public, do you know if there are pictures of the original 1902 Eames & Young facade posted earlier in this thread? This thread is getting long and I don't remember seeing any. Sorry if I'm rehashing old stuff here, but I would really like to see pics of the original facade.

jimjim, I assume that public is referring to the original facade not the current Art Deco slipcover.

Definition of facade:

1 : the front of a building ; also : any face of a building given special architectural treatment <a museum's east facade>

2 : a false, superficial, or artificial appearance or effect

I was assuming definition number 2, and I guess public meant number 1. If that's indeed what public meant, I'm going to have to seriously disagree. Why would it be a shame that they kept the Art Deco facade, when it's the only one left in the city? To me, there are plenty of 1900's style buildings down there.

current Art Deco slipcover

Actually, I like the Deco facade. I'd just rather its most elegant details could be restored, too.

Like what, specifically? If they restore the Art Deco facade, what else could they do? I'm confused.

That's OK. It's long thread.

Several pages up is this link.

Look at the last image in that post -- and compare it to the work being done today. You'll notice that in the current process of making one building out of two buildings -- and moving the main entrance, quite a lot of the Dorsa's 1940s makeover isn't coming back. Most conspicuously missing is the web.

Got it?

I do. Thank you.

The webbing will be windows, and I heard they were going to "recover" (as in uncover) the window under the green on the second floor (not where the flagpole is ... the window that would be just west of the flagpole). But the main entrance will be in the same place.

On the website, it looks like the main entrance will move to 1015, the other building.

Nope ... the short little entrance on the east side of Dorsa is the main entrance.

That's a good thing.

That street furniture blocks it on the rendering on the website. I hope those little painted peeps milling around the other entrance can figure it out, too.

The other entrance in the Dorsa building is the entrance to the cool lobby that will be a retail tenant. The big entrance to the building next to Doras (which is part of the Dorsa lofts) will be to a Sushi Restaurant called Mizu. I think people will figure it out.

Just heard that they're shooting for the 2nd floor display unit to be open in early June.

Very nice. Looks like framing is just about done throughout th building, and drywall is going up on 2 and maybe 3 already. And the windows are going in (I'd been wondering what they were really going to look like - I like them). Progess is great to see.

I got a binder from Pyramid today that was basically a "How To" on the next couple of months until closing (and a bit after). It was actually very nice to have everything mapped out.

Also, I've heard that about half of the pre-drywall walkthroughs are done on the second floor, and that third floor residents will likely be contacted about our walkthroughs in the next couple of weeks. Good to hear.

Something I thought was odd: the new "timeline" has 2nd floor closings starting in July/August, and 3rd floor in September/October. That's a couple of months later than we were told 2-3 months ago. BUT, their listed timeline for selecting upgrades had floor 2 (the first floor to select) starting in May (which is now) ... and I know that I, a 3rd floor future resident, selected mine 2 months ago. So I'm wondering if their timeline is a worst-case scenario, and not what will likely happen at this point.

Any ideas?

I think they had these binders made up a while ago. I spoke to a friend of mine from Bankers', and he was like, "You should have gotten those a while ago."

I have had a similar experience to you in that my selections are already finished, and that 3rd floor walkthru's are supposed to begin in early June. Also, if you notice on the website, the 2nd and 3rd floor units that are not reserved/contracted have "finished" prices, which means they're probably building them out.

Personally, and I know I'm biased with hope, but I am inclined to believe the previous timeline we were told of closings in a few months.

I just now looked in the open front doors. They have a LOT of work to do in the foyer/first floor, but the windows are now all framed in on the first floor facade and they seem to make progress every day. The first floor is, however, still just a workshop. The only progress I see on the interior is a tiny bit of wall framing. Also, their are a couple of large, decorative wrought iron doors leaning against the west wall inside. They need to be re-finished, but otherwise appear to be nice and in good shape. Does anyone know if they are going to be used inside?

A sushi restaurant called Mizu. Mosaic is moving into the building at 10th and Washington where the Pyramid office used to be, and Pyramid is moving 1 building over.

I think there's a slot left, though.

Well, if we needed more proof that the timelines in the recent homeowner's manual were off, I just got a call from Pyramid. My pre-drywall walkthru is scheduled for next Tuesday, the 22nd.

I'd have to say, I'm pretty excited to see the inside of my unit for the first time.

How did your walkthrough go? I'm excited to hear what it's like. I haven't even gotten the call to schedule mine yet.
