Also, some of the buildings probably don't exist in real life yet because STL wasn't destroyed until 2030 in the Battle of St. Louis. We will have had more construction by then.

no, i spent more time than i should have at work staring at that one frame trying to figure out which buildings were which.gary kreie wrote:I thought you were joking. Then I watched the preview with the underground scene.urban_dilettante wrote:^ i spot Eagleton, a couple of One Met Squares, One U.S. Bank Plaza (i think), and either One AT&T Center or Bank of America Plaza (i think). also, lots and lots of filler.
apparently One-Met-Square style really catches on at some point between now and then. like Chicago style but better.Gateway City wrote:Also, some of the buildings probably don't exist in real life yet because STL wasn't destroyed until 2030 in the Battle of St. Louis. ^ Ha. I saw that too. It was like "Hey, it's Metropolitan Square!" And then "oh weird, it's another Metropolitan Square-ish building..." Glad to see it and others included...albeit in deep shadow.

I would love if this were one of the tenants of a St. Louis shipping container building.

Apparently it was their biggest premier of anything since Warehouse 13 in 2009, and their biggest premier for a scripted drama since Eureka in 2006.
For comparisons' sake, Warehouse 13 went on to run for 4 seasons and 48 episodes, and Eureka ran for 5 seasons and 77 episodes.
Exciting stuff, hope the momentum continues.

A friend visiting London last week told me he was surprised to see that city plastered with posters featuring our very own Arch - pretty cool!
The clip - "This is St. Louis? - Now we call it Definace" should be played at every clutch moment in every St. Louis sporting event Cards, Rams, Blues, SLU
Niners have the ball on the Rams 10 yard line with the Rams up by 7 4th down 20 seconds on the clock in the 4th - "This is St. Louis? - Now we call it Definace"
The Irony is that we have a sleepy little hamlet of Definace already

Sounds like it's a hit too. People will be watching the arch for a good while it seems.

Watch it LIVE here: http://www.epctv.com/channels/Syfy-Onli ... h-4888.htm
It works...But holy cow, you really gotta click through some ads to get to it. You also need a fast connection or it's going to buffer a ton. You may also be able to watch it later on defiance.com because the pilot is on there, so the tonight's episode may be as well by tonight or tomorrow.

Okay, they just dumped like 5 STL references in like the span of 15 seconds.
The Jefferson Expansion park, T-ravs, pork steak, gooey buttercake and I think i heard worlds fair donuts or ted drewes or something
It was very corny, like they pulled up wikipedia and randomly looked at what our 'famous fair' is. But I appreciated it nontheless.

Don't forget Rafe McCaulley working for a St. Louis dog food company in his pre-Arkfall days.rawest1 wrote:Okay, they just dumped like 5 STL references in like the span of 15 seconds.

I'm guessing the only thing that stopped them from the straight-up "Purina" reference was a failed sponsorship pitch.

Gooey buttercake... "right up there with penicillin as far as great inventions"

Looks like they go below the ground again in next week's episode:
Not sure if they plan to go to old STL or just into the mines.
Read in an interview that there will be some back story about what happened to the Arch and how they saved it.

Looks like the premier's ratings increased to 3.5 million from 2.7 with DVR viewings. This show's off to a pretty big start by SyFy standards.

If you look St. Louis up on Tumblr, there are people from all over who wanna visit here just because of this show.
I propose a container village on the site of ballpark village and renaming it Defiance.

Not joking, that's probably a good idea to use for one of the many lots that will be there. Mini-Defiance could be a hit.
In the preview for next week's episode, Rafe McCawley says they need to build a high-speed rail. Maybe a small allusion to the Chicago-STL high-speed rail.
