It sounded like an automatic. So, 15 shots were fired all within a couple seconds.

17 year old suspect in custody for Kiener Plaza murder.

On one hand I appreciate the police and the media referring to this as a targeted attack, but I also think that's a bit of a stretch, given that they were referring to it as "targeted" before they even had a suspect. From my perspective, "Targeted" implies some sort of connection between the shooter and the victim. Nobody new if there was any history between these two at that time, and there still may not be.

Just because they had an argument and the shooter chased the victim doesn't make this any more targeted than any other random act of violence against an innocent person.

Perhaps they have a history, and hopefully they did, otherwise this could have been any one of us.

Idk, it’s not even 2pm and I got 8 miles in around downtown today and nobody randomly stopped to argue with me when I set on multiple benches around downtown.

I get what you're saying and my experience Downtown has always been the same. But there's no reason to compare situations when someone has been murdered. The truth is, we need to get to where a murder like this doesn't happen regardless of whether or not the parties know each other or the attack was targeted. People won't feel safe until we get to that point, even if the likelihood of them ever facing any issues is practically zero.

I hear you, but this one just felt a little different to me, personally. I think it is a combination of the fact that my office is 1 block away, this is an area I walk frequently, usually around mid-day, and I and my closest friends were "skateboarders". And, I've been hassled by strangers, and I'm not always the best at just disengaging and walking away immediately. Now, I'm not over here getting into arguments with strangers every day (that's what this forum is for), but I could see myself in some version of the scenario that resulted in that young man getting gunned down.

Still, overall, I'm in the general camp that most person-on-person crime occurs between people who know each other or have some other type of connection (i.e., intergang violence). Or, when property crime turns into violent crime when property owners intervene.

Homicides in CWE and a downtown parking garage today.

Both overshadowed by another terrible, terrible Cards loss.

The City simply doesn't have the type of people that can handle lax gun laws. There needs to be some special laws put in place. This isn't Wyoming.

State Rep Meredith tried that last week but the gop shot it down. He wanted counties to have the ability to set their own policy on open carry and kids having guns. Which seemed reasonable, if some hillbilly wants to pack heat in Bulter county as he goes to Walmart go for it, i don’t care

The Tower Grove area was an absolute disaster this past weekend (multiple shootings + one homicide). It's going to be a fun summer.
