the Loop one was opening, he said within a month. Should be opening soon I would think.

are the eyeglass place next to Salt and Smoke and the microbrewery in the old Soul/Blues space still happening? both have had their windows papered over for ages--especially the eyeglass place.

Since Joe Edwards was at the Tower Tee auction, it is likely that some of those
mini-golf items will resurface at the new place. Will be cool to see.

Is this all within the church?
Hoping the empty lot next door gets filled with a building.
Getting rid of the fence will be nice.
Hope fixing the deteriorating sidewalk happens too.

On an unrelated note, i wish the Senn brewery would look at the East Loop. There are several empty or underutilized lots that would be perfect. It would make residential further east more attractive as well.

Magic Mini Golf will be in a new building constructed next to the church. The church will be renovated for event space.

I was hoping for a more modern design, but oh well. It's also weird that the Cultural Resources Office wants them to reduce the scale of the building...looks like it matches up with the church perfectly. As far as the building to the east; well, it's downhill from the new one, so of course it's lower.
