FYI Verizon Center is not going to be replaced by something in the suburbs anytime soon for the Wizards. It's owned and operated by Monumental Sports, the same ownership group that owns Wizards & Capitals. Zero chance MS would remove one of their own teams from their own arena and thus lose operating revenue. Not to mention the timeline would be around 2027 for any potential lease anyways... which would be in line with probable venue upgrades. Plus they're building a new practice facility for the Wizards (doubles as the home venue for the WNBA Mystics) in Anacostia as well.

The Milwaukee Bucks new arena is $525 million and the Edmonton Oilers new place grew to $600 million. Plus they're throwing around $550 to 600 million in Seattle for a new Sonics arena. Saint.Louis has the slimmest chances of landing any NBA team and i don't think we should be throwing $5-600 Mil on a new arena we have better things to do with our money like stabilizing north saint.louis and surrounding areas don't get me wrong i would enjoy if we could snag a team but at what cost?
I also think saint.louis has a better chance of being a moderate growth region more than slow growth however we'll all know in 2040 how we fair ...

The only reason I knew this was that I live in DC now and have networked with MS employees. What is with all of the doom and gloom about NBA here in STL? Yet folks have a hard on for the MLS?
STL is a top 20 market without the NFL. The ONLY one! The only market in the COUNTRY with just baseball and hockey; STL would make perfect sense. The NBA has clearly ran out places to expand. Seattle again? Vancouver again? Louisville, Omaha, Pittsburgh? Seriously.......

Bernie's logic is way off base. The Grizzlies situation was different for many reasons. I'm glad it didn't happen. I don't want the Walton Crime Family owning another team in STL.

Seattle is probably #1 in terms of any NBA team though... the market is still insanely strong, they just didn't pony up for a new arena. Now that they have a deep pockets potential owner and the city is willing to let them build a shiny new NBA arena I bet Seattle gets the Sonics back with the new CBA deal (remember, the city got to keep the Sonics history, colors, and logo when the team moved to OKC).

Saint.Louis may be slow growth but it definitely isn't declining like Pittsburgh Cleveland Detroit Chicago Milwaukee Buffalo and nothing against those places cause they are all great places but when it comes to Saint.Louis we're in our own way and we take things way too deeply when it comes to bad press.
I don't take anything what Bernie has to say to heart however i do believe Saint.Louis will not get a NBA team not cause we can't support it cause Seattle is far more attractive

There are only 30 NBA team. If Seattle got the first one the NBA will need another to even it out to 32. I'm skeptical that East-West conference balancing would be a significant factor in NBA decision-making. They'll pick the cities that make the most revenue and sort out the conferences later.

Relax man it, was one tweet from a KC homer. The NBA doesn't want to over-saturate a small market. If STL gets a good ownership group they have as good or better chance than KC for the NBA. How much would a NBA expansion fee cost? I would assume a lot more than the NHL expansion.. Theres no Denying KC is growing & seems to be the go 2 city for Missouri however while there may be fan support i couldn't see KC pulling this off without good corporate support...
